BUCKY LARSON may claim to have been "born to be a star" in the film's title, but in the real world, Bucky looks mighty schmucky, debuting to some of the worst numbers ever recorded for a nationwide release:  Opening night grosses were a massively under-endowed $360 per theatre -- meaning not even 50 tickets were sold among five or more showings at each location -- and it was DOWNHILL from there (LINK).

UPDATE: In it's second weekend, BUCKY dropped more than 72% from its dismal opening numbers -- Nearly putting it in GIGLI territory as a Box Office Bomb of Historic Proportions...

EVEN MORE EMBARRASSING UPDATE: By Wednesday, Sept. 21 (12 days after it opened) BUCKY was down to just $31 per theatre. Based on the current national average movie ticket price of $7.86 (LINK) that means each venue showing this sold LESS THAN FOUR TICKETS for the entire day (resulting in at least one show each day playing to a COMPLETELY EMPTY HOUSE)!

FINAL EMBARRASSING UPDATE: BUCKY was finally pulled from release after just 2 weeks in theatres. Its final domestic gross: $2,529,395 (LINK). In fact, it did so poorly stateside that it may never be released in foreign territories, and could be on DVD as early as next Tuesday...

WOW!  Do we gotta contenduh or what!?!
