I was interested in The Book of Eli at first, but then the negative reviews came in. I lost interest. Then, a day later, it jumped from 19% to 50%. I have now regained my interest in the movie.

Wait, so you were interested in seeing the movie, then you weren't interested because it's at 19% at RT, but then you are interested again because it's up to 50% (which is still an F grade)?
Me, personally, I don't care to watch Denzel aimlessly walking through a desert, killing people one moment and then quoting the Bible the next minute. Hmm, going around quoting the Bible, but then killing anyone who disagrees with you ... yep, that sums up the Catholic faith in a nutshell!

That's not how the plot goes, but watching The Book of Eli is better than watching Jackie Chan babysit and fight crime simultaneously.

The Spy Next Door already looks like a strong contender for next year's Razzies. It currently has 9% at RT and the CONSENSUS says "Lacking a script funny enough to cover up for Jackie Chan's fading physical gifts, The Spy Next Door fails on every conceivable level." Ouch!
By the way, the new site looks AWESOME!

It's January 17, and we're still looking for the first big hit of 2010. Avatar reigns for the fifth straight week, while The Book of Eli settles for second. Here's the week ahead: 1/19 On DVD
There isn't anything big coming out on DVD this week. Here's what IS coming out:
The Invention of Lying
Whiteout Pandorum Gamer 1/22 In Theaters
Legion - Will this be our first big hit of 2010?
Tooth Fairy - Will this be worse than The Spy Next Door?
Extraordinary Measures - Will this be a Bonus Worst of the Weak?
Those questions and more will be answered within the week. Until next time, so long everybody!

1. Legion: No, it will come in second or third place, while "Avatar" goes on to replace "The Dark Knight" as the second highest grossing movie of all time.
2. Tooth Fairy: Disney continues to de-man-a-ize Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Yes, this will be as bad as "Spy Next Door".
3. Extraordinary Measures: This is a Hallmark TV movie with A-list stars and somehow managed to get into theaters. Bonus Worst indeed!

As the rock group America once sang, "Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't already have." I'm afraid that Disney is simply not to blame for anything regarding Dwayne Johnson.

February and March have caught the brunt of my attention already. Here are some films I predict will be considered for the 2010 RAZZIES. Colors reflect the month of release.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Once hotly anticipated, many mistakes were made in the production. Percy Jackson fans started arguing in frustration over the casting, and the CGI does not suit the tone well.
Brooklyn's Finest
I never thought Ethan Hawke or Richard Gere (Autumn in New York) were good signs.
Clash of the Titans [remake]
The original was not so bad, but it was only made in 1981. Remaking a movie that recent never goes well. The second of several Greek Mythology related movies this year, indeed the return of the "sword and sandal" genre may be a nasty one.
How to Train Your Dragon
DreamWorks Animation is either hit or miss. Gerard Butler doesn't sound good.
The Back-Up Plan
A romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez. I expect this to go the way of The Wedding Planner and Monster-in-Law.
Death at a Funeral
IIRC, the dreaded remake of a 2007 British film starring people like Chris Rock.
Kick-A**
Matthew Vaughn has Swept Away on his resume. It also stars Nicolas Cage.
A Nightmare on Elm Street [remake]
This one is similar to the remake of Friday the 13th.
Shrek Forever After
The first two Shreks were among the best movies from the former half of last decade. Will this one get mixed reviews like Shrek the Third? Will it redeem the series? Or will it bring the series to an embarrassing wrap-up?
The A-Team
This movie is already guaranteed for consideration this year.
The Karate Kid [remake]
See notes for The A-Team
Footloose [remake]
Another remake of a film from the 1980's. It's way too recent!
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Need I say more?
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
A live-action movie published under Walt Disney Pictures. AND it stars Nicolas Cage
Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore
Self-explanatory
The Other Guys
It stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. The RAZZIES have never liked any of Adam McKay's movies. We're going to dislike this one, but most men under age 25 around where I live...will probably like it, because they like Will Ferrell.
Resident Evil: Afterlife
To put it really bluntly, it's time to get our act together and nominate Resident Evil for a RAZZIE.
Jacka** 3D
Jacka**: The Movie won the special award for "Most Flatulent Teen-Targeted Movie" in 2002. Jacka**: Number Two evaded the 2006 Razzies. How badly will this one bomb?
Saw VII 3D
It's a distant longshot to expect this series to be fully redeemed.
Red Dawn
Same notes as Footloose [remake].

