"Thr3e" received a very limited platform release in about 400 theaters, but sucked so bad (being a blatant SAW rip-off).
I'm surprised it's not on the list, as it was released earlier this year.
Response from Head RAZZberry: I just added THR3E to the Complete List. Here's a http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1173774-thr3e/ - LINK to check out reviews for it on Rotten Tomatoes -- It's got a minuscule 9% Approval Rating, but only 35 critics filed reviews. Although, under our rules, it does qualify as being RAZZIE eligible, I'm not sure enough people will have will have seen it to make it a contender for 2007...

I found another Razzie movie to add to our list: Nancy Drew. The Trailer looks like Agent Cody Banks meets Clueless meets Harriet the Spy. Here's a http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809417071/trailer - LINK to view the Trailer.

It will be Razzed in time. A Killer Movie Reviews review also has premonitions about this movie.
"Blithely unfettered by internal logic, exhibiting the pacing of a banana slug, and boasting a heroine who makes Betty Crocker seem like a radical feminist, PREMONITION is exactly the reason that the Razzie Awards exist. "

You guys are thinking about nominating an average movie like forum_topics.asp?FID=180 - THE ULTIMATE GIFT from the Fox Faith company, but not forum_topics.asp?FID=180 - THR3E ?? Something’s really messed up.
Even though the movie isn’t included in the lineup of possible nominees, I’m going ahead to campaign and list what awards it should get next year. WORST MOVIE WORST ACTOR - MARC BLUCAS WORST ACTRESS - JUSTINE WADDELL WORST SCREEN COUPLE - MARC BLUCAS AND HIS “ALTER-EGOS” WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR - KEVIN DOWNES (a.k.a. Kirk Cameron’s look-a-like) WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS - LAURA JORDAN WORST REMAKE OR RIP-OFF WORST SCREENPLAY WORST DIRECTOR - ROBBY HENSON
The movie comes out on DVD April 24 by the way, if you guys want to see how extremely bad this movie is, or RIPS its material from.
Response from Head RAZZberry: I did some quick research on THR3E, which was only given limited release the first few weeks of this year. Its total box office, according to http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=thr3e.htm - B.O. MoJo , was just over $1 million, but 51 visitors to that site rated the film a "B." 348 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486028/ - IMDb users , on the other hand, gave it a 5.2 out of 10. Over at RT, http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/thr3e/ - THR3E has an overall 9% Approval rating (with only 35 reviews posted). Bottom Line: THR3E could be a RAZZIE contender, but was not widely enough disdtributed or seen to have come to our Members' attention. Guess we'll have to wait 'till it comes out on video next month and check it out then...

With all due respect, it's only March, and no one is seriously thinking about nominating anything as of this date. Right now, everyone is simply in the discussion phase. At this time last year, the film Benchwarmers was receiving considerable discussion on this site, yet it did not ultimately receive a single Razzie nomination.

Response from Head RAZZberry: Slight correction -- BENCHWARMERS did earn Rob Schneider a Worst Actor nomination (though it was a joint nom for both his baseball bomb and his horrid cameo in LITTLE MAN)...

I was wondering if, like last year when we had The Worst Excuse for Family Entertainment, we might have Worst Excuse For A Thriller and/or Horror Movie as a category for 2007??

I found the First Look Studios Website (they brought us 2005 Razzie "winner" Dirty Love). They're releasing a film called Smiley Face on 4/20/07. It stars Anna Faris (Scary Movie 1, 2, 3 & 4, Lost In Translation) Adam Brody (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Thank You For Smoking) and John Krasinski (The Holiday, Dreamgirls, Jarhead). The Premise is below, as well as a LINK to The Film's Official Site. It sounds like it could be a Rip Off of Half Baked...
"Jane F., an unsuccessful slacker actress, is having a bad day. And it’s getting more outrageous and comically surreal by the minute. Smiley Face is a freewheeling, cinematically stylized After Hours for the new millennium. Jane’s misadventures begin when she treats herself to a batch of cupcakes left unattended by her psycho roommate (Danny Masterson) that prove not as innocent as they appear, Soon, she is trying to cross town so she can repay an unforgiving drug dealer (Adam Brody), attend an audition, and somehow replace the precious cupcakes. Bumming a ride from her roommate’s friend (John Krasinski) - who is totally infatuated with her – she sets out on a long, strange trip. And when the original manuscript of the Communist Manifesto falls into her hands, things really get out of control."

