This was the worst action movie I've ever seen.
 
I've never played the video game.And I don't need to.Even if it was 100% similar,the movie would still be bad.
 
It was THE PUNISHER with a better crafted evil plan,but less entertaining action sequences.
 
Mark Wahlberg deserves the nomination.Nelly Furtado appeared for 30 seconds,and she delivers the best performance of the movie.I'm not joking.She has potential.
 
There was no conflict with MAX's moral issues.Actually,MAX had no inner conflicts at all.
 
The slow-motion is an amateur technique and it's presented like we're supposed to be dazzled by it.

Well, I'll tell you anyway. It's not loyal to the video game. There's winged demons and stuff, which are not in the game. The movie also tries too hard to be like the "Bourne" movies. In the end, the movies comes across as a mix of undercover cop, action, and slight fantasy, and it doesn't mix well. That and it's your usual Marky Mark going around looking all angry, and cute little Mila trying to pass as a hitwoman, which she doesn't because she's too cute looking.

I'm not settling with anything.

If I go to see a movie,and I have to choose only one in the list,I'll choose the most appealing.

This isn't that appealin'for me,so I'm pre-callin'it "O.K.".But I'll watch it with an open mind.Therefor,it can be good,bad or average.Because of reviews and audiences's comments,it will most likely be bad.I'll take my chances.

Anyway,can anyone(not just B.H.B.,who seems to be the only one replyin'my posts)tell me what's wrong with the movie,without spoilers?

Nah, it's not. Stick with the "Die Hard" or "Bourne" movies instead ... GOOD action flicks. That's the problem with movie goers nowadays, they settle for "okay" movies.

Some video games based on movies are okay, depending on who the developers and publishers are. The Warriors game was published by Rockstar (same people who made the Grand Theft Auto series) and it was generally reviewed pretty well.

A lot of games these days make their money off licensing, making a game out of a movie that's being currently released. Like ded Grimley mentioned, they'll only make games based on movies that are box office hits. Since Hollywood is too afraid to take risks on original ideas. Just like all these stupid remakes they make.

The thing is that video games have become so much more a part of a culture than when we were young and they were just being developed. Now that we can have a game where a majority of the population is going to know the basic premise behind, we're just going to keep seeing more and more because they're an easy payday. While they've yet to make a decent video game-to-movie, think of the even worse movie-to-video game transition. I know we're all itchin to play the new Up game, right? After finally seeing this (and being a big video game fan) I have to say I wasn't completely disappointed. Although Det. Jim Bravura in the game was a older man in his 50's and wore glasses. I didn't think Mona Sax should have been played by Mila Kunis. Although I did like what they did with the drug Valkyre.

If you watch past the credits, it hints at a sequel. Ah yeah!!! Anyone heard about a God of War adaptation?!?

I just saw this underwhelming dreck of a movie, and it while it as laughably
inept as The Happening, it's still comparable to last year's Hitman.
In the words of Roger Ebert, 'this fails the Gene Siskel Test: 'Is this film more
interesting than a documentary of the same actors having lunch?' No joke;
after the first ten minutes, I wasn't even watching the movie, I was just
staring at the screen with a muted expression the whole damn time! Do not
under any circumstances, see this movie.

As for Mila Kunis, she's not particularly bad in this movie, but as far as bad

Yes, the only passable game adaptation is Mortal Combat. I will have my fingers crossed for The Prince of Persia. I'm a huge fan (or used to) so...yeah.

Yeah, there's nothing dumber than trying the make a PG-13 movie out of a mature-only game. Unless the parents don't care about what their kids play, the people who have played this game are over 18, and they are the ones who will be going to see the movie. I think what happened with "Max Payne" was that it was effected by "Bangkok Dangerous". Both are movies about hitmen, and since "BD" didn't do all that well at the B.O., "MP" had to have some changes to it so it would stick out more, like I don't know, winged demons that have nothing to do with the game itself.

I agree, although I actually thought Silent Hill wasn't to bad, visually it was spot on with the game it was based on, not to mention it looked pretty damn cool, the dialog left alot to be desired but overall it was alright. This on the other hand looks like a Sin City rip-off with cheap looking bullet-time effects... and it was PG-13.
