The article doesn't make it clear -- Who ARE the critics who vote on these "awards"??  If they're the same TV and radio critics who are constantly being quoted in newspaper ads for bad movies week-after-week, then these awards mean absolutely ...NOTHING!!

Response from Head RAZZberry: Here's a LINK to the Main Page of The Broadcast Film Critics' Association WEB SITE...and a DIRECT LINK to the page on their site where a Complete List of Their 200 Voting Members can be found. Quickly perusing the list, it appears that YES, many of their Voting Members ARE the same ones perpetually quoted on print ads for lousy movies, among them Bonnie Churchill, Pete Hammond, Jeanne Wolf and many others whose quotes on a movie ad immediately clue me in that the film being advertised is likely to be a RAZZIE Contender. So you see, they do serve some purpose after all!

Broadcast Film Critics Nominations Announced

'Babel,' 'Departed,' 'Dreamgirls,' 'Sunshine' Earn 7 nods Each

'A Prairie Home Companion'
Robert Altman's final pic, 'Prairie Home Companion,' was nominated for Best Acting Ensemble by  Broadcast Film Critics.

'The Departed'
'The Departed' received 7 nominations from Broadcast Film Critics, including Best Picture and Best Actor,  Leonardo DiCaprio.

"Babel," "The Departed," "Dreamgirls" and "Little Miss Sunshine" tied with seven noms each -- including the top feature award -- as the Broadcast Film Critics announced its nominees for the org's 12th Critics Choice Awards.

The other nominees for 2006's top pic are "Blood Diamond," "Letters From Iwo Jima," "Little Children," "Notes on a Scandal," "The Queen" and "United 93."

Two "firsts" highlight the categories: Leonardo DiCaprio became the first thesp to score two noms in the actor category -- for "Departed" and "Blood Diamond" -- and "Letters From Iwo Jima" is the first pic to snare nominations in both the picture and foreign-language film categories. Other noteworthy noms include "Apocalypto" for foreign-language film and Robert Altman's last pic, "A Prairie Home Companion," for acting ensemble.

Joining DiCaprio in the actor category are Ryan Gosling ("Half Nelson"), Peter O'Toole ("Venus"), Will Smith ("The Pursuit of Happyness") and Forest Whitaker ("The Last King of Scotland").

For lead actress, Penelope Cruz ("Volver"), Judi Dench ("Notes on a Scandal"), Helen Mirren ("The Queen"), Meryl Streep ("The Devil Wears Prada") and Kate Winslet ("Little Children") are the contenders.
