However, Wicked is different in a lot of ways. First off, the Broadway show came before the recent OZ film. (So Please disregard the "origin" of the Wicked Witch of the West in Oz the Great and Powerful). I must add also Glee has pretty much "butchered" a lot of songs so, please, I'm begging, disregard those covers also, and listen to the actual songs on the Wicked original cast album.

I think Wicked could be a great film, not only because of the great songs, but the story and theme of "being who you are." Sorry -- Guess I am kind of fan boy

P.S- Granted, Mamma Mia was a financial success. However, the script was boring and it seemed clear that Mamma Mia was a stage Musical, and maybe should have stayed as one.

I started to think maybe movie musicals were back on the rise. My thoughts and theories about this seem to have been given some validation: The movie version of the stage musical "Wicked" may be in the works. It could come out as soon as 2014.

However, this possible release date comes from IMDB (and we all know how unreliable they can be). However, I must address both the success and failure of recent movie musicals. There have been successful musical films like "HairSpray", "Chicago", and of course who can forget "Les Miserables" (a personal favorite of mine.) However, there have also been disappointments like "Mamma Mia" and "The Producers".

So I ask you guys this, do You think Wicked would make a good film? Could it possibly be an Oscar contender? Or if it's bad, do you think it could be a possible Razzie contender? Please be careful since I am a Wicked fan (look at my signature).
