This actually showed up on TCM a couple of weeks ago. The Little Rascals weren't exactly a shining pillar of progressive racial relations, but this movie could have set the Civil Rights movement back decades. In fact, it probably did. Maybe someone can explain to me why Buckwheat was fighting for the Confederacy?  OOOO TAY!

Perhaps I can say one positive thing about the Little Rascals/Our Gang license...my mother made a brief appearance in one of the shorts.

Another interesting note of trivia...Carl "Alfafa" Switzer made an uncredited appearance as a slave in The Ten Commandments. He actually had a lengthy list of uncredited film appearances, including one in It's A Wonderful Life. He was one of the guys that threw the switch on the swimming pool floor.
Nine times out of ten, in art as in life, there is no truth to be discovered, only an error to be exposed.--H.L. Menken
