True, it looks like they previewed it at the last minute (to avoid bad publicity?). But going by RT's Tomato meter, it is only rating 20% approval at this point. They'd probably have been better off without the critic's screenings!

At least Daniel Craig can excuse himself for this by saying finished this before getting the job as Bond in Casino Royale.

I doubt this will pick-up any Razzie Nods next year. The worst that may happen is, it will get put on our preliminary Nominee Ballots for Worst Remake. There is just so much worse garbage out there for this year than this! From what I understand, is the worst thing this movie will do is put you to sleep!

Response from Head RAZZberry: Actually, in addition to a possible slot on our Nominating Ballot as Worst Remake or Rip-Off, INVASION also looks likely to make the preliminary lists for Worst Director (Oliver Hirschbiegel, with an Un-Asked-for Assist from The Warchowski Brothers) and possibly former Oscar winner (and former Scientologist?) Nicole Kidman as Worst Actress...

I have a feeling Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig will be nominated for WORST ON-SCREEN COUPLE for "The Invasion" and "The Golden Compass". I saw "The Invasion" the day it came out and there was nobody in the theater. The people who were there walked out during the film. It was boring and forgettable.

It was boring and forgettable but is it actually worth calling a boring film the worst film ever?

With all due respect, after reading through every post on this thread, not one person has suggested that this is "the worst film ever." At worst, there have been some suggestions for possible Razzie nominations this year. The two suggestions are very different.

Agreed, as usual I think moviewizguy takes what we said to much to heart, I would suggest that moviewizguy re-read my last post concerning this thread. Like I said the worst thing this movie along with Evening will most likely due is make me slobber all over myself from putting me to sleep (Not a pretty picture by the way). This movie just barely skims the top of the most prestiges honor of worst movie ever, Like I said before there is so much worse out there (Daddy Day Camp, Bratz anyone?). But I am sure our esteemed Razzie colleague will find saving graces with those 2 as well.

Note to HeadRAZZBerry: Suggestion for a new Razzie category, "Worst Picture that will most likely put you to Sleep"

Yeah, Larry did some of his own "Matrix Re-loaded" and is is now Lana Wachowski. I guess now will call them the Wachowski siblings (I guess?).

It was actually a story by Robert.A Heinlein that put pods on the backs of people which gave rise to the term "Pod People".  In Heinlein's book,  the invasion resulted in civil war, pitting the hero as the good guy and the aliens as the bad guys.  The book was a metaphor for the  conservative John Birch Society's fifth column scenario: infiltration by communists resisted by American patriots.
Robert Heinlein was a well know conservative, libertarian and friend to Barry Goldwater and a staunch anti-communist.

The aliens attached themselves to humans and were thus easily spotted,  and the victims soon wore out and died of starvation or thirst.  Later, the aliens began to take better care of their victims, but the patriots soon had the upper hand.
This would have made a pretty good movie.

The Body Snatchers, on the other hand,  was a horror story, with zombies and gremlins everywhere.  It was supposed to be scarier because you couldn't tell who was infected.

Over the years, the plot lines of the two original stories has become tangled and the movies took on political overtones.
That it is being remade again says less about the novelty of the original and more about the lack of creativity in Hollywood.

R.Heinlein would have scoffed at the pseudo realism of Sci-Fi movies being made today.   He would have laughed at the idiots who think computer graphics and explosions make up for bad character development and lousy plot devices.

Hollywood is headed for a record year in ticket sales, but not in attendance.  Most experts agree that once again,  it has been the sequels that have distorted the figures.  Whether the Indies make a big difference this year or not is still in doubt.

I finally bought the 1978 version and I liked it a lot, except for the ending, which was....well, bad.

The 1978 ending was a 1,000 times better than everything that happened in this one.

So I finally watched it. Like the remake (2007) better than the 1978 version. I guess you could've seen this coming miles away. I liked it because it was faster paced....and it wasn't slow and quiet like the 1978 version. WATCH IT YOU GUYS! AWESOME MOVIE!

This better get a RAZZing. The 78' one was WAY better than this one. But, neither can compare to the original 50s' version. Well, the 78' version could.

Well, I like the 2007 remake better, because it doesn't waste its time trying to explain the infection and where it came from and blah blah blah (which filled about an hour of the 1978 version). The 2007 remake actually assumes we've already seen at least one version of the movie, and know what we're getting ourselves into. I like that...
