WE ADMIT, WE ARE AMONG THOSE WHO ENJOYED the ODDBALL INDIE HIT THAT WAS NAPOLEON DYNAMITE. AND WE GET HOW the IDEA of GIVING ONE of THAT FILM's PRINCIPAL CREATORS a SHOT at MAKING ANOTHER CULT HIT MAKES SENSE... BUT IF GENTLEMEN BRONCOS IS ANY INDICATION, JARED HESS MAY BE a "ONE CULT HIT WONDER." PUBLIC AWARENESS of THIS FILM IS ALMOST NON-EXISTENT. AND THE REVIEWS HAVE BEEN EVEN LESS THAN "LESS THAN ENTHUSIASTIC." SO IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS FATED to END UP on the BONE PILE of FORGETTABLE (and UNDERSTANDABLY FORGOTTEN) 2009 DUDS... THAT IS, UNLESS YOU, OUR VOTING MEMBERS BOTHER to SEE IT...and THEN BOTHER to NOMINATE IT. SO, WHADDAYA SAY?? WHATEVER IT IS, BELOW IS YER CHANCE to SAY IT...
CLEMENT: "To prepare Michael for the humiliation of possibly getting a RAZZIE® nomination, we asked him to show up in a dress for this public event..." |

Sorry, but I don't share your beliefs, HeadRazz. I thought "Napoleon Dynamite" was one of THE WORST films of all time, and the WORST comedy movie ever. Why that movie won an MTV Movie Award for Best Movie is beyond belief.
So if this one gets nominated for a Razzie, it'll be his long-OVERDUE Razzie in my book. In fact, let me get on the bandwagon now: See this movie and then VOTE FOR JARED HESS!!! |

I never really thought this film looked very good. I
could tell from the trailer that it was a blatant and probably half-hearted attempt to recapture the essence of Napoleon Dynamite. And I agree that Napoleon Dynamite taking Best Movie at MTV was ridiculous, especially over The Incredibles, Ray, and Spiderman 2. Of course, it was an MTV Film... And just to put my two-cents in for the Razzies... did anybody other than me think that Away We Go was like watching a bad sequel to Juno. Ugh! Easily one of my personal worst films of 2009... |

I wouldn't call ND the worst movie of all time, but I clearly think that it is one of the most over-rated. I myself did not find ND funny.

I have to chime in on your side as well. The appeal of ND completely eluded me. While it certainly wasn't the worst comedy ever (or even the worst of the past decade) I just didn't find anything amusing about it. So it shouldn't be surprising that giving one of it's principle creators a shot at another film was a little like giving a toddler a loaded gun. Obviously, a lot of things could end up happening...and almost all of them are unspeakably bad. |

I find it very funny that the MTV Movie Awards are starting (or at least trying) to gain some kind of merit as a "serious award" show that actually has some meaning. Seeing as how they were one of the unholy trinity of award shows that named "Twilight" Best Movie of 2008 (Kids' Choice and Teens' Choice being the other two), that takes away any creditability right there.

You people are all IDIOTS! Napoleon Dynamite is a funny movie. Better than most comedies today, no matter how tone-deaf it is. And I've never heard of this movie, nor have I seen any trailers for it. It's probably just another forgettable picture.

Unholy trinity! Hit the nail on the head there, Michaels! And I've never taken the MTV Movie Awards seriously. I'm just making a comment on the state of mainstream film in general. I mean, isn't the ceremony "fan-voted"??? |

N.D. was OKAY, at best. Yes, it has a cult following, but as we said, it was a movie that was produced by MTV Films which then won the MTV Movie Award for Best Picture. Yeah, I'm sure the "fans" voted for that...

As much as I hate to say it, that probably was a
legitimately voted win. Tons of people within the MTV demographic think that Napoleon Dynamite is the greatest thing since sliced bread, so that's probably how it was able to win over far more superior films. But back to Gentleman Broncos: it doesn't look funny, and it looks way too Napoleon Dynamite-ish, just as I saw Away We Go as a rip-off of Juno |

Of course, Napoleon Dynamite winning the award was WAY before we were inundated with the suddenly vapid, narcissistic, aggravating, snotty, and recent pop culture phenomenon that included Hannah Montana The Movie, High School Musical 3, and Twilight sweeping awards over Iron Man and The Dark Knight. I'm just befuddled why people are into all this brain-dead garbage. It's drop dead what-the-f**kery. |

Agreed. Zac Efron winning Male Performance over Robert Downey, Jr. is one of the biggest entertainment travesties of this decade, alongside Jim Carrey winning Comedic Performance the same year, as the best comedic performance of the eligibility period (another RDJ performance) wasn't even nominated |

The Independent Spirit Awards are the only non-Oscar, Tony, Grammy, Emmy awards I have respect for. For the most part, every time the Oscars give the awards out to all the wrong people, the ISA gives them to all the right people, ie. full sweeps by "Pulp Fiction", "Fargo", "Memento", "Sideways", etc.

1. Ad hominem attacks win no points in debate. Usually they simply emphasize the bankruptcy of the offenders argument. 2. There are movies I like that frankly most people would consider junk. It is okay...the sun rises every morning (or, more accurately, the Earth continues to spin on its axis undisturbed). You happen to enjoy a movie a very large number of people don't like. It really is okay...relax |

I liked Away We Go. It could have used some tightening up in some scenes, including the ending. But there were also scenes that were done very well, and the idea of using the search for some place to settle down as a way of looking into how people screw up their lives was clever. It wasn't even close to Juno, though. Then again, neither was Jennifer's Body from what I've read.
