At least this didn't come out before The Comebacks (a should've-been Worst Remake or Ripoff nominee from last year) or that film would've been worse (it was bad enough as it was).

In the words of Darrell Hammond, "You must go to great lengths when you make these movies, don't you Trebek?" (guess the reference in that one).

Saw this a few days ago: You guys were 100% right about this turd. The problem wasn't the jokes, they were OK. The problem was that there weren't enough. Most of the film featured a serious storyline of Woody Harrelson getting with his old girlfriend. Also, the bear-fight scene was funnier in the trailers -- and was done better in "Anchorman."

Still, not as bad as "Bewitched!"  

Besides those scouting this movie to determine it's Razzie potential, who in the hell is going to his movies?

Damn it, stop funding this loser's career!

He is the Anti-Christ of Comedy. I still think that Bewitched should have won your Worst Movie of the Year award . . . 

Or he could try yachting...

Or water polo... 

Or monster truck racing...

Or perhaps just try and rip off Cool Runnings by going the bobsled route. 

Then again, there's never been a definitive Quidditch movie yet...

In that case, 2008 is going to be the new year of the stinker.  But as I looked at the RT ratings for this and Bewitched, I found that this is slightly lower in the ratings.  And remember what Stewie from Family Guy did as a result of Bewitched?  When it comes to Semi-Pro, I will say it once more: "Guess what?  I'm a Clippers player!"

Ferrell abundantly deserved his Screen Couple Razzie for "Bewitched," totally stank in "Blades of Glory" (for which he couldn't even bother to lose weight to play an Olympic athlete!) and hasn't been truly funny in a film since at least "Ron Burgundy."

So, yes -- Let's consider him for a slot alongside Stallone in "Rambo" (how could he not be nominated?) and Tom Cruise in "Valkyrie" (for which even the publicity stills scream Razzie!) as one of our 2008 Worst Actor nominees!!

At this point, I don't think anyone reasonably expects anything but "cookie-cutter" material from Ferrell. He's been lazy (and repeating himself) for years now. The Other Boleyn girl, on the other hand, was advertised as being a "class act," when in truth it's a dime-novel style "bodice ripper" that actually generates more laughs (while trying to be serious) than Semi-Pro does... 

Why is this just now being added to our Forum, and The Other Boleyn Girl (which at least tried to be adult and entertaining) was chosen as Worst of the Weak in its stead?? Semi-Pro is just another cookie-cutter / kookie Will Ferrell "comedy" that could have been made by any one of at least 27 directors-for-hire...in their sleep!!
