Here is my review of the film if anyone cares: When an experimental space voyage goes awry, four people are changed by cosmic rays. Reed Richards, inventor and leader of the group gains the ability to stretch his body, and takes the name, Mr. Fantastic. His girlfriend, Sue Storm, gains the ability to turn invisible and create force fields, calling herself the Invisible Woman. Her younger brother Johnny Storm gains the ability to control fire, including covering his own body with flame, becoming the Human Torch. Pilot Ben Grimm is turned into a super-strong rock creature calling himself Thing. Together, they use their unique powers to explore the strange aspects of the world, and to foil the evil plans of Doctor Doom. What I didn't like from the theatrical cut of the film was that the pacing was way too fast, which didn't leave any room for character developement and other important element. Now that TWENTY MINUTES are added back in this extended cut, this film was a LOT better. I'm pretty surprised my rating has gone up from 6/10 to 9/10! I love that this version has more character developement and emotion to enhance the film when it was totally panned by critics. Who knows. If this cut was released, it might have made better reviews. I'm also surprised there weren't that many action scenes, although I really did not mind it. The CGI effects are really great in the film, as well as the action scenes. There are some funny bits here and there, mainly from the character, Johnny Storm. It's just your average entertaining family movie! I liked the acting by the main four heroes, including Jessica Alba (I don't know why people hated her in this movie). I also find it quite refreshing from Chris Evans' acting. His character doesn't act serious, like many superhero does. Do not compare this from Batman Begins or Spider-Man. I might include this in the "best superhero movies ever made" list because it's just good with its characters as with its story. This is Fantastic 4 everyone! Watch it now (the extended cut)! |

I do agree that the extended cut did improve the quality of the movie. The extra 20 minutes that was put back in there mainly focused on the character development of each of the movies featured characters (especially the Thing and Human Torch) that gave them more depth and human feeling that you could relate too. As moviewizguy stated this is by no means a Batman Begins or Spider-man, however if they had shown this in theatres instead of the "Wham, bam, thank you Ma'am" version that was released 2 years ago, they would have probably been a little nicer at Rotten Tomatoes. |
