Major Movie Star (ironic title?) is going straight to DVD, and like Blonde Ambition, won't be eligible for Razzie consideration.

When?  They say 2008, but nothing else specific.

I guess we can now wish that Jessica Simpson was in Starship Dave, so that the Murphy flick would go direct-to-DVD.

I looked at Box Office Mojo today and noticed it was still pulling in ticket sales.  It's now at $6400.  At $1 to $1.50 each, that's a lot of people.

And it's a rip-off of Legally Blonde?  I sure wish it would expand into the New York or L.A. markets so it can be included with Major Movie Star this year, but the DVD is slated to be released on 22 Jan 2008.

Like I said under Blond Ambition, if Papa Joe wants to spend his money on his daughter's career, he should consider 4 years of acting school. 

Moviefone has reported that Jessica Simpson wants to remake Pretty Woman -- Let's hope not! Like T.O. told her to stay away from Dallas Cowboy games, I think the ban also should apply to re-making classic movies that were actually good...

What's the point of Jessica Simpson? Didn't the dumb blonde act die out like 4 years ago? Why do people still find her interesting? She's not talented, and she tries too hard to be sexy, not to mention she's very annoying and stupid. Shouldn't girls be looking up to more legitimate role models, like Paris, Britney, or Lindsay? I mean, really!

This movie also reminds me of Hilary Duff's made-for-TV Disney movie CADET KELLY from 2002. Yet, that also looked like a PRIVATE BENJAMIN remake for teens. Overall it wasn't bad, but this story needs to be discontinued for good!

Jessica Simpson should quit her acting job.  If there was a good movie starring her in the future, the world would end.

Blonde Ambition now has talk of a March 28, 2008 release date in theaters.  I guess it is another one of those Dead or Alive situations.

Jessica Simpson attempts physical comedy.  [sigh]  That only works if you pull off a klutzy character that people either feel for (Charlie Chaplin's Tramp) or people like to laugh at (the Three Stooges) or both (Laurel & Hardy).  I feel it would have taken the female equivalent of Dick Van Dyke to pull off Blonde Ambition.

As for Major Movie Star, I imagine it won't have the second half of Private Benjamin where she really digs in, grows up and stands up for herself in the midst of being wedded.  I wonder if we're going to see much of a transformation during the boot camp sequence in this movie.  This rehash reminds me of White Chicks vs. Some Like It Hot and Tootsie...except Major Movie Star is an out-and-out ripoff.

And what has happened to Blond Ambition? 

Response from Head RAZZberry: Last we heard, BLONDE AMBITION appeared headed toward being a direct-to-home-video title. The only release info on it now posted at IMDb ( LINK ) sez it's set to open February 8 of 2008...in RUSSIA! The trailer for it (LINK) certainly suggests it's unworthy of an American theatrical release... 

Another movie we should add to the "Discussions of Up and Coming Movies" is Jessica Simpson's "Major Movie Star". The trailer was just released, and it looks horribly bad. This is the first movie in a while where I can honestly say, "This has bomb written all over it!"
