Dreadful 1970s Musical Mish-Mash LOST HORIZON Finally Errs on TCM

One of the Great Musical Misfires of All Time, LOST HORIZON had been all but impossible to see since its disastrous premiere in 1972, when it was laughed off screen. This week TCM will finally show it (hopefully with the version restoring some of the more hilarious moments cut before its general release). Wall-to-wall with hilariously awful songs sung by awful non-singers, HORIZON, a "Pre-RAZZIE Classic," airs on TCM this Friday (at 4:30am/EST!).

DIVERGENT #2: INSURGENT Surges to Top of B.O. Chart, GUNMAN Blows Up

Despite mediocre reviews and so-so word-of-mouth INSURGENT, the first DIVERGENT SERIES sequel, topped the Weekend Chart, partly because CINDERELLA had a disappointing second round. But both of those movies fared better than Sean Penn's GUNMAN, which opened to a paltry $628 per screen Friday. Here's the Complete MoJo Weekend CART.

Weakened Box Office: March 13-15

CINDERELLA (Without Any Midnight Shows) Takes the Box Office Crown

With good reviews and great word-of-mouth, Dizz-Knee's live action remake of CINDERELLA charmed movie-goers and had the year's second best opening. Traling far behind were RUN ALL NIGHT and the film CINDERELLA may overtake as 2015's #1 grosser, 50 SHADES OF GREY. Here's the complete B.O. MoJo Chart.

TCM Features 7 Films by Schlock Meister Bert I. Gordon Thursday

Director Bert I. Gordon specialized in the kind of "low-budget wonders" that played drive-ins and "Kiddy Matinees," and TCM will be airing a 7-film salute to him all night Thursday. Among the films featured are THE MAGIC SWORD, VILLAGE of the GIANTS, TORMENTED and PICTURE MOMMY DEAD. Here's the full Thursday night sked on TCM...
