Funny story: A have a friend who has connections with film distributors. He tells me which movies will get a theatrical release here and which ones don't. When he told me that Best Foreign Film winner A SEPARATION was being released direct-to-DVD here, I wanted to rent it. I did, and I loved it! Now, it appears in the movie listings in the newspaper. My friend told me that it's being shown in an arthouse cinema, which is from another "circuit". Doesn't matter, because it's still elegible for the Vits Awards.

Meanwhile, because of the success of movies like GRINDHOUSE, a Chilean movie called BRING ME THE HEAD OF THE MACHINE GUN WOMAN is trying to bring a new sub-genre: LatinXploitation (I didn't come up with that name).

Those 2 movies are among the new releases here, along with SAFE HAVEN. Oh, and also FAST & FURIOUS PART 6. What should I do?

As if further evidence were needed, here's the LINK to read today's L.A. Times review of HANGOVER III, which declares "the comedy has left the building," and which (in the print edition) has a sub-headline that refers to the film as "dismal"...

Wait a minute, HeadRazz. The trailers for the movie make it clear it's more of a thriller/heist type of thing, AND there is NO actual Hangover this time. Therefore, I'd argue we cannot call this a rip-off of the first movie again (Unless you think it is ripping-off something else. If that's the case, please explain)...

I am not talking about Tree of Life being "booed," I am talking about the fact that the first 30 something reviews were almost exclusively negative.
