I can't praise Isabelle Fuhrman enough. She did an excellent job! She must have an Oscar nomination for the Best Supporting Actress category. Anyone agree with me?

I wouldn't expect an Academy Award nomination to go to a movie that's disliked by more than half of the critics...

Well, it happened with Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted.

But, to be honest, I'm sure there's little chance, since horror movies rarely get nominated and, add on top of that, she's a child actor. One can only hope.

Her chances of getting an Oscar nod are about the same as Michael Bay getting a Best Director nod for "Trannies 2", NONE.

It's been decades since an actor or actress has gotten a nod for starring in a  supernatural thriller, and that's not going to change anytime soon. We all know the Oscar higher-ups have short  memorie spans, which is way all the Oscar bait comes out on or around Christmas Day (so it's fresh in their memories).

No one is going to remember "Orphan" in five months.

So did a certain director of a certain 1997 Batman movie...and look what it got him!

I was going to say it made Schumacher the laughing stock of all of H-Wood...but herpes works just as well.

Hey guys...if you havent seen the film, why pre-judge it? I have heard good things about "Orphan," and the critics aren't completely trashing it...its probably the best horror film we are getting this year -- so get off it!

It's not so much the film we're judging, but rather MWG trying to sell it as if it's the greatest horror movie since the original 1978 "Halloween."

I'm not really trying to pre-judge it, but apparently the things I guessed about it in the first place have all been right.

dEd, saturnwatcher, Head Razz and I have all explained many times why movies end up in our forums, and the these forum are made for the sole purpose of mocking these movies. We have all watched hundreds, if not thousands of movies in our lifetimes, so I think we can tell a good movie from a bad one. So when someone comes here and blindly defends a bad movie, or one that's just average at best, we are going to seriously question him about his choice of "good" movies.

Granted, we are not perfect in our choices either. Most of the time, we choose movies that do suck, but every now and then, we mess up and pick the wrong movie. Case in point: "Horton Hears A Who" vs. "The Love Guru". "Horton" was chosen as the worst of the weak, but turned out to be pretty good. "Guru" wasn't even in the forum to begin with, but once it was pointed out to Head Razz, not only did it get its own forum, it was voted the Worst Picture of 2008.

It's not that we're judging this movie too harshly, it's just that we don't care for someone whose choices in "good" movies is highly questionable (considering he defends almost every single movie listed in this forum) posting in three different sub-forums about how great he thinks this movie is, and how much the critics love it, and how it's going be a future horror movie classic loved by all movie goers ... even though it's only getting average "it's not great, but it's not unwatchable either" reviews, and only broke even with its budget at the box office.

Why don't you care? Isn't it what forums are for, to express different opinions?

, and how much the critics love it

It's not my fault critics like the movie.

and how it's going be a future horror movie classic loved by all movie goers

I never said such a thing.
