Hey man, I'm all against the razzing Stallone just for the sake of razzing Stallone thing, too. But hey, if he gets enough votes, there's really nothing that can be done. The people will have spoken...

Ok...I'm trying to warn you guys now but many, MANY, MANY people are hating the guts out of you guys for having put this film up for every category. Some have even said "Some time in the future, the Razzies should nominate themselves."

I will not get involved in this. But I'll enjoy seeing the war take place!

Overall, it was a common case of Hollywood taking a some what good idea and turning it into a cartoon in order to make it a commerical success.

I never suggested it does. I don't think we have to go far past current events and the recent adventurism of this nation to provide an example of how it does not. However, if you happen to be a soldier conscripted by a particular nation, your options are decidedly limited at the point in which your superiors order you into harms way. You can follow orders, make a run for it and risk a firing squad, or eliminate the effort of the running part and simply defy orders which will generally yield the same result. John Rambo was a mercenary who had a choice in the matter. The people he was blowing to pieces didn't. Incidentally, the "innocent people" he was austensibly defending had a choice of not involving themselves in the matter either, and the conflict into which they were imposing themselves was so poorly defined in the movie that there was no reason to assume they were actually acting nobly.

Keep in mind "slasher movie" usually translates into "killer in a mask murdering stupid, horny, drunk teenagers in over-the-top and impossible ways". Now granted, Rambo is killing people in over-the-top ways, but to protect innocent people, not because that's how he gets his jollies. Plus, does even "fighting under a country's flag" actually justify killing people?

I agree with Saturnwatcher, I think what Stallone did with Rambo IV alone out did anything Boll has done in his short 5 years of ruining the perception of the Video Gaming market. The United States already has a bad image of what Americans are truly like and Rambo amplifies that to the power of 10.

Other than what Saturnwatcher has already pointed out the movie alone without the political overtones is just one big glorified CGI induced slaughterhouse with a supposedly sympathetic theme.

Sorry, I can't support Boll topping that.

A point needs to be made in drawing contrast between Postal and Rambo IV:

Postal was graphically violent, but it was also intended as satire and black comedy. (It failed miserably on both counts, but indulge me and read on.) It was an extremely lame and nearly unwatchable film, but very different in both intent and spirit than John Rambo. The sole intent of Stallone was to invoke some twisted sense of patriotism by presenting an "heroic" American shooting up foreigners and blowing them into as many pieces as possible. No effort was made whatsoever to define the context of the conflict in which the main character places himself...whether it is just, evil or somewhere in between. The bad guys are evil and deserve to be massacred by an American for no other reason than the fact that they salute a different flag.

It should be further pointed out, again, that Rambo IV has already reached a pretty large audience and regretably, some folks have even expressed enthusiasm for it. Most likely, everyone who will ever see Postal could probably fit comfortably into a typical NFL stadium. It bothers me equally that people seem to find this type of stuff attractive, but there isn't anything in Postal that isn't regularly presented in the types of video games from which Boll's films are drawn. He is simply presenting imagery suggested by the source. Awful as it may be that people find any of this stuff entertaining, whether presented by Boll or Stallone, we are probably presenting the planet with all the ammunition it will need to cleanse itself of our presence soon enough.

Oh, that was only a FEW of the scary details. 

• I know using a cat for a silencer is in one of the videogames, but I still can't get over that scene.
• Then there's the politician throwing wild conspiracy theories on the street corner who gets blown up by a suicide bomber.
• Speaking of suicide bomber, there's the one terrorist who is developmentally impaired, and Bin Laden's second-in-command arranges things so he "volunteers" to be the next suicide bomber.
• The object of everyone's attention is a shipment of Krotchy dolls that arrived at the Little Germany amusement park.  The dolls are shaped as the the name implies.
• Vince Desi, the creator of the videogame, disguised as a Krotchy doll mascot, attempts to strangle Uwe Boll.
• Boll gets shot in the. . . well, just think of the doll, and dies proclaiming he hates videogames.  It's sad that even this scene was a dud. . . .
• The news reporter at the Little Germany event sits dumbly out on stage until he finally gets shot.
• The armed neighborhood vigilantes chase Zack Ward around until they corner him.  After they unload hundreds of rounds at him, he pulls out a very large machine gun (not sure what it's called) and mows them all down.
• Zack Ward's extremely obese wife is a very busy woman when he's not around.

