Speaking of old versus new Sci-Fi classics, has anyone seen The Hallmark Channel's remake of MYSTERIOUS ISLAND with Patrick Stewart? I set my TiVo to catch a repeat of it this week, and was wondering if it's anywhere near as good as the 1960s version with James Mason???
What about "War of the Worlds", and donate a new category for it - WORST MOVIE ENDING OF THE YEAR
I liked the acting and the film iin all, but the ending.... (I know Spielberg wanted to maintain the originality of the original movie version and the book it was based on, but I'm not buying the fake ending at all.)
If they changed the ending, then it wouldn't qualify for worst remake.
"Woody Allen, whatever his failings, does not make movies for morons. Most directors do. Of course, most directors are morons."
I noticed that in THE L.A. TIMES this ayem, the print ad for DOOM went from being full-page last Friday (when it opened) to being TEENY-TINY today (a mere one week later). Does this suggest that Universal agrees that with us that DOOMSUCKS?!?!?
Personally I think it would be a shame if Russell Crowe didn't get an Oscar nomination for CINDERELLA MAN. The movie's plot was familiar, but he gave a great performance as a wonderful human being, without actually being one in real life ( Zing! ).
From looking about elsewhere on The Razzie Forum, it looks like Russell Crowe WILL be nominated for at least ONE Award this year -- In the newest RAZZIE Category: He's a "surefire contender" for his "telephone tossing routine" as 2005's Most Triesome Tabloid Target or Twosome...
I've got a title I just saw on B.O. Mojo that's not on your list. Okay, it appears to be in only ONE thatre in New York, and grossed a whopping $812 over Thanksgiving Weekend, but it's something called GOD'S SANDBOX...
Charlize Theron is a great actress... She doesn't deserve to be nominated to the Razzie Award for Worst Actress.. Gwyneth Paltrow is a brilliant actress, too. It's ridiculous to say that she has a terrible performance in "Proof". I think it's her best performance since "Shakespeare in Love". She's great but I, personally, don't think that she'll be nominated to the oscars for that movie.
I think that Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie deserve to be nominated to Worst Actress. Rumor has it... is a f**k'in sh*t and Mrs and Mrs. Smith is terrible.
For worst couple, I suggest:
Samuel L.Jackson and (the most idiot actor of all) Eugene Levy in "The Man".
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (Mr and Mrs Smith)
Sean William Scott and Johnny Knoxville (Dukes of Hazzard)
Adam Sandler and Chris Rock or Burt Reynolds (The Longest Yard)
Paris Hilton and that guy (House of Wax)..
For Worst Supporting Actress, I suggest:
Jessica Alba (Into the Blue, The Fantastic Four)
Jessica Simpson (Dukes of Hazzard)
Carmen Electra (Cheaper by Dozen 2, Dirty Love)
Paris Hilton (House of Wax)
Ashley Simpson (Undiscovered)
I think it will be a great competion for this five actresses. They are all bad, not talented and they think are great and sexy. Go home! Go out! Hollywood is to great for you!
I’ve seen 33 movies of 2005 so far. I usually watch a few more and make
my final list before the Oscar telecast. But here are my list of the movie's
i've seen (with my comments)
Batman Begins /S
Be Cool /S* (Good sequel, until my brother’s DVD went bonkers on us.)
BEWITCHED /R* (Really good comedy)
Breakfast on Pluto (Uhhh......bizarre)
Brokeback (not Bokeback) Mountain
Broken Flowers (Uhhh......a good bizarre)
Chicken Little /a
Crash* (better than that deadguy76’s pointless review of this on your
Diary of a Mad Black Woman*
THE DUKES OF HAZZARD /R (I’ll take this over THE RINGER any day. See
GUESS WHO /R* (Good)
HERBIE: FULLY LOADED /R (Jar-Jar Binks IS a better CGI-actor than the
Hide and Seek*
HOUSE OF WAX* (aka HOUSE OF WHACKS) /R* (Actually a pretty great
horror film, with the exception of Paris Hilton whose scenes border along
the lines of soft porn.)
Hustle and Flow
Kung Fu Hustle /f*
THE LONGEST YARD /R * (Shame on you guys, because this was actually
Mr. & Mrs. Smith* (I’m glad you got took this off your Razzie
considerations list! This should be considered as a spin-off to “True Lies”)
Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior /f
Pride & Prejudice / R
Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (Actually a pretty decent final
installment. I’m with the fans in taking this off the Razzie list.)
Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride /a
The Up Side of Anger*
Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price /d (if you allow direct-to-DVD titles
on your list, maybe you should nominate LEFT BEHIND: WORLD AT WAR
for a Razzie for worst screenplay.)
WAR OF THE WORLDS /R (Good up until the ending, which should’ve been
changed to Cruise and Fanning both shooting the wife, son, and all their
relatives, said they died in the alien attack, and took up residece with
Katie Holmes. I’m joking around, but the idea sounds better than the
The Wedding Date* (This is the only movie on my list that SHOULD’VE
been considered: Screenplay full of cliché’s, short on time, gets right to
the point, blah, blah, blah, yatta-yatta-yatta, etc.)
XXX:STATE OF THE UNION /S* (Sob! That’s me shedding a tear for the
premature end of a good alternate Bond/hip spy franchise....that is, until
it becomes a STV series)
I am glad you are thinking of nominating THE RINGER, because it looks
like crap. I haven’t seen it yet, but I have NO intention of seeing this filth.
I am a disabled person, and it insults my intelligence to think Johnny
Knoxville can go so LOW as to pretend to be a mentally challenged person
JUST to rig the Special Olympics. Shame on the Farrelly Brothers on
making fun of the mentally challenged, and shame on Johnny Knoxville.
Being a big sensation on the reality show “Jackass” doesn’t say alot about
It's an absolute crime that you don't have "WHERE THE TRUTH LIES" writ
large, all caps, bolded, italicized, flashing in neon with arrows pointing to it.
It may not be as comically horrific as "Son of the Mask" or "Alone in the
Dark," and I'm sure virtually nobody saw it, plus it came from a great
filmmaker (Atom Egoyan), but it is most definitely one of the worst five films
of the year (as I will be writing in on my ballot)! :-)
One not nominated.. anyone see that AWFUL AWFUL Last Days film loosely based around the death of Kurt Cobain? Well.. As bad as Son Of The Mask and Bewitched are at least they contain cinematic essentials such as characters and narrative..
Click below to see a spoof of awful Jessica Simpson version of "These Boots are Made for Walkin'," called These Dukes are Not Worth Watching, dissing all the remakes from 2005 (most of which were nominated or winners at the Razzies)!
