What are you doing? Don't you think there will be an official forum for this? Also, there's already an early discussion forum.

JoeBacon, why would you try and start a member-started forum for this SOLELY to ask about Shemp Howard?

Will all of you STOP getting ahead of us and posting forums that HeadRAZZ should be posting weeks/months from now?

HeadRAZZ, if you see these forums, please see to it this and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island get official forums, with your take and all, provided the reviews will be as negative as we think they'll be?

Probably an easy question to answer: This movie is NOT a biopic, but rather an effort to recreate the comic stylings of the Stooges (why anyone would want to do that is a significantly more relevant question). Larry, Curly and Moe are the trio that come to mind for most people when the Stooges are mentioned, and the team was already in serious decline when Shemp joined them (after the passing of Curly).

Considering how sad the Three Stoogess off-screen story was, a biopic would probably be a a better and more interesting movie.

I agree 100% and I've suggested that as well. I think a biopic of the Stooges would be fascinating -- and I'm decidedly not a Stooges fan. But the story of the last decade or so of their career (in particular) would be very interesting.

There already is a Stooges "biopic" (it's only a TV Movie mind you). But it's also about their lives as a whole. Here's the IMDb LINK for details...

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: Although the artwork on the IMDb listing suggests this stars the real Stooges, this was made as a network TV movie, debuted in April of 2000...and was executive produced by...Mel Gibson(!).

Technically, Shemp  rejoined them.

Yes...I saw it.  Frankly, it was painfully superficial and contained so many historical inaccuracies that one wonders if the writers didn't simply abandon all efforts at research in favor of the time honored substitute of making sh*t up. In fact, this film launched Mel Gibson on a whole series of movies that bend history to state the matter charitably. When that didn't really work out, he went off and played with a beaver puppet.

Mel Gibson is actually a really big fan of the Stooges -- despite the fact that more than one of them was...Jewish!