Feel free to add your own dumb, awful, boring or just plain bad scenes from Postal.

At least it didn't have any of the following:

• Zack Ward repeatedly fall over in a broken chair during an interview, despite there being other chairs nearby.
• A van plow into a baby in a stroller.
• A bunch of kids being shot up, often in slow motion, while they wait for dolls shaped like crotches.
• A broadcast journalist arrange the dead bodies of the very same kids into a photo op.
• Four cute babes sporting Hitler mustaches so they can blend into a German themed amusement park.
• A black policeman shoot an elderly Asian woman because she speaks with a thick accent and can't get her car through the light.
• The same black policeman scold his neurologically challenged ward because the guy only pulled in $13 at the spot where he was left in his electric wheelchair to panhandle.
• A group of paused rampagers discover the only thing they have in common is that they hate Jews.
• Verne Troyer fulfill prophecy by being raped by a 1000 monkeys.
• Uwe Boll explain his movies are financed by Nazi gold.
• Dave Foley display his full monty and then avail the toilet while Chris Coppola blushes at the view and grimaces at the fumes. 
• The opening sequence with the hijackers debating how many virgins they will receive remains the best scene in the movie. 
• The shootout at the welfare office, as well as the recorder's triple WHAM!my comeuppance later in the movie. 
• Zack Ward's reaction to the interview question "What is the difference between a duck?"
• A promotional speaker getting flattened by a falling, flaming car while cussing out his publisher on the cel phone.
• George Bush and Osama bin Laden holding hands and skipping into the sunset dotted with nuclear explosions.

Yeah...Pretty much sums up what I said a few months ago...and I still stick by it...

"...most mindlessly violent film of not just the Rambo series (All 3 combined does not even come close to this bad boy) but of any film of the supposed "genre." How it missed an NC-17 rating escapes the tar out of me. Out of the 1hr and 33mins of the movie, about 1hr and 10mins was completely focused on human carnage, blood-letting, and destruction that was totally pointless."

I finally got around to sitting through this piece of crap while stuck for a week on an assignment in Gillette, Wyoming. This should give everyone some accurate measure of just how difficult it is to find entertainment in Gillette.

There isn't much to add to the previously noted negative sentiments. This is perhaps the most appallingly, gratitutiously violent movie ever made...it's definitely in the top 3. Mel Gibson would be embarrassed by the level of unnecessary violence in this film. There was really no plot whatsoever, simply a vehicle for utilizing state of the art special effects to watch scores of bad guys meet a gory and graphic demise. The good guys were good guys simply by virtue of being American and Christian with no other requirement of explanation. The bad guys were bad guys strictly by virtue of being foriegn, specifically Oriental.

For the record, the fact that this was a Stallone vehicle undoubtedly added to my personal distaste, but I would have been offended and appalled by this movie regardless of who made it. I shudder to think ANYONE actually found anything positive in it.

Here's one that's WORSE: STOP! OR MY MOM WILL SHOOT...AGAIN!

There's just so much unexplored territory in that subject matter!

I think we can make two reasonably accurate observations:

1. Stallone isn't done making movies.

2. The man has no aptitude for original ideas.

Given the two points above, another Rambo movie is almost a certainty...

...I will give you that Stallone Fans are usually truly blind when it comes to their Idol and his misguided (if not idiotic) views on what he considers "Great Film making." However, not all of his fans possess the mind-numbing "intelligence" of this fool!
