Atlas Shrugged Part II probably will be a hoot to watch -- but I'd wager that only half a dozen of us are even going to see it. And I think you're giving the people responsible way too much credit. The film is supposed to be released just prior to November election in hopes that it might influence the outcome in some fashion. In reality, the 3 or 4 thousand people that might actually cough up the cash to see it were all going to vote Republican anyway.

This was terrible to the point of being unwatchable, which will ultimately doom any chance it stood of taking home the Razzie Worst Picture trophy. Almost no one saw it, and few of those who even tried made it clear through to the closing credits...

One of the most poorly reviewed films of the year, this film lacks the production values of a graduate thesis. The fact that the movie failed miserably artistically,  is underscored by the fact that it was a piece of fluff propaganda celebrating laissez-faire serve-the-self Capitalism that failed miserably in the free markets.

This is a film that is totally incomprehensible to anyone who doesn't belong to the cult of Ayn Rand. Hands down my vote for the most embarassing example of film making last year.

Oh, right!LOL Well, after that scene, Johansson went to the ocean and fought the waves while yelling at God. 

It may sound silly, but his acting made it a serious scene for me.

Really? Well, I think Johansson is excellent on the show... as an actor. As a director, he does nothing special, so I'll believe you.

Ah, what a seriosuly bad movie!  
 
The good:  
 
The end is pretty funny: Too bad it wasn't supposed to be! Seriously, it ends with Dagny shouting one of the most hilarious no's in film history.  
 
The bad:  
 
Taylor Schilling: Schilling may be hot, but she can't act. She plays Dagny, a railroad executive with a stupid name.
 
Grant Bowler: Bowler plays Hank Reardon, an inventer who invents a new type of metal that's imaginatively called Reardon Metal. He plans to use it for railroads and if this description seems boring, that's because Reardon is boring and Bowler failed to make him interesting.
 
Matthew Marsden: Marsden plays Dagny's brother James. He's a lazy bum who doesn't want to run his railroad company, so he dumps the work off on Dagny. Marsden can't act and the script does him no favors.
 
The ugly:  
 
Paul Johansson: Johansson is the director of this God forsaken mess. He, also, plays John Galt in a very brief cameo. He's mostly known for his role on One Tree Hill and if you're a One Tree Hill vet, you shouldn't be directing a movie.
 
The script: Much like Twatlight, most of the problems in this stem from terrible source material. Screenwriters Brian Patrick O'Toole and John Aglialoro don't helo though.
 
The pointlessness: If I said that this movie was 97 minutes of people talking with each other, that would not be an exageration. Trying to turn Atlas Shrugged into a trilogy was a massive disaster. Why not just make one big movie and just cut out the pointless sh*t? I know they couldn't do this with The Fountainhead because Ayn Rand was still alive and would bitch about it, but she's six feet under now. You can cut out extraneous material, I'm pretty sure Rand won't rise from the dead.
 
In all honesty, this probably the worst movie of the year that actually tried to be good.

THis was a huge disappointment.  The director was terrible, the actors seemed to have no idea what to do, and the screenplay just inept.  All they had to do was follow the book.  Rand was a screen writer, and she knew how it was done.  Had they hired a better directory/screen writer -- it wouldn't have cost that much more -- and they might have had something.  The casting wasn't bad, and the look of the movie was up to the task.  Big sigh!  

At least the movie was about something, and how often does that happen any more?

This film relates pretty closely to the original book (Ayn Rand is a favorite of mine) -- or rather to the first third of the book, not to the first HALF. Only because I admire the book, I think it is a worthy suggestion.  

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: This movie was never intended to cover the first half of the book -- It was originally proposed as the first film of a trilogy based on Rand's novel. But given the combined critical and box office brickbats that greeted this first effort (it got a paltry 13% Approval at R.T.  and grossed an embarrassing $4.6 million on a $20 million production budget - MoJo LINK) it now appears extremely unlikely that a second (or third) installment will ever be made by these film-makers...

It probably won't be that hard to find a DVD copy of this. Unless Blockbuster goes out of business before January 2012 (not entirely impossible) there should be any number of un-rented copies collecting dust on their shelves by then.  I imagine a similar situation will prevail at most rental outlets.
