New releases here: ALBERT NOBBS, MIGUEL SAN MIGUEL (the real story of 3 teens who were imprisoned during the '80s dictatorship, and who went on to become Los Prisioneros, considered one of our best rock bands) and FINDING NEMO in 3D. Oh, and also BREAKING DAWN PART 2. What should I do?

Vits, normally I'd say "I'd watch the one surrounded by the biggest buzz so I can participate in the talk about it". This time I really have no desire to watch it, and the average reviews make me not want to watch it at all. But it may have to be done at some point, especially if the reviews get worse and there is a chance to shower it with Razzies!

We might have a new Worst Actress nominee next year. Who, you may ask?
Well, she was an Academy Award nominee last year... Aw heck, I'll just post the videos: |

Aww heck! If The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 is to beat both Battleship and A Thousand Words to win Worst Picture, I'll just say it was a matter of principle. Twilight is not like The Lord of The Rings, Harry Potter, or other fantasy/supernatural series of books; Even the critics who liked Twilight 5 acknowledge that if you never have been a Twilight fan by now, in all likelihood you never will be. Its staying power is THAT bad!
I take it that next week we have another "Dawn" film as the Worst New Film: Red Dawn [remake]?
Uggh! I just can't WAIT to be rid of 2012. With such a short RAZZberry harvest this year, and with 2013 showing so much promise for a really juicy harvest, I'll be glad to be rid of this year!

GTA: I was thinking about RED DAWN, too. But I don't think it should be chosen. You see, there's always complaints about unnecessary remakes, but those are mainly because the original movies were actually good. Someone once said that remakes should be reserved for bad movies that need improvement. Well, the original RED DAWN is literally one of the worst I've ever seen, and I know a lot of you agree (I'm surprised it didn't get any Razzie nominations), so maybe this remake will be good.
I'm confused. You haven't liked this year so far because there weren't enough bad movies? And you're looking forward to next year because it will have more bad movies?

To Vits: I don't know how I could've gotten the message to you a long time ago, but I like a good RAZZIE harvest. 2012's crop is insipid. 3 weekends each of May and July had no contenders, half of the films we thought would be ours got exonerated, and the current front-runner for Worst Picture, Breaking Dawn Part 2, only has mixed reviews. 2013 looks like a far juicier year for Our awards, right up there with 2006 and 2008. I know that 2012 had a lot of critical darlings, but so did 2007, 2009, and 2011, and they were much richer veins for the RAZZIES than 2002 and 2012. So just because there's either a lot of good or a lot of bad films in one year doesn't necessarily imply that the converse can't also be true.
And if you think Red Dawn [remake] will be exonerated, I'd advise you to check the Tomatometer. It's already losing 3 to 8. As for Metacritic, they've counted 3 reviews so far. The latest is deeply negative (12%). Even if the original sucked so badly that you think the remake can't go wrong, I've already seen enough to suggest it probably will.
And to anyone who knows Trey Parker and Matt Stone: They must be the only famous people who actually liked the original Red Dawn from 1984. It inspired Episode 710, Grey Dawn.

As GTA said, the videos can't be seen. Anyway, I opened them, and I had already seen the first. I thought that the story is too thin for a feature film, but since it has the director and one of the stars of HORRIBLE BOSSES, it may be good. As for Melissa McCarthy, I love her as much as anyone else. I'll look forward to every comedy she's in... until I dislike one, of course!
I got that. It's just that it sounded like if there are no enough bad movies in a year you'll be dissapointed, as if you didn't care about the good movies.
True. I just hope they do keep remaking bad movies... into good movies.
When someone makes a parody it can be either of something they liked or disliked enough to remember the details. In this case, I'm pretty sure they disliked it. They're extremely liberal, and RED DAWN is pure republican propaganda. Well, maybe they consider it a guilty pleasure, but that doesn't mean they actually liked it. |

Found these by accident: trailers for The Canyons, that movie with Lindsay Lohan, Gus Van Sant,
and porn star James Deen, directed by Paul Schrader and written by Bret Easton Ellis.
For somereason, they have I guess "meta-marketing", because one trailer presents itself as something out of the 1970s, and then another trailer presents itself as a 1950s feature.
It has potential of being very bad.

Based on that trailer for The Heat, 2009 Razzie Winner Sandra Bollocks is a more likely Worst Actress contender than Melissa McCarthy...

Went to see Lincoln today. I withdraw my reservations about the casting of Daniel Day-Lewis. His performance was quite credible. However, the overwhelmingly positive critical response to this film notwithstanding. I was less than blown away. It's a good movie, but there is absolutely nothing about it that would inspire me to sit through it again. If Spielberg is hoping for another Oscar, I think this isn't going to bring it to him.
P.S. Imagine my disappointment...Ole' Abe didn't kill a single vampire in the entire two-and-a-half hours of this film!
