L.A. Film Critics Name Favorites for 2006
'Letters From Iwo Jima,' 'The Queen' take top prizes

'The Queen'
'The Queen' earned four wins and one runner-up prize from L.A. Film Critics.
The L.A. film critics have spoken, and "Letters From Iwo Jima" has taken home the prize from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association for best picture for 2006. However, the clear favorite of the critics was "The Queen," which earned four wins and one runner-up prize, including best actress for Helen Mirren, best supporting actor for Michael Sheen and best screenplay for Peter Morgan.

Other big winners at the LAFCA were "Little Miss Sunshine," which won runner-up for the best screenplay prize and the new generation award, "Happy Feet" for best animation and "The Inconvenient Truth" for best documentary.

Robert Mulligan won the career achievement award.
