I just saw The Teaser Trailer for "Get Smart," starring STEVE CARELL as Maxwell Smart. Looks like it might be kind of funny... Here's a LINK to  view the promo.

Response from Head RAZZberry: As a professional trailer-maker, I think I should point out that this promo is what is called a "special shoot," meaning the material in it was shot especially for promotional purposes, and will not necessarily appear in the final film. The casting of Carrel in the Smart role does seem inspired, but the last time they made a feature film out of this material (1980's THE NUDE BOMB) it was a Worst Picture nominee at the First Annual RAZZIES...

I loved Get Smart.  I saw the promo, and at times, I laughed like I used to watching that early TV series both as a kid and as a teenager.  At other times, I kept feeling like I was watching Steve Martin botch Inspector Clouseau.  If what I saw plays out through the whole film, I will leave loving much of the comedy, yet wishing that they could have tightened it up.

OK I saw "Evan" at a drive in last weekend, and it wasn't funny!!! The only funny part was the movie theater marquee that read "The 40 Year-Old Virgin Mary" and anything that came out of Wanda Sykes' mouth. I think a Worst Supporting Actress nomination should go to Lauren Graham for BECAUSE I SAID SO and EVAN ALMIGHTY.

Anyone else with me?

She'll probably be on the Nominating Ballot, but I don't know if she'll make the Top 5. It's probably because there are other actresses in supporting roles that sucked as well, like Mandy Moore and Jessica Alba. Alba should be on the ballot for just FANTASTIC 4: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER for now, and Mandy Moore should also be on the ballot for both BECAUSE I SAID SO and LICENSE TO WED.

Neither Mandy Moore nor Lauren Graham deserve to be on the Razzie Nominating Ballot. Moore was the best part of both of her bad films, and Graham was fine...nothing special, nothing terrible.

In fact, "Evan Almighty" doesn't deserve to be up for any Razzies. It was a decent comedy.

Response from Head RAZZberry: In addition to audience response and critical reaction (where ALMIGHTY got mightily snubbed on both counts)  one of the other basic criteria for RAZZIE consideration is financial -- What Did it Cost, and How Much Was Lost? On that score, as the likely Berry Biggest Money-Loser of 2007, EVAN at least deserves some consideration...

A Sure Bet For A "WORST SEQUEL OR PREQUEL" Nomination. It's Definitely One Of The Worst Comedies Ever!!!

This just in: After Thursday's results, EVAN ALMIGHTY is right now sitting at $97.0 Million at the U.S. Box Office. And still, the numbers are going be low for sure.

Steve Carrell seems like he's going to be under "Razzie" consideration this year. He has "Evan Almighty," and then that terrible looking "Get Smart".

As of Thursday's results, Evan is standing at $98.6 Million at the U.S. Box Office. Still, those numbers are going to be short for sure.

This film was playing at a hotel. You could order for about the same cost as two people could go to the movies. Also, available were "Knocked Up", "Live Free Or Die Hard", and "Ocean's Thirteen". We watched "Live Free".

This just crossed the $100,000,000 mark like a half-dead horse. Are they gonna shoot it now?

Evan Almighty is still not anywhere close to making money, even when counting foreign receipts.

So we now wonder how big a hole this puts Universal in, whether this will force them to scale back on other productions to avoid finding things even redder (I'd call it a wake-up call, but only a complete fiscal collapse is going to bring that about, and not as long as they've got a big conglomerate like Vivendi or Segrams or whoever's actually owning them now pumping the greenbacks in.

I've seen Evan Almighty after persistant nagging by my sister and I can safely say this. Steve Carell does not deserve to Razzie. Most of the acting is quite good with the additions of Morgan Freeman & Jonah Hill.

Its just the script that lets the film down and this can be seen with most of the acting. Steve Carell and Morgan Freeman appear most times to be beating a dead horse along to the finishline. The film does have its moments and this is probably due to the multimillion dollar special effects.

C+

Up next for Steve Carrell is DAN IN REAL LIFE. This does looks like a good movie, but we'll have to see for sure.
