A THIRD INSTALLMENT of MAYHEM and GORE from the FOLKS WHO INFLICTED TWO PREVIOUS SAW MOVIES on the WORLD? NOW ALL WE NEED IS for SCTV's COUNT FLOYD (COMPLETE with CAPE and PHONY FANGS) to DECLARE: "OOOH, SCARY!"

"Okay, so, like...maybe my first clue this was no run-of-the-mill dentist's office should've been those chains..."

I love psychological horror movies, and I prefer the "Saw" franchise over "Hostel".
Here's how I would rate the first two: I - Classic II - Meh.

The greatest acting accomplishment in both Saw movies was the fact that Tobin Bell managed to escape with his full dignity (maybe a little more) intact. He's quite good in these movies. The usually good Cary Elwes was a bit of a dissapointment in the first one, as was Danny Glover. Also, I found it funny that Jigsaw in the second one closely resembled Emperor Palpatine from The Star Wars films.

The first one was passably bad (you might rent it and just be annoyed that you paid for it) but the 2nd one was laughable! Besides the death traps, neither movie had much going for it. Too bad, because it's a good idea, and they could have been great pshycological thrillers if done better (in all areas).

Jigsaw is the most innovative and interesting villain since Freddy Krueger. But they seem to be following a pretty stock formula: come up with more gruesome, bloodier ways of killing.

Worst Case Senerio: It's not screening for critics today, but critic's reviews on this film will be coming in next week. So, hold on tight, and the critics will start spanning this film.

I thought a better introduction of this forum should have been...
Where's Kane with a Dental Probe When You Need Him?!?!?
The wrestling fans among us should DEFINITELY remember this disaster...

This sounds like a joke, but I am serious-
I just read on Wikipedia that Uwe Boll is set to direct Saw 4
On IMDb, there is a page for Saw 4, but no dirctor is credited.
I thought Saw 3 was the going to be the end of the franchise anyway.
Response from Head RAZZberry: As someone who was once mis-identified on Wikipedia as a 14th Century Belgian philosopher (in a LINK from their page regarding http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Razzie_Award - The RAZZIES ) I feel compelled to tell you that Wikipedia is not your best source of correct information. As Stephen Colbert might attest, Wikipedia's "truthiness" is second only to trivia notes on The IMDb for being unreliable...
But, hey, if Ol' Boll Eyes does wind up directing SAW 4, it'd be a slam dunk for a Worst Director RAZZIE nomination whatever year it gets released...

The guy who directed Saw 2 and 3 will come back to direct the 4th.
My reactions:
Saw: Classic, one of the best thrillers ever.
Saw II: Turns out to be one of the worst movies ever.
Saw III: Not the best but a lot better than Saw II.

They are now in preparations for a 4th and 5th ones. Oh well, it's genre-required, I guess...

Now that SAW IV is out, we have yet to see Numbers V and VI, which should be next year...or maybe 2009.

The movies suffer a curse I don't know what's called.After 3 movies,the audience knows the pattern,especially that there will be a twist endin'(that's why Shyamalan's 1st. 3 movies THE 6TH. SENSE,UNBREAKABLE and SIGNS were hits,and the 3 last ones THE VILLAGE, http://www.razzies.com/forum/lady-in-the-water_forum129.html - LADY IN THE WATER and http://www.razzies.com/forum/m-night-shyamalans-the-happening_forum284.html - THE HAPENNING weren't).
The movies are the best horror movies,'cuz they're deep, but they focus a lil'too much on the blood, and people don't see what's "inside".
The 3rd. is the last one that's great, and I blame Leigh wannell for not writin'them anymore. The rest are O.K.,but they keep gettin'worse'cuz after JIGSAW dies, his games continue,'cuz we don't know where the saga is goin'.

Saw III, oh Saw III! While it's not as bad as Saw V and on the same level as Saw 3D, it just feels like the worst to me. I think it's because Saw V came after two crappy Saw movies while this one came after two good Saw movies. That being said, I'll try to rate this fairly.
The good:
Shawnee Smith: After her meh performance in the first one and her marginally better performance in the second one, Smith finally gives a decent performance.
The bad:
The script: The writing for this is piss-poor. While there is one good legitimate twist, (the one about Amanda's traps being intentionaly unescapable.) it mostly sloppy.
The traps: The traps in this aren't thought-out-well, mean-spirited at times, and seemed to be designed for grossness instead of terror. In particular...
The pig corpse trap: This scene is WAY to gross! To explain it, a person is trapped at the bottom of a pit and a bunch of maggoty pig corpses are ground up so he'll drown in it. Even worse, the person at the bottom is a judge who doesn't seem to do anything wrong! At least the traps preceding it and succeding it where guilty of something to marginally "justify" their torture!* Sure he gave the killer a light sentence, but the evidence was minimal and that was probably the best they could do. It's like Law Abiding Citizen all over again!
The ugly:
Angus MacFayden: MacFayden plays Jeff who lost his son to a negligent driver. We should feel sorry for him, but he's annoying and poorly-acted. He's, also, a massive prick. He's one of the most annoying horror movie protaginists in a while, comparing to Tommy in Friday The 13th V!
Well, that's Saw III. Man, it was boring. Grade: C
Next-up: Saw IV!
*The girl withheld evidence and the other guy ran over a child.
