QuoteReplyTopic: Predicting the WORST MOVIE OF THE WEEK!!! Posted: May 31 2011 at 2:34pm
So, I've had the idea of starting a separate forum for our weekly prediction game for some time now, But I never really did anything with it...
Untill now...
I am starting this Forum with GTAhater's recently ignored post (If you don't mind of course GTAhater...)

As for June 10, we have no way of knowing just how bad the Not Bummer Summer will be, but given that JJ Abrams is directing Super 8, I expect that will succeed easily.
X-Men: First Class indeed seems to be not worth the forum...
As for Judy Moody vs. Super 8, I am pretty sure it's going to the one with the longer name... It's from the director of Aliens in the Attic...
Michaels, Early good reviews are always a sign that it has some appeal with critics, I do think it will drop but I highly doubt if it will go below 70%...
On another note (and not really worth a forum here) a new Mandy Moore-movie is getting really harshly judged by critics. link

Well, they could be showing it to the "less critical" critics first, before the Peter Travers of the world see it. But it might pull a "Fast 5" upset and stay above 80%. We'll know soon enough.
"Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie ... but, no, no. John Hughes did not direct my life." ("Easy A", 2010)
X-Men: First Classseems to be little bit of a Box-Office disappointment. I was already kind of wondering how they were planning to sell a movie about the Cuban Missile Crisis to modern-day audiences...
But back to the subject of the forum...
For the weekend of June 10th:
I am assuming that we might expect a forum for Judy Moody considering that she has been mentioned by many times in conversation before and that Super 8 is of to a good start with critics...
We could also compare directors Super 8's J.J. Abrams' last film was the critically loved Star Trek. The last film of Judy Moody-director John Schultz was Aliens in the Attic.... Do I need to say more?
Early predictions for June 17th:
I am predicting that it will probably be Mr. Poppers Penguins which looks like a generic bad family film. I also have a problem with the fact that they named one of these penguins stinky, smelly or something which is the perfect set-up for fart-jokes (why do some people find farts funny?).
I also think that The Art of Getting By needs a mention (but not a forum)... A indie about a couple of teens in love starring the earlier named Emma Roberts and Freddie Highmore (The former childstar who played Charlie in Tim Burton's terrible Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-remake)
The film might however make it onto the ballot (if the HeadRAZZ agrees with our judgement about miss. Roberts)...
Worst Supporting Actress: Emma Roberts//SCREAM 4 & THE ART OF GETTING BY
Oh, and please take this forum seriously because I really like this prediction game and it's one of the few reasons why I keep coming back here...
I think it has more to do with the fact the X-Man series has had two back-to-back disappointments ("The Last Stand" and "Origins: Wolverine"). Movie-goers are getting wise to the whole "milking A movie franchise" deal, so it's hard to REgain their trust. Also, many die-hard comic book fans were pissed off at how most of the X-Men's history was altered for this movie, and IT didn't follow the comic books at all.

Well, there you go! If s Fox does a sixth installment, Wolverine will be in every single scene of the movie, and it will be bloated with CGI. I really wish Fox would just give the X-Men rights to Disney. As much as I hate The Mouse Company, I think they would do better with the series than Fox has done.
The Four Horsemen of the Moviepocalypse: uncalled for sequels/remakes/reboots, 3-D surcharges, untalented "celebrities", and anything with Michael Bay's name attached to it.
Yes... I predicted both Judy Moody and Mr. Poppers Penguins right...
Early predictions for June 24th:
The main reason why Cars 2 exists seems to be a quick cash-grab and how much I disapprove of that I don't think that it will be the worst reviewed movie of the week. Let's face it... Pixar has a very good track record with critics. The film will probably do worse than the first Cars (74% at RT) but it will still do better with critics than most sequels like this would (I am guessing 60-65 at RT)
As for Bad Teacher, I find it a very bad sign that it's written by the screenwriters of Year One. I assume that this is going to be the worst reviewed (The first review on RT is already up, By the way. That's why I post my predictions so early, I like to predict these movies before the reviews are up)
YEAR ONE's main problem wasn't about the script(although it wasn't a masterpiece in literature). The problem was that the cast and crew were never on the same page.Let's keep in mind that the writers are from THE OFFICE!
I think CARS 2 will make history by becoming the one movie nobody really knows if it'll be good or bad. Seriously.
On one hand, it's an un-called for sequel to a movie that wasn't great in the first place and that borrowed story elements. On the other hand, it may improve on the first one.
Next week it's "Cars 2," an uncalled for sequel, versus "Bad Teacher," a direct-to-DVD quality movie that somehow managed to get a theatrical release. I'm going with "Bad Teacher" -- As great as Cameron Diaz's body is, it's not enough to carry an entire movie!
"Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie ... but, no, no. John Hughes did not direct my life." ("Easy A", 2010)
The Art of Getting By is getting some bad reviews, it currently is at 29% on RT. link Could this have something to do with the blandness of both the leading actor and actress?

This week will defiantly be Green Lantern it's current R.T. rating is 20% While Mr Poppers Penguins is surprisingly at 73 %, but who knows the guy did Mean Girls. It could also be a tie with The Art of Getting By. Every time I see Emma now I picture her smashing her head in a mirror and slamming into a table.
As for next week it will be Bad Teacher it's at 70% right now but only has 10 reviews. Pixar can't go wrong Cars 2 will be fresh.
Then the week after that will be tough between Monte Carlo and Transformers 3 ugh.