I have a potentially mind-bottling question: will Blades of Glory be added to the Razzie contenders?
I admit that I did enjoy Talladega Nights (and so did the crix), but I am concerned that BoG is another bewitching movie.
...starring Will Ferrell.

Blades of Glory is right now, being liked by critics, sitting at a 63% approval at RT. with 8 reviews counted, with 5 fresh and 3 rotten, but it may end up being a RAZZIE Contender, but ending up being the 2nd Worst New Movie of the Weak. Meet the Robinsons is sitting at a 40% approval from critics with only 5 reviews counted, 2 fresh and 3 rotten, but does not look like a RAZZIE contender. The Lookout is getting an 84% approval from critics, with 25 reviews counted, 21 fresh and 4 rotten. Right now, the Worst New Movie of the Weak is Peaceful Warrior, with only a 21% approval from critics, with 63 reviews counted, 53 rotten and only 10 fresh.

I agree. There's still plenty of time for the worst of the worst to rear their ugly heads. Doesnt Michael Bay have three or four films pending release in 2007?

Not really...but if the possibility for worst new song pops up...the first song in the closing credits should get a nomination...

Hey HeadRazz, with two films coming out this weekend that have both got 0% so far on rotten tomatoes, which will you choose as the worst movie of the week? Are We Done Yet, or The Reaping? On one hand you'd think the latter since you expect far better from a two time Oscar Winner (Hilary Swank) than a star of XXX2 and Anaconda (Mr. Cube). On the other, I find bad comedies to be far more annoying than bad horror films. Decisions, Decisions indeed. I guess we can agree on one thing, Grindhouse will rock. I expect this to be one of the best performances of Kurt Russell's underrated (In my opinion) career.

Hey, speaking of Blonde Ambition, I found some interesting news...
According to NY Daily News, Jessica Simpson's summer film "Blonde Ambition," has been pushed back twice by her manager/dad, because the movie is no good.
"First, the release date was set for August 3rd, and then it was delayed until the last week of August," says an insider. "Papa Joe then intervened and said he wasn't comfortable with the level of competition from other films that month."
Another source says: "Jessica was not very focused on-set and flubbed her lines often. She always had her dog around, was on the phone with [then-] boyfriend John Mayer or was sitting in a warmed-up SUV."
The source said the film, which is still incomplete, is currently without a firm release date.

Here's hoping Jessica Simpson in BLONDE AMBITION (if it ever gets released) may fill the bill. Here's a http://www.moviesonline.ca/TheFeed/index.php?id=blondeambition_trailer - LINK to check out the trailer for it...

Agreed. To date, 2007 has been a year of appalling mediocrity, with very little variance at either end of the bell curve, whether on the outstanding our laughably awful sides (I had to toss that in just in case #1 Sly Fan pops in to read something not directly related to his hero ). Just about all the movies I've seen this year had all the "outstanding " production values I'd expect from some Hallmark Channel original presentation.
It seems like the only really risky and original work in the film industry these days is coming out of the indies, and Lion's Gate is fast becoming the most prolific player in the industry. Shame on the big dogs. Geez guys (i.e the big studios) roll the dice. So what if we end up bagging you? At least somebody will be discussing your work!

Why isn't J.Lo's latest film Bordertown in the list of 2007 releases. I think J.Lo did a great job in that film, but, still heard she fired some crewmembers.
Response from Head RAZZberry: We only list titles once they've actually been released here in New York and/or LA. BORDFERTOWN, which appears to have played in European theatres already (IMDb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0445935/releaseinfo - LINK ) is not set to debut here in the US until August 31. When (and if) it does get released in America, we'll add it to our list...

Since we're past the halfway point of the year, here are the worst movies released in 2007 that I've seen are, ranked from the most rank (on the bottom of the list) on up:
Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer Wild Hogs Premonition Perfect Stranger Transformers Code Name: The Cleaner Blood and Chocolate Funny Money Epic Movie
I would also give a nod to Georgia Rule for being the worst waste of talent on an awful premise that I never will want to see, but may have to, since it's beginning to appear on "worst" lists.

