Lindsay Lohan was supposedly shocked when she read the bad reviews for LIZ & DICK. She said that she's used to bad comments about her life, but not her work. Is it possible that she doesn't know she's "won" 3 Razzies?

By the way, L&D couldn't have been that bad, because Lohan and Tyra Banks have been hired to do a sequel to their 2000 TV movie LIFE-SIZE (in which Lohan asks for her doll to come to life and it turns into Banks). Now I see why they say Barbie is a bad role model!

The nominees for the Independent Spirit Awards have been announced. As usual, they're mostly well-reviewed films that didn't gross a lot of money. However, SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK (up for 5 including Best Feature) is still in theaters, so it's not too late to see it. Other nominees include MOONRISE KINGDOM*, BERNIE, MAGIC MIKE, THE SESSIONS, 7 PSYCHOPATHS, MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, END OF WATCH, SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD, THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, ROBOT & FRANK, CELESTE & JESSE FOREVER, RUBY SPARKS and KEEP THE LIGHTS ON.

*This is the only one I've seen, and I didn't even like it that much. How about you? How many of these have you seen?

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: For those interested, here's a LINK to the Official Website of the organization that puts on the Spirit Awards, so you can see the complete list of this year's nominees. The link will take you to the page for Best Feature, and you can then scroll thru the other categories by clicking on the pink, left-side banner reading NOMINEES...

Moonrise Kingdom and 7 Psychopaths are two of my favorite movies of the year, End Of Watch was really good, and Bernie was decent. Haven't seen the other Spirit nominees...

Trailers for Dark Skies (from the director of Legion and Priest WITHOUT Paul Bettany this time) and Snitch (Starring The Rock).

Also, there is news that Paranormal Activity 5 and a latino "spin-off" are both being released next year. Sure seems like Razzie gold to me.

Elizabeth Hartman and Judith Barsi are much more talented and beautiful than Scarlett Johansson and Chloe Grace Moretz. Fact.

I'm afraid neither trailer held my attention:

1) I'm already predicting DARK SKIES will have a ridiculous twist ending.

2) People have been begging Dwayne Johnson to return to action movies, but with this and FASTER, it seems like he's only choosing generic scripts these days.

Check out this list of the least anticipated movies of December. How many of them sound like possible Razzie contenders?

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: I had already singled out GUILT TRIP (IMDb LINK) as potentially being "one of ours," and from seeing countless TV ads hyping it over the last few daze, I gotta say Tom Cruise starring in JACK REACHER (IMDb LINK) looks like it could be Hollywood's Big Christmas Gift to our Voting Members...

Razzie contenders JOHN CARTER and SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN have made the short list for the Oscar for Best Visual Effects (link).

Except for The Hobbit (which isn't out yet) I've seen all the films on the Best Visual Effects shortlist.

And do you think they all deserve a nomination and/or an Oscar?

I'd say The Amazing Spiderman, The Dark Knight Rises, Marvel's The Avengers, Prometheus, and either Skyfall or The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey should be the finalists for Best Visual Effects. Life of Pi looks as good as I expected, but I can't decide between Skyfall and Unexpected.

The Independent Spirit Awards rarely factor into my lists of the 40 best films of the year, but I hope a lot of Independent Spirit finalists can also get nominations in other award ceremonies. Particularly Moonrise Kingdom, Safety Not Guaranteed, and Magic Mike, and End of Watch.

To Vits: How can Snow White and the Huntsman be considered an official RAZZIE contender if it doesn't even have a subforum at the RAZZIES?
RAZZIE Dirty Dozen: Battlefield Earth, F G Fingered, Pluto Nash, A Sound of Thunder, Alone in the Dark, Dirty Love, Rise Silver Srfr, Daddy Day Camp, IKWKM, The Love Guru, All About Steve, Airbender

"Contender" means "under consideration". A lot of people have posted that they want Kristen Stewart to be nominated as Worst Actress for SW&TH along with BREAKING DAWN PART 2.

I can't raise any opposition to the Academy's shortlist for Best Visual Effects. The ones I want to see nominated most are: The Avengers, Cloud Atlas, Dark Knight Rises, and Life Of Pi.

After the fiasco last year when I nominated REAL STEEL for the Vits Award for Worst Movie Effects, and then it was nominated for an Oscar, I realized that I don't know anything about the subject. So I can't say which movies deserve it this year. So I eliminated that category from my ballots, along with the editing categories. I'll just keep technical things that are subjective.

I chose the term "unremarkable" carefully. Lincoln certainly isn't a bad movie by any stretch of the imagination. I even recommend it. However: Upon leaving the theater, I didn't hear a single person raving about what a wonderful movie experience it was. I barely heard anyone saying anything about it at all. It isn't a movie that very many people are going to go out and buy after seeing it in the theater to watch over and over. It is simply one of those movies that you watch once, and then move on. I think most of the critics would probably agree with me on this point. They recommend it as worth seeing, but I don't think anyone is all that wildly enthusiastic about it.
