Topic: Possible 2013 Contenders PreviewPosted: August 28 2012 at 7:23am |

I figured since we are more than halfway through the year now, I thought I would post a list of what I consider possible Razzie contenders for next year. There's no guarantee that they all will be released in 2013, and even then, some of them may end up like LOL (and yes, I'm still not over that). However, I feel that it is better to show what the possible films are as of now, so you can keep them in the back of your mind: "Maybe that's a good -- or should I say BAD -- contender."
If you think I missed one, tell me and I may add it. If you think something should be taken out, you need to tell me why, and it has to be a very good reason in order to covince me that it does not deserve Razzie consideration. Enough babbling...Here's my list:
After Earth (Wow Will Smith. What made you think working with Shyamalan is a good idea? How much was that check?) Anchorman: The Legend Continues Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie Battle of the Year: the Dream Team (Co-starring that POS Chris Brown) Beautiful Creatures (With Jeremy Irons) The Canyons (Lindsay Lohan Comeback Attempt Number 1) Diablo Cody Project (Lamb of God) The Drummer (It may not be that bad, but maybe it will) Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father Grown Ups 2 (Fun fact: Rob Schneider is not returning) Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters The Host (With Jeremy Irons son, Max Irons) The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (For SchumacherH8r, whom wishes it could be one) The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence) InAPPropriate Comedy (Lindsay Lohan Comeback Attempt Number 2) The Incredible Burt Wonderstone Machete Kills Again... In Space! Tyler Perry's The Marriage Counselor (Which has an acting appearance by Razzie nominee KIM KARDASHIAN) The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Mr. and Mrs. Jones (This is, in fact, related to Mr. and Mrs. Smith) One Chance (Katy Perry's first live action feature film) Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters Scary Movie 5 (Lindsay Lohan Comeback Attempt Number 3) The Secret Life of Walter Mitty The Starving Games (Another Friedberg and Seltzer film, oh joy The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D 3 Geezers! (Guess what? This is directed by a Schumacher) Three Mississippi (Starring Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler, because EVERYONE wanted to see those two team up, right?) Also, consider this a bonus: Worst Picture: After Earth Worst Actor: Adam Sandler/Grown Ups 2 and Three Mississippi Worst Actress: If all those movies are released, it would be Lindsay Lohan/The Canyons, InAPPropriate Comedy, and Scary Movie 5. If not, Jessica Alba/Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For Worst Supporting Actor: Taylor Lautner/Grown Ups 2 Worst Supporting Actress: Kim Kardashian/Tyler Perry's The Marriage Counselor Worst Screen Couple: Will and Jaden Smith/After Earth Worst Screen Ensemble: The Entire Cast of Grown Ups 2 Worst Prequel or Sequel: Grown Ups 2 Worst Remake or Rip-off: Evil Dead Worst Director: M. Night Shyamalan/After Earth Worst Screenplay: After Earth

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: While the degree of effort put into the above posting/list is admirable, I feel compelled to say I see this as the berry definition of "jumping the gun."
Oiram's choices do seem, for the most part, to have at least some logic to them (although the sheer number of titles listed suggests at least some of them are unlikely to be eventual contenders) but I think we'd be better off focusing on the four months of 2012 releases as yet unseen, rather than concerning ourselves in August of this year with what might be nominated in January of 2014. In other words, thanks for the effort and enthusiasm, however way-too-far-in-advance it may be... |

Why are the sequels to Kick-Ass and Sin City on there? I can see why The Man Of Steel and Anchorman 2 (two movies I myself am looking forward to a lot) -- but those two?

I don't care whether the Nerd gets nominated or not, either way, I'm defending it whether you like it or not.

To SchumacherH8ter: Don't you remember that you said Matthew Vaughn is not working on the film and it is instead helmed by that guy who did Nerver Back Down, not to mention that Mark Millar has a little more control over the script? I thought those might be warning signs for Kick-Ass 2. As for Sin City 2, considering that the last film Frank Miller made was The Spirit, and the last film Robert Rodriguez made was Spy Kids 4, I have this nagging feeling that they were lucky on the first one. Also remember, this is called POSSIBLE 2013 Contenders. There is a chance some of these are not even the least bit Razzie worthy.
I'm surprised you did not take notice that 3 Geezers is directed by a Schumacher To jesse685: It is going to be a long shot, but even though I do like James, his movie may not appeal to the general audience, and trust me when I say Angry Video Game Nerd is not a household name. Again, even if I'm wrong, it is called POSSIBLE 2013 Contenders. Considering the fact that it is an indie film, it might miss the radar completely.

On Kick-Ass 2: my least favorite part of the sequel comic (the gang rape scene) isn't going to be in the movie. This means the reports that Millar would have more control were incorrect.
On Sin City 2: You can't compare the children's films Rodriguez does with the adult films. The last adult film Rodriguez did was Machete which was pretty good aside from Alba and Lohan. As for Miller, Rodriguez reined him in for the first one, and the studio wouldn't give him full control after The Spirit. On 3 Geezers: I can find no link between the Schumachers responsible for this (Michelle and Randle) and my white whale.
