And "Showgirls" would have been much, much, MUCH awful if it didn't have the gratuitous nudity ... and that too-funny-for-words "seizure" sex in the pool scene!

Not that there’s all that much difference. “Burlesque” is like “Showgirls” without the redemptively gratuitous sex and nudity.

I meant that if a movie has 40-49% in R.T. and/or Metacritic is average to bad,but if it has 0-10% it's awful.I'm sure BURLESQUE will be bad,but we need to wait to the last second to see how bad it is...specially to see if it's a Razzie contender.Although even if it has good reviews it can still be nominated in acting categories.

And 45% is still very Razzie worthy. Remember, RT rating is only ONE of many factors in choosing contenders.

There are other factors, like being a box office bomb. Add that to sub-par reviews and we may have a contender! We'll know soon enough.

The concensus is in. The movie isn't among the 10-15 worst reviewed of the year. Critics say the musical numbers and the cast are fine, including Aguilera, but the script is awful.

If they should lead in what information we use, then if the reviews get worse, we can give it just one suggestion on the nominations ballot for Worst Screenplay.

Oh my lord, you must see this video! I swear, it's not parody, it really must be how Nic Cage chooses the movies he stars in.

I'm pretty sure that this has more chance of being up for "Remake Or Rip-off" for being considered a rip-off of CHICAGO and SHOWGIRLS.

I don't see what it has to do with this movie, but it was hilarious!

You've probably heard early reviews praising Aguilera's performance. She could be good, but this is a musical, so it could be one of those "easy performances," like Beyonce's Golden Globe-nominated performance in DREAMGIRLS.

You should probably drop this from the ballot, if only because there are many, much worse movies to tackle for 2010.

LOL why do you want this movie to be nominated no matter what? The reviews are already in, it has 51/100 on MetaCritic and it also seems to be doing very well at the box office (at least judging from Wednesday-Thursday numbers) so I realy don't see this being a Razzie contender. Unless people are just mad they were wrong painting this as the next Showgirls trainwreck so they want it nominated to avoid admitting their mistake.

I don't want it to get nominated because I haven't seen it.I'm just repeating what others have said.

Repeating what? That it reminds us of Chicago, Showgirls, and Glitter? I hope you don't want it to get nominated, because this movie is merely below average and doesn't deserve much of our attention at all.

I take back everything I ever said about Burlesque.  It was delightful, campy, and the most fun I've had at the movies in ages.  Even Aguilera is acceptable in it.  I'm refocusing my all my energy on The Last Airbender and Alice and Wonderland.
