The trailer opens with a loud explosion...immediately establshing that this is not your past generations' elegant version of this material.

Give it a chance. I don't think it'll be that crappy a movie. Then again, I've been wrong a couple of times (Superhero Movie, Twilight)

Based on the trailer, it looks more like a remake of "Independence Day" than "The Day The Earth Stood Still". I'm not easily won over until I see what critics and movie goers have to say. This one is up in the air.
