I said it before and I say it again:Split it into 2 categories again and let it like that for good.Or if you guys want,it can be split into 4.
4 is a bit too much. 2 catagories is fine. One for Worst Sequel, etc. and one for Most Unwanted/Uncalled for Sequel, etc. Although as of right now, "Scream 4" would win both!
Remember, there's still Transformers.

How could we forget "Twi-plight," Miguel, when you won't let us!

I think the least anticapated sequel this year  is probably Spy Kids 4.

Miguel, what happened? I thought you were promised to not talk about Twilight till the next film came out? Wasn't that something you recently posted?

I think we could split Worst Sequel, etc. into "Worst Sequel With a 2 or 3 in the Title" and "Worst Sequel With a 4 or 5 in the Title"! There has to be a way to Razz these movie series that are going into uncalled for 4th and 5th installments!

Micheals, that sounds a little bit far fetched. The logical thing to do seems expanding the number of nominees in the Worst Sequel, Prequel, Remake & Rip-off-category (in a way that reflects the flood of sequels coming out this year).

I agree Vheid. That seems like the easiest thing to do. I just want to point out that there is a HUGE difference between sequels that are actually completing a story (as in Harry Potter and Twilight) than those concocted to just make money (as in Pirates of the Caribbean, Scream, Transformers, Spy kids etc.) Surely they are a hell of a lot worse.

So...should there be a category for remakes and sequels, and another for book adaptations?

No, he's saying we should just have a 10 movie slots for Worst Sequel since there's so many of them this year. Although I do like the idea of "Worst Sequel That Is Part Of The Story" and "Worst Sequel That Is Just A Cash Grab."

There are 2 big problems with that idea:

1)Can we really know the makers's intentions? Not 100%! And if we create an award like that, I think we have to be sure.

2)If there's gonna be an award with 10 nominees, it ought to be Worst Picture, as a counterpoint to the Oscars.

As far as I'm concerned, once you get to the 4th or 5th installment of a movie series, you're not doing it because there's still a good story to be told -- you're doing it because you want to milk the franchise for all it's worth...

For what its worth, I think having loads of nominees for worst sequel is excessive. Why not just expand the Worst Picture category so that it could accommodate sequels as well as stand-alone movies?  But it really doesn't matter all that much to me, so I'll leave it to you all to decide.

What I meant with my "continuing story" thing was that I welcome sequels that continue the story of unfinished projects, especially if they have been adapted from books. There is absolutely nothing worse than leaving a story unfinished in my opinion.

She's right. One way or another, stories must be finished. And expanding to 10 nominees for Worst Picture to have more remakes and sequel seems like a good idea. The Oscars did it to have more commercial movies. And the Emmys and People's Choice Awards did it...well, to copy the Oscars.

Yeah. One of the main points of a good story is to tell about the characters' life-altering events. Good movies (and good stories overall) tend to have three parts: the introduction (to the main characters and main problems), the quest (hero searching for a way to solve the problem and coming close to failure), and closure (in which the hero's quest is either a success or failure). Movie trilogies also follow this format, the first movie being an introduction, the second be about the quest, and the third being about closure.

However, once the story is finished, perhaps in the third movie, what is the point of a fourth movie? To re-introduce the characters whose lives have already been changed by the first three movies? To make them take part in more life-changing events? I don't think so -- It's just Hollywood wanting to make still more money from their past successes.

I think GTAhater's Category idea about Nick Cage makes sense. It would be a logical follow-up,  If 2010 was the year for 3-D, it seems 2011 is the year for Nicolas Cage...

There's been a lot of bad "chick flicks" released, and many crappy-looking ones loom on the horizon. So maybe the special category should be Worst Excuse For Women's Entertainment. So far in 2011, there's been: No Strings Attached, From Prada To Nada, The Roommate, Beastly, and Red Riding Hood. Water For Elephants, Something Borrowed, and, to appease Miguel, Breaking Dawn are on the horizon. That's eight, and others will probably spring up as the year goes.

And, oh yeah -- I forgot New Year's Eve. It stars Razzie "winners" Assface Kutcher, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sienna Miller, and several other people that need a Razzing (like Zac Efron, Ice Cube, and, most deserving, Katherine Heigl). It should probably be a contender, even if my category idea isn't picked up.

Ah, good idea -- very good. And a great follow-up category to "Sex And The City 2" from last year, because that movie was horrendous.
