WOW! 215 films...117 of which have at least SOMETHING worthy of Razzie consideration. And Hollywood wonders what's wrong with this year's box office?!?!?!

When is AEON FLUX scheduled to be released?? I just saw the trailer, and it sure looks like it could be CATWOMAN II (Oscar winning actress playing a cartoonish character)

How's this for INSTANT response? I just checked the IMdB, and AEON FLUX (starring Oscar winner Charlize Theron) is due out from Paramount/MTV Films December 2 of this year in the US, and December 30 in the UK. Meaning it QUALIFIES as a contender for this year's 26th Razzies®!! |

And supposedly the lovely Ms. Theron is thought to be a front runner for a Little Gold Naked Man for Best Actress in the film NORTH COUNTRY. If she also gets a Worst Actress Razzie nomination for AEON FLUX, she could be the first to be nominated in both leading categories the same year!!! Here's hoping! -BooBerry |

Doubtful, Boo
, considering that Charlize Theron would have to exceed the awfulness of Jenny McCarthy (DIRTY LOVE), Jessica Biel (STEALTH), Hilary Duff (THE PERFECT MAN), Paris Hilton (the upcoming PLEDGE THIS!), and esp. the front-runner Tara Reid for Worst Picture contender ALONE IN THE DARK(among MANY others), just to HOPE to get a Razzie nom...not possible!!! Not to mention Gwyneth Paltrow in PROOF -- Oscar contender my (of all people) had it right when he pointed out on his show how boring, stuck-up and over-hyped she is ...I'd give her a Razzin' before the sexy, ,and more talented Charlize !

It's ironic, that Charlize couldn't get a part after auditioning for SHOWGIRLS, was a Razzie Nominee for SWEET NOVEMBER, and now she's an Oscar winner, Golden Globe winner, SAG winner (In addition to countless critics awards) for MONSTER, and an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG nominee for THE LIFE AND DEATH OF PETER SELLERS. I think she's very talented, And is a profile in persistence.

I was just curious -- How many of these 222 titles have others on this Forum seen? I've caught about a third of 'em (around 75 titles, so far) and I've gotta say: 2005 deserves a Razzie for having SO MANY ROTTEN MOVIES
-- and that's in just the first 9 months!!

Don't hold your breath waiting for Hollywood to learn anything -- Here it is early October, and I've only seen TWO REALLY GOOD movies this year: KUNG FU HUSTLE (which I rented on DVD and then bought) and, yes, CAPOTE, in which I was blown away by the writing and performances, especially Clifton Collins Jr as Perry Smith. If The Oscars® mean ANYTHING (and, hey, The RAZZIES® are kind of all about how they DON'T!) Collins will be grasping A Little Gold Naked Man next March 5...

How about Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Razz, you think he'll get nominated?

The Current Industry Buzz for Best Actor centers on Philip Seymour Hoffman for CAPOTE, Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash in WALK THE LINE and Jeff Daniels for THE SQUID AND THE WHALE. For Best Actress, the two names most frequently mentioned at this point (early October) are Charlize Theron for NORTH COUNTRY and Reese Witherspoon (as June Carter Cash) in WALK THE LINE... I find it interesting that fellow former Best Actress Oscar® winners Theron and Frances McDormand appear together in BOTH NORTH COUNTRY and AEON FLUX -- And that BOTH could be fellow nominees for BOTH Awards (Oscars® and RAZZIES®) for BOTH films (Theron as BOTH Best/Worst Actress and McDormand as BOTH Best/Worst Suporting Actress)... |

Not to mention Tommy Lee Jones for the Three Burials. How about the supporting actor races?

What about "War of the Worlds", and donate a new category for it -
WORST MOVIE ENDING OF THE YEAR I liked the acting and the film iin all, but the ending.... (I know Spielberg wanted to maintain the originality of the original movie version and the book it was based on, but I'm not buying the fake ending at all.) |

The original 1953 George Pal version of WAR OF THE WORLDS, starring Gene Barry and featuring way cool 1950s special effects, is STILL the superior movie. I read somewhere that Paramount is putting out a Special Collector's Edition DVD of this version just before the Spielberg/Cruise remake hits store shelves in November. Do yourself a favor and, if you ony watch ONE of them, make it THE ORIGINAL |
