IT'S ABOUT BASEBALL, WHICH ONLY MISSES BEING the MOST BORING SPORT in the WORLD BECAUSE GOLF ALSO EXISTS. IT FEATURES SEVERAL HAMMY ACTORS DOING SHRILL and IRKSOME VOICE-OVER WORK. IT HAS THAT SAME CREEPY CGI QUALITY THAT MADE POLAR EXPRESS SO MEMORABLY SKIN-CRAWLY. AND IT PROVIDED YET ANOTHER GOOD ARGUMENT for US to INCUDE  "WORST EXCUSE for FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT" AS a CATEGORY in THE 2006 RAZZIES. IF YOU CAN THINK of ANY OTHER ARGUMENTS AGAINST EVERYONE'S HERO, FEEL FREE to POST 'EM BELOW...

Well, one thing is for sure...It is never a good sign when a movie is not allowed to be pre-screened by critics.

This movie might well blow, but I have to take exception with the remark about the boring nature of baseball. Personally I love to sport, in part because of the dramatic duels it can create, as well as its remarkable ability to generate interesting numbers. Besides, how can anyone rate baseball just above golf for generating ennui when a sport called "soccer" exits?

But just as a quick follow up note, not only has baseball been the subject of some really wonderful movies, but baseball's greatest hero, the immortal Babe Ruth, has retained his god-like status despite two of the most awful movies in history aimed at his legacy.

My Family will end up go seeing it anyways for many reasons...One:  Baseball is our family's favorite sport. Two: It was Christopher Reeve's last directing project (and also his wife Dana Reeve's last acting project). And Three: It has to be better than "The Wild".!!

It does look pretty bad, and no point about anyone seeing it since there have been most people that find the Yankees too overrated. Oh well, no World Series for the Yankees since they got knocked off by the Detroit Tigers. And this year's World Series teams will be determined between the Tigers vs. Athletics, and the Mets vs. now Cardinals. Ok, maybe there are some of ya who are not baseball fans, but just a little note.

Update on MLB playoffs, It's the Tigers vs. the Cardinals in the 2006 World Series, yep, this will be the third straight year that a World Series will not be held in New York. But a little reminder, at least it doesn't look anywhere like ANGELS IN THE OUTFIELD, since it's about the Yankees and not the Angels.

Baseball season's over, and in the World Series, it's the Cardinals over the Tigers 4-1 to win the World Series. Think about that. The Cardinals had the worst record over the other teams in the playoffs 83-78, and they faced the odds to win it all. Looks like they'll make a movie about this in the future.
