I'm positive that HeadRAZZ will choose current nominee ALEX CROSS as the Worst New Movie On DVD. I'd like to mention that SO UNDERCOVER starring Miley Cyrus (as well as Jeremy Piven) is also available, and its reviews are even worse than L.O.L.'s. That makes sense, because at least with that one, it was clear who the target audience was meant to be.

You know, you're very lucky. The Super Bowl does air here (a country who's against American Football because we consider Soccer to be the real one), but not the famous commercials. So nobody watches the live broadcast. Sure, they're available online, but it's not the same.

By the way, I have a poll for you Americans. Whether it's based on the facts you know or your own personal taste, which network do you think is the best? And which one do you think is the worst? NBC? CBS? ABC? Or perhaps FOX or The CW?

Sorry for the lack of activity lately, I've been busy with classes. They've been going well, especially Paleontology and The Films Of Alfred Hitchcock.
 
I'm not sure if anyone else knows about this, but The Oogieloves comes to DVD tomorrow. A few weeks ago, I was at a RedBox and I looked up what movies are coming soon -- one of them was The Oogieloves.
 
P.S. My Howard The Duck/Under The Cherry Moon review is coming soon.  


RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: RedBox may say that Worst Picture nominee OOGIELOVES is coming to DVD tomorrow / Tuesday, February 5 -- but no source I could find (and I tried CD Universe, Amazon and JoeBlo.com, all of which are usually spot-on reliable sources for such info) had the film w/even an announced release date yet...

Aside from the new trilogy, they're planning on making STAR WARS movie spin-offs. Seriously? Nobody needed to know what The Force actually was, why do we need to know where YODA comes from? Or what he was doing between EPISODE III & IV?

Identity Thief has a lowly 40% at Rotten Tomatoes...not a good start.  


RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: Not sure when IT ever got that low, but right now (just after 5:30pm/PST on Wednesday, February 6) it's at 56% (LINK)  -- Not great, but not exactly an obvious RAZZIE® Target...

Well at the time I wrote the earlier post, Identity Thief was at 40%, and I just have a bad feeling about it. Not a whole lot of reviews yet, but I will be shocked if Craig Mazin has gotten better as a writer.  

Looking at R.T. Rating right now, it's a split vote -- five positive/five negative...

There's a movie with even worse reviews: A GLIMPSE INSIDE THE MIND OF CHARLES SAWN III, starring laughing-stock Charlie Sheen (who's also going to be in SCARY MOVIE PART 5), Razzie nominee Patricia Arquette, almost Razzie nominee Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and, repeat offender Bill Murray. But since it's getting a limited release, IDENTITY THIEF has more priority.

The TV movie LIZ & DICK just premiered here, and I feel like I was lied to. I was expecting Ed Wood level of quality. You know those funny recaps all over the net? They show just a few moments of the movie, and now I know why: there were only few moments like that. I'm not saying that the movie is good. Even by Lifetime standars*, it's boring and not insightful. And the sets look too fake. I'm just saying that it's not jaw-droppingly bad.

I did my best to judge Lindsay Lohan fairly. There are a couple of moments where she's actually conveying emotions. The problem is that it feels like she's playing some character, not Elizabeth Taylor. And as far as the women who look like Taylor, which barely do because no one can look like her, I think that Lohan does resemble her enough. The rest of the time, it feels like it's her first time acting. And since I know how long she's been acting... Grant Bowler is also uneven, but a little better than Lohan.

I think that the director deserves most of the blame. I know not every director can be worthy of an Oscar, specially one that (probably) has to work in TV movies. But if you're someone who's offered to work in a big project like this, you have to do your best. If your main actress throw something without any strenght, you talk to her and do another shot. If the shot still feels rehearsed, change the angle. But letting the final result contain bloopers and trying to pass them off as serious scenes is unprofessional.

I give it a 3/10.

*I gave THE CLIENT LIST a 6/10. Not sure how I feel about the TV series, though.
