In Response to Razzotto, above: As the parent of a 9-year-old, I do not consider a film featuring defecation, urination, projectile vomiting and drunken sexual encounters as running jokes to be a "kids movie."  And the fact that Jim Carrey wanted nothing to do with this sequel IS relevant, because the film's makers went ahead with the project knowing that the one thing everyone loved from the first MASK would be missing in this one. Also missing from SON OF THE MASK were amusing jokes, any non-obnoxious characters, subtlety or taste of any kind, or any point to the film except to make money (which it also failed to do). Sorry to break it to you, Razzotto (great Forum signature, by the way!) but SON OF THE MASK is leading the pack in our current Forum Poll for Worst Picture ...

Well, I have to admit, I thought this was going to suck, but my
kids loved this movie. Personally, I could give a rat's -ss about
Jim Carrey.
As far as the baby bodily fluid jokes... they're in every baby
movie. It was exaggerated in this one because it's mask baby.
That didn't bother me. It's clearly geared towards kids -- the
silliness, cartooniness, music, running warner brothers parody.
So, I have to agree, not so razzable IMHO.

Well I agree the movie sucks ass - however, my 2 and 1/2 yr old loves it to death. So badly I had to purchase it off of amazon (for almost nothing LOL)
She has other favorites too, The Neverending Story (also in the worst 100), and the usual kids stuff - number 1 however is "Max and Ruby"
Babies, (not over 6) love watching other babies, its a known fact. I figure to her the baby in son of the mask is her hero since he can do all these wild things that she cannot do.
cheers....thanks for the rant!

The one thing that makes me want to razz this movie.. and made me do so countless times on the IMDB was that The Mask was never a kiddie character. Making a movie based on The Mask and directing it to children is like making action figures and battle playsets based off of The Godfather.

The Mask was never about making kiddies happy. It was about inserting a carnal destructive cartoonish force into real life situations and watching people die horrible gruesome consequences because of the unleashed desires of the wearer and the merciless desires of carnage from the Mask itself. That was the basis of the Dark Horse comic book on which the movie originated from, not some kiddie fantasy land.

Well, anyway, inexperienced cast, inexperienced director, and an inquisitive plot, this film definitely deserved to be nominated for those 8 2005 Razzie nominations, which does include Worst Picture. Believe me, when I first saw the teaser trailer of this movie, I was thinking, "Man, can't they ever get enough!?" I'm sure those 8 Razzie nomination certainly paid off. But note this, Jim Carrey did get a Razzie nomination for Worst New Star for the first one, THE MASK, along with ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE and DUMB AND DUMBER. But Carrey got a Golden Glob nomination for Best Actor for the original MASK as well.
The Mormons were'nt really popular in the beginning, they're now becoming more popular, even in Hollywood.

New Star?? Oh come on. Don't you remember Jim Carrey's vampire movie "Once Bitten"? That had star quality written all over it... a black hole.

I'm glad that was the last time Carrey was ever on a razzie ballot ( I think). He's very good in serious movies.

As horrible as Son of the Mask was, I did enjoy watching Alan Cumming for the whole half hour he was onscreen (not as an animation). Heck, I could watch a six hour film of Alan Cumming eating peanut butter, staring at the tv, and scratching himself.

My two year old brother liked the dog, so he was happy. I want to try buying it on dvd for him, and so I can cap the Alan shots (especially when he's randomly sunbathing).

When I saw the trailer for that movie when I went to the theater one day............ good god.

I knew it would suck just by looking at that ad.

"Our Son, is bouncing off the walls!"
"*bouncing* GET ME OUT OF THIS MOVIE!"

I bet Jim Carry skeet shoots DVDs of this crap.

Knew this was going to be a stinker the minute word hit the press here in Oz that Jamie Kennedy was poncing around town with a "don't you know who I am" attitude.

Obviously Aussie women can spot a stinker from a mile off!
