Tackiest Film Fest on Basic Cable Marilyn/Mansfield Wanna Be Mamie Van Doren: Seven Films on TCM A pale imitation of both Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield, sleazy 1950s "sexpot" Mamie Van Doren made mostly cheeze-bag movies with titles like GUNS GIRLS AND GANGSTERS, THE GIRL IN BLACK STOCKINGS and SEX KITTENS GO TO COLLEGE. Those three and four more of Van Doren's most vacuous, Va-Va-Voomiest titles will err back-to-back as a "tribute" to the semi-star, Thursday on TCM.

Best Movie on Basic Cable This Week Katharine and Cary Carry On Madly in 1938 Screwball Classic HOLIDAY Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant were both masters at the Depression-era genre known as "Screwball Comedy," films that poked fun at crazy rich folks. One of their best joint efforts is 1938's HOLIDAY, in which Kate is torn by her love for her sister's penniless but irresistible fiance Cary. HOLIDAY airs on TCM Wednesday.

Weakened Box Office: June 14-16, 2013 MAN OF STEEL Steals B.O. Thunder, Opening Soars Above $110 Million B.O. prognosticators were a tad low in predicting grosses for MAN OF STEEL: The superhero reboot kicked major booty at the box office, easily topping the chart. Last week's #1, THE PURGE, imploded 75% (suggesting Berry Bad Word-of-Mouth) and RAZZIE Contenders AFTER EARTH and INTERNSHIP also had big fall-offs. For complete B.O.
