I just saw the original movie INTO THE MIRROR.I was blown away...by the fact it was worse than this.MIRRORS have obvious flaws but it still made want to keep watching.INTO THE MIRROR,on the other hand,was plain boring.Since I knew the ending would be the same,I looked at it with the same eyes I did with MIRRORS,like I didn't know.It turns out the ending is bad on both movies.In MIRRORS it makes no sense.In INTO THE MIRROR it only makes sense if you look at it as an artsy film,which it isn't.It completely killed the tone of the movie.Actually,it didn't,since the movie wasn't a horror flick like they promised.It was mostly talking.

Since I gave 20% to MIRRORS,I give INTO THE MIRROR 10%.

Yeah, see -- this is what half-assed storytelling does to your movie when you don't bother to explain everything because the movie is just one long set-up for a sequel that won't happen. Here's a crazy idea, Hollywood, try making a single, stand-alone movie first, then see how it does with critics and audiences, and then ... AND ONLY THEN ... make as many sequels as you like.

What? I'm confused. It's simply that our character died in the climax showdown and is now stuck in a limbo. What's not to get? He's in the world of the mirror monsters.

2/10.Why?The ending had the same tone as the one from the director's cut of THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT.If it wasn't for that ending,I would've give it like a 4.It's barely scary.

Actually,why didn't he get nominated?He wasn't awful,but come on!I understand it's not 100% easy to cry and makes us feel emotional at the same time.But who screams like that when being on fire?I know the director of that scene was a replacement(Aja's wife was in labor),but still.

Well, it's not actually a remake. Aja used the same concept with evil spirits behind mirrors but dramatically changed everything else. Oh, and I don't think the original film was that good as compared to Ringu, Shutter, and all that jazz.

I agree. Something has GOT to be done about these foreign...remake...rush-job...things. Was the original Asian movie good? I like the quote "Another reflection on Hollywood's dearth of original ideas", by the way.

See, what I liked about "The Descent" was it played on things that people are usually afraid of: the dark, close corners, and the unknown. These things are more scary to people than the thought of supernatural serial killers like Freddy, Jason, any American-ized J-horror movie, etc. Hollywood seems to think the more bloody a movie is, the scarier it is. Not true. Example: torture porn movies. They are just gross. Plus, add on to the fact no one really cares about horror movies until Halloween anyway. I used to be a huge horror movie fan, willing to forgive even the mediocre efforts. As I've gotten older and mellowed, however, I've become less forgiving.

The last good american horror movie I can remember was the first Nightmare on Elm Street. Maybe it's just a dearth of talent in the director's pool, Shyamalan's "looks like a horror movie but isn't" eviscerating the genre, and Roger Carpenter's fall from grace dating back to Ghosts of Mars. 

I don't count the bulk of the teenie slasher films, excluding NoES and  Halloween, as being worthy of consideration.

Perhaps it's because as we americans are living in a real world horror show that is our current administration, Hollywood (mistakenly) perceives that we've lost our taste for a good horror flick . . . .

Another horror movie people seem to like is http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465203/. Again, people thought "The Strangers" was a remake of this movie but The Strangers was written in 2004 so it couldn't be. Anyway, I didn't like the film as much but a lot of other people did. It's also a French movie.

Also, on other boards, I mentioned "The Mist." I loved that film to death. Anyway, these are a few great horror films you can watch, if you're not too impressed with horror movies these days.

Because of "The Cave", "The Descent" was pushed back a year. You're so naive. You don't know who this director is? If you read any of his interviews for this film, you would know why I believe him so much. And stop bringin Uwe Boll into this. That was obviously not my point.

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: So you're so naive that if the director sez something, you just believe him??  Bet you believed all that malarky about WMDs in Iraq as well...   

On this specific film, I'll concede that it may not be a literal remake -- But if it's borrowing the plot and other elements from a pre-existant film, then it's a RIP-OFF -- meaning it would still qualify for our Worst Remake/Rip-Off category...
