Not only do the critics at Cannes really seem to love Behind the Candelabra, they also strongly hate Only God Forgives. They have been saying that it is very badly written, that it glorifies brutal violence and that it is very hatefull towards woman. So the cast for Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas has been annouced, and not only is Perry "whiting up" for this film (Tika Sumpter is the only other black cast member other than Tyler), but his cast also includes Chad Michael Murray (I guess he's making a kind of comeback?) and...

Since Seth MacFarlane won't host the Oscars again, and Tina Fey said she might not do it either... Who do you think should host? To avoid risks, I think they should go back to hiring 2 hosts. What say you guys?  

Also, Xbox announced yesterday that the HALO movie isn't happening after all. It'll be a TV series, produced by Steven Spielberg. 

And BEHIND THE CANDELABRA may not be so bad after all. It has just been nominated by the Critics' Choice Awards for Best TV Movie or Mini-Series and twice for Best Actor in a TV Movie or Mini-Series.

What HeadRazz posted is an update. While they had announced the 3rd installment, there was no official filming date... until now.

I thought Oz the Great and Powerful was a good film but, like you said, not necessary. However, Wicked is different in a lot of ways. First off, the Broadway show came before the recent OZ film. (So Please disregard the "origin" of the Wicked Witch of the West in Oz the Great and Powerful). I must add also Glee has pretty much "butchered" a lot of songs so, please, I'm begging, disregard those covers also, and listen to the actual songs on the Wicked original cast album.

I think Wicked could be a great film, not only because of the great songs, but the story and theme of "being who you are." Sorry -- Guess I am kind of fan boy Clap 

P.S- Granted, Mamma Mia was a financial success. However, the script was boring and it seemed clear that Mamma Mia was a stage Musical, and maybe should have stayed as one.

There's a reason why sequels and prequels to THE WIZARD OF OZ haven't been well-received so far: They just aren't necessary. They usually don't change the perspective of the story or the characters.

I've never seen the play, but I've heard covers of the songs in GLEE. They're good. But I think THE WIZ had good songs too, and look at how that turned out.

Actually, they did something similar in the 2009 Oscars. Both times, it was to celebrate how the musical film genre had returned. The return officially started in 2001 with MOULIN ROUGE.
