Well, I was just talking about the first Saw film only. I do agree that the sequels turned into horror films. And Coraline had an underlying sense of dread, once she found the other world. It's not that the last 10 minutes are scary. Everything builds up to the climax. 

And although this isn't related, the ending of Kill Bill Vol. 2 made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Um, no Mister White -- there's not a shred of dread in that movie, until some time near the middle (or end of the second act). And the tone of the last 10 minutes of a movie doesn't influence the overall genre of a movie -- the FIRST 10 minutes do. 

I'm calling it yet again, Coraline = semi-dark fantasy.  
The Four Horsemen of the Moviepocalypse: uncalled for sequels/remakes/reboots, 3-D surcharges, untalented "celebrities", and anything with Michael Bay's name attached to it.

MWG,despite whatever Burn and Michaels say,you're entitled to your own opinion...on whether you liked or not a movie.But if you can't even label them with the right genre...and it's not a matter of opinion.Movies have specific genres.

You won't be a good critic because you mistake those genres,but you won't be because you think the genre depends on something as trivial as the villain's weapon.

Like I said before,the SAW movies are supposed to be scary.You say they're not horror because they didn't really scare you.That's not because they're not horror,but because they fail at what they're trying by focusing too much on gore.A lot of non-horror movies have scary moments and/or scenes,that means nothing.GRAN TORINO is a drama with a lot of comic relief,but nobody would call it a comedy.

I'm saying the first Saw isn't a horror movie. I don't care about the others. I'm talking about the first one only. How many times do I have to say that? 

Second, I don't label genres incorrectly. I'm not saying Coraline is only a horror film. It's also fantasy, with a mix of adventure and horror. Even the book of Coraline is said to be a horror fantasy novel.

I really don't want to be "that guy," but it's not up for debate. A lot of other issues about film are, but not what genre a movie is. It's a fact, not an opinion. Regardless of the amount of suspense, all SAW movies are horror. The book CORALINE mixes fantasy with horror, but the movie is more of a fantasy.

Thank you, Vits! That's the point Burn and I were trying to make: Yes, "Coraline" had aspects of horror (as Burn put it, they could scare anyone who is of preteen age), but in the end, the movie is pure fantasy to its very core.

I've watched Splice and yes, it was pretty thrilling!! I will try to watch Vacancy though. :)

I am fan of horror movies. This year I haven't really enjoyed any horror movies, but I am awaiting the sequel to PARANORMAL ACTIVITY to be shown later this year. The trailer isn't really promising, and I don't think it could surpass the first one, but it's still worth a try. I'm also waiting for THE BLIND -- a Korean Thriller movie that's not horror, but I saw the trailer and I think it's promising. 

Koreans are good at making horror and thriller movies.

vacancy seems like a nice movie, by the way you are talking about it. So I guess the next time when I watch a movie online, this one would be on my list. 

Horror movies give me enough excitement to have an adrenaline rush.
