I'm back!  It's summertime (even though summer doesn't technically begin until June 21), and Razzie prospects are starting to come at us thick and fast.  After "After Earth," there's "The Purge," "This is the End," "World War Z," "White House Down," "The Heat," "The Lone Ranger," and the worst of them all, "Grown Ups 2."  Once all of these films are released, I will give you guys an early look at my field for the Methane Movie Awards so you can help me cut it down.

Users at IMDb thought it was going to be Lindsay Lohan. That wouldn't have surprised me. That it's going to be Eric Roberts surprises me a little.

Why the heck is Eric Roberts doing this?! Julia and Emma oughta slap the **** out of him for even considering it! I know he's not at the greatest of career points right now, but how the hey is this going to make it better?! Tom Six himself said that this is going to be the grossest of the films, and Mr. Roberts thought that this is what his career needed?!

Well, hey. At least for those who wanted him to get a Razzie nomination, it's probably going to happen now.

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: As someone who never cared for THE FLINTSTONES in any of its many previous incarnations (to me it was always just a Stone Age rip-off of Jackie Gleason's THE HONEYMOONERS, which I also didn't like) I was pleased to see that the WWE-Produced 2015 animated remake Oiram linked to above will be released Direct-to-Video...meaning that neither I (nor any other Voting RAZZIE® Member) need feel obligated to bother seeing it.

Yabba Dabba...PHEW!

I know this is kind of off topic, but I have yet to see why a show like "The HoneyMooners" was considered such a classic, and is a show people remember fondly. Granted, the show was "before my time," but being the curious person I am, I decided to watch a few episodes on YouTube. Um yeah, the show is pretty obnoxious at times. A lot of the time, Jackie Gleason's character does nothing but say he wants to punch his wife in the face.

So what was the appeal of this show?

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: I know plenty of people who liked THE HONEYMOONERS, including my own Dad and one of my best friends. But the "why" has always escaped me.

One of my "rules of thumb" for what I'm willing to watch (other than what I'm obligated to see as Head RAZZberry) is whether or not the characters are people I would ever invite into my own home in real life. And honestly, Ralph Cramden, Ed Norton, Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble are not people I would ever bother to befriend off-screen -- They strike me as loud-mouthed, crude, common and uncouth -- So why would I waste my time with them as fictional characters? In fact, if a real life neighbor of mine kept yelling "To the moon, Alice!" at his wife, I'd probably call the cops on him for spousal abuse...

What I think HeadRAZZ meant was that the characters in The Flintstones and The Honeymooners are supposed to be likable and friendship material, but, to him, they're not. Travis Bickle, Jake La Mota, and Vincent Vega are intentionally unlikable and definitely not people you'd want as friends.

To Oiram: No Worst Acting ballot can be complete WITHOUT the inclusion of Charlie Sheen (or is that Carlos Estevez now?) as Worst Actor for his role of the title character in A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan III; also, Kate ("weak link") Hudson needs to be in the Supporting Actress category for her "role" in The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Also, some of those you  listed in lead categories should be in Supporting instead -- like Will Smith in After Earf (word has it that his part is a supporting one, and he has much less screen time than his son Jaden)...

FYC: WORST Acting Performances of 2013 BY FAR- RZA in GI Joe 2 & Jackie Weaver in Parkland (tie)!

ANOTHER FUN UPDATE from Head RAZZberry: Today's L.A. Times has turned out to be a Treasure Trove of RAZZIE®-Related Tidbits. Just below the front page of Calendar article slamming AFTER EARTH (LINK) there's a TV review of the first co-production between Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network and RAZZIE® Fave-Rave-of-the-Moment Tyler Perry -- A misbegotten melodramatic mish-mash entitled THE HAVES AND THE HAVE NOTS. The review is a real pip of a rip: So nasty it almost makes you want to watch Perry's Sloppy Soap Opera just to see if it's as bad as Mary McNamara says it is.

Here's the LINK to read the review, which came dangerously close to getting me to re-consider my long-held insistence that I would never consider doing RAZZIES® for TV...
