And let's not forget that this movie was made by Vanguard Animation, the same company that made those other crappy movies Valiant and Happily N'Ever After. These guys just don't know how to make a good animated film...

Well, I should have said, "bottom of my barrell". I'm actually a fan of japanese culture, lived there two years. Just never liked the animation, and, again, its the art and style I don't like. Nor am I an expert, as I generally avoid the genre.

Other exposure was Voltron ( the first one ) featured a group of avian-themed youths. It's old, was out when I was a kid. It was pretty bad, but kids fare of course. Pokemon', ugh. Oddly enough, I like Teen Titans.

For me its a matter of taste. I was tempted to see Spirited Away so on your recommendations I'll look for it, and Ghost in the Shell. I do try to remain open-minded, or at least pry the door back open if it's warranted.

Popcorn Avenger, I think it's best if you see Japanese Anime movies like "Appleseed", "Ghost in the Shell", "Spirited Away", "Akira", and my personal favorites "Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust" and "Princess Mononoke". If after seeing those movies, you still think Japan is the bottom of the barrell, well that's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

Uhh, no. Japanese animation is at the bottom of the pile. IMO. If all animated movies were imports from Japan, I'd lobby for a boycott, if not outright ban.

An entirely subjective opinion; it's the art and style I dislike. Their story telling, although often obscure as seen through the lens of our western culture, seems complex and possessing depth.

Disney studios was the king of animation, although the upstart (and now crown prince) Pixar has made many forget that.

No, I don't feel bad about hijacking this thread. Space Chimps is likely to be unworthy of discussion, another turd in this year's punchbowl.

Well, along with "Mamma Mia", this flick is opening opposite "The Dark Knight", so I here by declare both of those movies D.O.A.

PS: In my humble opinion, all our animated movies should be imported from Japan. They have animation down to a science and do animated movies with storylines that have a hell of a lot more range than talking animals.

Whoa, be careful not to speak too soon --  You created a 2006 page for Barnyard (which it deserved, of course), and they went on to make a cartoon series called Back at the Barnyard on Nickelodeon.

I fear the existence of Landing of the Space Chimps as the next Nick/CN cartoon series (more likely CN; Nick owns the Barnyard franchise). 

Then again, if Space Chimps bombs, my fears will vanish.