Cashing in on the Harry Potter style fantasy novel market.
I like Ethan Hawke best when teamed with Richard Linklater. His choices in films these days have been very hit or miss, mostly miss.
I love Greek Mythology as much as the next person. Sure, CGI-wise, this movie will beat the sh*t out fo the original's stop motion claymation. However, I can wait for Redbox.
This one looks interesting. DreamWorks usually rakes in the profits, while Pixar rakes in the Oscars.
Does anyone even care about J.Lo any more?
Send this one straight to the Worst Remake pile.
Little pre-teen assassins. I can already see the piles of hate mail that parents and watchdog groups will be writing into the studio for this one.
But it will have modern day fashion, slang, and technology and will have the pacing of a music video ... so that brain dead teens will be able to relate to it.
Thankfully, this will be the last of the series.
There goes more of childhood being raped for profit by H-Wood.
See "A-Team"
As I turn 30 years old this year, I'm amazed that everything I watched as a youth can now be seen once again ... only in sh*ttier quality.
No, that's enough.
So it's not enough to make remakes and adapations of old TV series, novels, video games, comic books, amusement park rides, and board games, now we'll just make live action movies of animated movies.
Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?
Top contender for Worst Ensemble Cast!
An army of Milla Jovovichs?! Where do I sign up?! Just watch the direct to DVD, CGI movie instead.
Oh goodie, morons in 3-D.
Isn't this series on its death-bed as it were?
Seriously, I'll be 30 this year, yet the same movies from 3 decades ago are still in theaters!

I usually don't make first impressions of movies until I see a trailer and/or some critical reception. Don't expect me to make first impressions of those films until their release dates get closer.

Hey, things are coming together nicely. I see the rom-com bomb Leap Year, Tim Allen's latest misfire Crazy on the Outside and Jackie Chan's ripoff The Spy Next Door all have their own threads. Just need the HeadRAZZ's opening page for LY and TSND and things will be good to go.
We're gonna have so many ripoffs, remakes and sequels this year. I'm not sure how many rom-com bombs we'll have, though. We'll have a remake (Edge of Darkness) and a rom-com bomb (When in Rome) on 29 Jan 2010 for sure. It's like the studios just pile them up and shovel them into the manure spreader. . . .
We have three question marks coming up this week. One, which stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Ashley Judd and Julie Andrews, The Tooth Fairy, looks likely based on its bad trailer, but we've been burned by Johnson before with The Game Plan, which turned out not anywhere near bad enough for our consideration. Extraordinary Measures and Legion have decent trailers, but, when I start thinking about their plots, both could wind up going either way. It will be interesting to see how many if any of them warrant our attention.

Do you really want fear of remakes. I grew up watching Fantasia's The Sorcerer's Apprentice, one of the greatest Mickey Mouse cartoons ever made, and they make a live-action movie called The Sorcerer's Apprentice. What I'm expecting from Disney is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, an adaptation of one of the best video games ever. I'm new to this forum, and I'm also going through a bad economy like all of you. Recently, we've seen a surge of remakes that have become box office flops. Speed Racer, Dragonball: Evolution, Land of the Lost, and even Fame flopped only making $22 million off its $25 million budget. Others include Bangkok Dangerous, The Taking of Pelham 123, Street Fight: Legend of Chun Li, and even a rare 2009 movie that I've never heard of called Band Slam flopped because, you know, never heard of it. Did a little research on box office flops of 2009 and found out Band Slam bends toward the silly High School Musical and Hannah Montana area, which aspiring filmmakers like me fear a lot. I want to make animation and good kids stuff when I'm an adult, but I fear so much that I make up the story that they are making High School Musical and Hannah Montana because they know my name and will try to prevent me from ever getting my dream career. My influences come from the Rankin Bass Christmas specials, Jim Henson's line of work, Disney's library of real animation, Pixar, George Lucas' Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Dr. Seuss, and also Don Bluth's work apart from Disney on animated films from the 80's like The Secret of Nimh, An American Tail, and The Land Before Time.

Do you think I was young enough to grow up watching Smurfs, Thundercats, and reruns of shows like A-Team and Dukes of Hazzard, and Alvin and the Chipmunks?
