Here's the first section of an article from MovieWeb totally trashing the film -- and making it sound like a RAZZIE® Must See:

SET VISIT: Jonah Hex Rises from the Grave in New Orleans!

May 13th, 2010
Jonah Hex
No one wants to hear the words Howard the Duck in comparison to their latest work of cinematic art, but a flood of recent behind the scenes rumors have equated the upcoming Warner Brothers supernatural Western Jonah Hex to that much maligned cult oddity which featured a man in a duck suit making love to a crimped punk rocker while battling a space demon more concerned about the state of his fried eggs than his plans to envelope and destroy the Earth. Plot wise, Howard's stately persona has very little to do with Jonah Hex and his scarred-up face, except that they're both lesser known comic book entities whose audiences have failed to push them into the general pop consciousness before their films' release.

While
Hex certainly has a long, enthusiastic, and constantly growing fanbase, the comic has never reached the same worldly status as our more recent big screen adaptations. It's a dilemma facing most major movie studios at this juncture in time, as our first tier heroes have already dominated the past decade in film. Now, directors and producers are being forced to turn to lesser-known commodities hoping to cash in on their cult status while also pushing them into the upper echelon of entertainment. Which can be a hard road to hoe when most audience members aren't familiar with the source material. The ruse certainly worked for Iron Man, a less significant Marvel character whose Cineplex incarnation has transformed him into an A list player capable of standing toe-to-toe with both Spider-Man and The Dark Knight (as this past weekend's box office numbers will certainly attest). This was made possible through a great script, a dedicated director in Jon Favreau, and a winning performance from Robert Downey Jr.. It's an enterprise built more on quality than pulp continuity, and director Jimmy Hayward is hoping to bring that same type of euphoric melding of ingredients to his take on this Civil War cowboy with the blistered cheek and the fast draw hand.

In the studied world of comic book lore,
Jonah Hex has a colorful history that strongly resonates with lovers of horror fiction and spaghetti westerns in equal measure. The cowboy made his first known appearance in 1971, starring as the main character in both DC Comics' All-Star Western and Weird Western Tales before getting his own self-titled run of books in 1977. Hex's stories always hewed more towards an adult audience with gritty tales focusing on alcoholism, prostitution, and farming. Though steeped in the Western cultural of the late 1800s, those genre tropes were often subverted and sometimes drifted into the world of the paranormal.

A bounty hunter best known for the sickening rope of skin attached to a hole in his cheek,
Jonah's life has been quite storied throughout the years. His mother ran away with a traveling businessman and later became a whore. His physically abusive alcoholic father sold him into Apache slavery for a pile of pelts. He later became part of the tribe, and a second son to the chief. His bride got hacked to pieces by a warring Indian faction just days before their wedding. He joined the Confederate Army during the Civil War, only to later be seen as a turncoat when he surrendered to the Union forces. Twice. He then became a bounty hunter, and its this area of his life that is most referenced in the many newsstand issues featuring the surely gunslinger. It is also known that Hex died in 1904 from a shotgun blast to the chest. Despite the character's back-story being quite adequately fleshed out, the creative forces behind this new incarnation are going in a decidedly different direction with the title.

And here's a LINK to read the entire article...

I wouldn't call it "this year's Howard the Duck". More like "DC Studios' answer to Wild, Wild West". The whole movie looks to rely entirely on 1. People commenting on how scared Hex's face is (as if you need to be reminded), 2. People commenting on how hot and sexy Megan Fox is (as if we need to be reminded), and 3. Hex shooting people up, much like the movie "Shoot 'Em up".

You know what's weird? The first TV spot has one of the greatest songs I've ever heard this year: "Born to Kill" by Airbourne. Jesus Christ, 7 times I listened to that song today.

Megan Fox is getting royally blasted today, even when it was reported she quit the "Transformers 3" franchise on her terms. On DListed, while she isn't getting slammed as hard as Tila Tequila or Lindsay Lohan, let's just say that everyone's wasting their time wishing her luck in porn. Kind of early, though, she's got 5 movies down the pipe.

Personally, I wish her luck. And I know people think I'm an asshole for saying it, but let's face it. There is no way Fox can be as bad as Miley Cyrus. Holy sh*t, I spit at my TV screen when that buck-toothed asshole comes on screen.
You think you know, but you have no idea.

Megan Fox isn't capable of ducking Worst Actress nods. The minute she's cast in something -- boom, there you go!

Is this how low the cinema industry has fallen? Every other actress fails in every movie she's in?

That's what happens when they are hired entirely for their looks, rather than for even one ounce of talent they might have...

I know you might hate me for defending Megan Fox, since I tend to defend the most trashed celebrities, but you talk about her as if she was the worst actress ever. Aside from the movies that got her nominated this year, I don't think she has given any other bad performance...although she hasn't had a main role before, right?

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: The question should not be whether Fox has "given any other bad performance." but rather...WHEN has she ever given a good one?? As for her "performance" in JONAH HEX, the "Southern accent" she exhibits throughout the trailer is lame enough to earn her a Worst Actress nod without any additional evidence being necessary.  Here's a YouTube LINK to see the evidence for yourself...

People trash Megan Fox because she has no real talent. Michael Bay supposedly cast her after filming her washing his car. She strips down to her underwear (or appears in a bikini) in every movie she's in -- no one cares about her "performances," they just want to drool over her. She might as well do porn, since she has the looks and the acting ability for it.

You're trashing her again as the worst actress ever, but she hasn't had enough major roles to judge yet.

Michael Bay originally cast her as an extra in BAD BOYS 2.

I will admit I didn't like her on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (the episode just aired here). I liked that she made fun of herself for being a sex symbol, but that's all she did. None of her skit characters were written to be funny, so she didn't have a chance...

Funny rumor going around: Megan Fox's "Transformers" role is so unimportant, they have already recast it ... with a Victoria's Secret model!

You stay classy, Michael Bay!

You have the right to defend Megan. That doesn't bother me. Everybody is entitled to their opinion.

I can honestly say I am not impressed with her acting. There is nothing special about it. Nothing she has done so far stands out. She is bland and not convincing.  She doesn't do much other than show off her body. I am not interested in her arse or legs. I want to see talent. So far she hasn't shown much potential as an actress.  For me, Fox is just a pretty face movie star who only gets on screen for her body. As BurnHollywoodBurn said, she should be in porn movies.  I don't take her seriously as an actress. I don't mean to knock the woman but it is obvious that she is not Carey Mulligan or Nicole Kidman.

I have seen a photo of Fox's replacement in the next 'Transformers' movie in a British newspaper. She is in a bikini. Like Fox, she is the kind of girl you would see in a porn magazine. I agree with one poster who says they are hired for their good looks not for the 'talent' they might have.

Yes, SandieB, we are entitled to our opinions, and it seems yours are exactly the same as everyone's else when it comes to Megan and her lack of talent.

Why can't you understand what I'm trying to say?I don't consider her a good actress.I just think is unfair for you all to treat her like the worst actress ever after only 3 movies(we're not counting her minor roles, right?).
