I thought someone said Bucky's a ripoff of Boogie Nights? RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: While there may be elements of BOOGIE NIGHTS in it, the complete title (BUCKY LARSON: BORN TO BE A STAR) makes it clear the main "inspiration" for this hideous film is A STAR IS BORN... |

Elizabeth Hartman and Judith Barsi are much more talented and beautiful than Scarlett Johansson and Chloe Grace Moretz. Fact. |

Calling Bucky Larsen a Boogie Nights rip-off might make sense, but I think that it's more of a rip-off of Matt Stone and Trey Parker's Orgazmo. They both have a similar starting-off point (A guy who's not familiar with sex gets involved with the porn industry.*) *I haven't seen Bucky Larsen yet, but from what I heard, Bucky doesn't learn to masturbate until he's out of college, implying he doesn't have any experience with sex.

It's not totally unbelievable, but to hear me say it, the odds of such a thing are impractically slim. I knew how to masturbate before I even knew the practice had a name. If omutsu are involved, it can make sex seem redundant.
Whatever the case may be, I don't think it practical either to try and find the one thing Born to Be a Star is a remake/rip-off of. Perhaps HeadRAZZ could make a post in the user discussion forum, then collect submissions for other movies to tag Bucky Larson as a rip-off of come nominations time. Besides, it's already tied with Jack & Jill for most likely Worst Picture winner anyway, so I don't even see the point of giving this Worst PSRR as well.

Here's my current top list of nominees for Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel (so far):
WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS: 1) The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part I: The wooden "acting" makes any amateur, children's theatrical play a work of art. The screenplay sounds like it was written someone so who makes Beavis and Butt-head sound intelligent. The director didn't seem to make an effort (then again with the terrible material I don't blame him for doing a lame effort). This sequel is definitely on top of my list. 2) Spy Kids 4D: All the Time in the World: The lead "actress", Jessica Alba, does her usual performance. This only involves just displaying her pretty face, that's it. At best, the screenplay is boring (that's putting it nicely). Director Robert Rodriguez was obviously more focused on making the movie look good in "4D". Anyone with some form of intelligence will realize that the flick's "fourth dimension", perfume, was just a lame attempt to divert attention from the overall bad quality. 3) Transformers: Dark of the Moon: Michael Bay is at it again. Using action and explosions to hide the movie's weak characters, paper-thin plot and overall bad direction. Shia LaBeouf puts out a lame performance. His lame acting is most obvious when his character, Sam, is supposed to upset. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Megan Fox's replacement, does nothing much apart from displaying her face. As a fan of the animated series this movie is very disappointing. 4) Mr Popper's Penguins: This comedy is not funny. The scenes that are supposed to be funny rely too much on toilet humor. For toilet humor to be funny there must be some element of cleverness to it (e.g. South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut) but this movie is far from clever. Jim Carey's 'childish clown' act goes too far. The director should share some of the blame as there's too much reliance on Carey. 5) Green Lantern: Dull effort at best. This movie suffers most from under-developed characters. Some humor might have helped this remake. However this list might change, I am about to watch some other movies that have been badly received by the critics, movie-goers or both. |

How is Mr. Popper's Penguins a remake (of course I'm having trouble explaining to people that Green Lantern isn't a remake, it's a reimagining, big difference). That likes calling Batman Year One a remake of Batman Begins. When it's clearly a different film and adaption altogether.

Thanks for correcting me whatsthepoint. Mr Popper is not a remake. However it IS a bad adaption of the novel of the same name. I'll update my list very soon.

As this is my first time as a Razzie voter, what type of voting is used for the nomination process?
How many candidates can I nominate for each category?

Here's my second updated list:
WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS: 1) The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part I: The wooden "acting" makes any amateur, children's theatrical play a work of art. The screenplay sounds like it was written someone so who makes Beavis and Butt-head sound intelligent. The director didn't seem to make an effort (then again with the terrible material I don't blame him for doing a lame effort). This sequel is definitely on top of my list. 2) Just Go With It: Rip-off of Cactus Flower. Adam Sandler is (yet again) doing his worst. Brookly Decker should get the nomination for Worst Supporting Actress. No amount of sex appeal will hide her wooden acting. Nick Swardson deserves his nomination for Worst Supporting Actor, SO not funny. Unfunny screenplay is complemented by the poor direction. 3) Spy Kids 4D: All the Time in the World: The lead "actress", Jessica Alba, does her usual performance. This only involves just displaying her pretty face, that's it. At best, the screenplay is boring (that's putting it nicely). Director Robert Rodriguez was obviously more focused on making the movie look good in "4D". As a fan of the animated series this movie is very disappointing. 5) Green Lantern: Dull effort at best. This movie suffers most from under-developed characters. Some humor might have helped this remake. |

Guys, we've been through this. Adaptations have been nominated in this category in the past. Why should it be different now?
By the way, I remember I KNOW WHO KILLED ME was listed as a rip-off of 2 movies and a TV show. Why can't BUCKY LARSON be listed as a rip-off of both BORN TO BE A STAR (all 3 versions?) and BOOGIE NIGHTS? |

I'm fairly positive that Just Go with it is a direct remake of Cactus Flower and not a rip-off (heck the original Screenplay and Play receive credit). Just correcting you on that. |
