PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE : One of our local art theaters...

Unfortunately, they are showing the colorized version, which decidedly spoils the experience.

Has it ever been suggested that a special Razzie should be awarded to Ted Turner for championing the worst assault on the motion picture arts in the history of filmdom, aka colorization?

Response from Head RAZZberry: I used to joke that once he got the rights to the M-G-M film library, Turner would finally get around to making the first ten minutes of THE WIZARD OF OZ in color -- the way they were alwaze meant to be!

But the process of colorization can't be entirely blamed on Turner -- I used to have a neighbor about 25 years ago who was one of the first to work at colorizing movies. Most of his clients were the studios themselves, tarting up their films like so many cadavers painted by Forest Lawn morticians, in the hopes of getting higher syndication prices for them. Turner simply followed their lead...

This is one of the more comprehensive. Readers may want to copy them off and watch for them as we watch this yet again, as surely we all will.
