I wasn't surprised to hear Jason Friedberg & Aaron Seltzer a.k.a. Seltzerberg have fans.Not because people like the most juvenile jokes and don't mind home-made production values.But because they see that their movies don't pretend to be anything more.True,movies that take themselves to serious can be bad.But that doesn't mean they have to keep their efforts at minimum.Making a bad movie on purpose is like...well,doing anything bad on purpose:it's still bad.

So what is the problem with this movie?Even those fans I mentioned will be disappointed because no disaster movies were parodied.I know it doesn't sound like a big deal,but it is.It's about expectations.Most parodies are from movies a year before.Other are from movies that didn't premiere yet.That's right.They parodied trailers.Why not call it
Trailer Movie then?I'm not joking.At least it wouldn't be a lie.At first I thought these movies never get a big budget so they couldn't afford to recreate movies that rely on special effects.Do you remember the so-called TRANSFORMER in MEET THE SPARTANS?This time we get IRON-MAN and ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS.Too expensive to use CGI.But then I find out this somehow cost $20 million!I hope they didn't over-spent on
the biggest star of the movie:Kim Kardashian.She wasn't as bad as I expected,but still.

I know I gave it the same rating as it's 3 predecessors,but those were guilty pleasures which made me laugh a few times.This was campy.A lot of people think it's the same,but it means I laugh at how bad it is.There weren't genuine laughs.What saved it was the fact that I smiled once per scene,and also MAD TV alumni Crista Flanagan,Nicole Parker and Ike Barinholtz.Their impressions are always pleasant to watch,even in this movies.

Parodies obviously are meant to not follow the usual script writing rules.But what they do require is a plot.If we dig to much into semantics,this series of sketches is a plot.But let's put this way:if you can't describe the plot with a simple sentence(premise),or without going into details(full script),there's a plot but no story.The plots in this movies are usually the same of the movie that's the main target to parody,and then they add sub-plots from other movies.That's the easiest way to write a script,and Seltzerberg can't even do that?!


Grades: D- in the U.S. and 3,0 in Chile.

Well, I'm not attacking you for liking him. I'm just pointing out that you place him in high standards, even though he has only met those standards half way. As I said, you and Vits might consider him to be on top of his game at like 70% or 80%, but for most critics and audiences, he's more like at 40% or 50% right now.

You go in with low expectations, but come out with ratings of 6 or higher? That comes across to me that you are easily taken, or you're either not seeing something that everyone else did. As for "2001", I can understand why someone wouldn't like it, it's far from the tradition sci-fi movies like "Star Wars", "Star Trek", and other space opera adventures.

But most of the times, I usually end up liking good films, although I don't consider them masterpieces. However, it's bad for your health to be so negative all of the time. It's proven if you're happy, it's good for your body so me liking 96% of every film I watch isn't such a bad thing. I'd hate to be the person who criticize every movie they see.
I'm not mad, I just don't care for the current product that Hollywood puts out, so I stay away from going to theaters.

No, I don't. When any person say their opinion, it's IMPLIED that it's their opinion. I say it if I have to but I don't say it all of the time because I do get tired saying, "in my opinion" when it's already implied.

B.H.B.,you do tend to hate and not dislike movies.You name says it all.

As for Shyamalan,he's not a masterpiece maker,but he's also not bad.He has made 2 failures,2 semi-failures,1 semi-hit,2 hits and 1 potential classic.In R.T.,he has an exact 50%,which makes him average,not bad.

I guess no matter if you're a Razzie voter or an Oscar voter, some people choose whatever they want, no matter how good a case you make. The Oscars want better ratings, so instead of giving major catagory nods to successful and highly praised movies like "The Dark Knight" and "Wall*E", they went with the Oscar baiter "The Reader". The same goes for here. Seltzerberg are the living embodyment of everything wrong with Hollywood right now, but Mike Myers' cruel idea of comedy seemed worse to our voters. Go figure. Oh well, there's always next year. As I said, expect at least one or two more "Movie Movies" before studios finally cut off the money flow and Seltzerberg are reduced to having to ask people over the Internet to give them donations, same as Uwe "The 21th Century's Ed Wood" Boll.

I'd say let's nominate and have these guys (Setzer & Friedberg) win, but only if by them winning, it sentences them both to an eternity of being banned from filmmaking and instead sentanced to a life of beatings and misery. Better yet, I'd be satisfied if there was just an X-Ray machine on stage that would force them to stand up there and show the rest of the world that they've proven it possible for two people to not only live, but make a living off of being born without brains.

Don't these guys know enough that parodies only work if you're encompassing the genre within the movies that are being parodied? Iron Man, Juno and Wanted are not disaster films. Armageddon, Posiedon and The Day After Tomorrow are disaster films. Disasterous, yes, but disaster films nonetheless.

Aside from the cine-du-merde that the Wayans Bros., referring only to Shawn and Marlon, have popped out lately, I'm not convinced they're unfunny. Totally, and I enjoyed the first Scary Movie, mainly focused on its two main
targets, Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. And since the six
screenplay credits include Seltzer, Friedberg, and the Wayans brothers, I'm
starting to think Buddy Johnson and Phil Beauman are the only two
good writers that should be making movies, since Jason and Aaron