One movie that I think will actually be pretty funny (After watching it's trailer today), is Fred Claus. It's being directed by the guy who did the Wedding Crashers, and it has two of my favorite actors ( Paul Giamatti and Kevin Spacey). This is the first Christmas-themed movie I'm looking forward to in a long time.

The one good thing about my idol Sylvester Stallone not having any movies out this year: You guys can't Razz him (as I know you would no matter what the quality of his film)...
Response from Head RAZZberry: Yo, #1 Sly Fan -- Did you fail to notice that for 2006, we not only didn't nominate Our Awl Time Cahm-Peen Sly for a single RAZZIE for ROCKY BALBOA, but at the beginning of our ceremonies, I publicly acknowledged that he had, for the first time in about a quarter century, made something that actually wasn't eminently RAZZ-able. Just saw Hairspray, and I'm man enough to admit that this was the most fun I've had at the movies since Grindhouse. I just read the item that says Jessica Simpson;s poterntial Razzie contender "Legally Blonde" might be released direct-to-DVD. So does this mean she'd be ineligible for Worst Actress??
Response from Head RAZZberry: If you're talking about the item on the website for US Magazine ( http://www.usmagazine.com/node/10754 - LINK ) the film's production company insists they still intend to release the film in theatres by year's end. Although, given how awful its trailer looks ( http://www.moviesonline.ca/TheFeed/index.php?id=blondeambition_trailer - LINK ) and how many times its supposedly impending release has been "postponed," the likelihood is that it will end up going straight-to-video. In which case, since our "rules" follow those of the AMPAS (a film must be shown theatrically in LA or New York to qualify) technically, Simpson would be exempted from consideration as a RAZZIE contender...

Early reviews for Shoot 'em Up, (Which have all been positive, so far, knock on wood) have praised the performances of Clive Owen and Paul Giamatti. So if Fred Claus is as good as I think it will be, Giamatti (Who's given great performances in Sideways, American Splendor, Cinderella Man, etc.) will have done a heck of a job making up for Lady in the water.

I'm seeing The Bourne Ultimatum tonight. I like the Bourne movies. I like how they always make sure to cast a great actor as the shady executive In the first one it was Chris Cooper, in the second it was Brian Cox, and in this one ( I'm guessing) it's David strathairn, who's been good in everything I've seen him in (Fracture, LA confidential, and especially his oscar nominated performance in Good Night, and Good Luck). The first one also had Clive Owen, who, after watching Closer, The Inside Man, and Children of men, I think is one the best actors of this decade.

So what happens in terms of Jessica Simpson getting a Worst Actress nomination this year if "Blonde Ambition" goes directo-to-DVD??
Response from Head RAZZberry: Our rules, which are based on those of the Academy Awards, clearly state that a film MUST receive a theatrical release in order to be considered eligible for our awards. If Simpson's movie winds up NOT being released in theatres (however terrible it may be) that DOES mean it's not eligible for RAZZIE nominations. But having recently seen Lindsay Lohan in the gut-bustingly funny/bad I KNOW WHO KILLED ME, I'd have to say Lohan should be awfully hard to beat, so this probably wasn't Simpson's year to take Worst Actress anyway...

I just don't see why so many people like these movies. All they are is just Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker making tired and lame racial jokes and doing really unfunny slap-sticky action moves. Oh, they also do a lot of terrible dancing and singing, too. These movies are s-o-o-o-o-o-o over-rated!

Response from Head RAZZberry: If you're asking can I add CHIPMUNKS to the List of Eligible Titles this far ahead of its theatrical release, the answer would have to be "No." The list is up-dated on a weekly basis, and is intended eventually to be used by our Voting Members to assist them in recalling all of a given year's movies. As a policy, I only add films to the list about 5 days prior to their actual release date, since at that point, advertising for the film has begun, theatres are booked and their actually being released is pretty much a given. If you look at what recently happened with both http://www.razzies.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2037&PN=1 - SKINWALKERS (which was delayed a week or two at the last minute) and Jessica Simpson in BLONDE AMBITION (which has had several publicized release dates and has yet to actually play in theatres) you can hopefully understand the policy. According to Box Office MoJo, http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=alvinandthechipmunks.htm - CHIPMUNKS is now set for release on December 14, so look for it to appear on the Eligible Titles List around December 10.
If your question was whether we can add CHIPMUNKS to our Forum discussions now, I may do so this coming week...

I'm very surprised that The Nanny Diaries isn't on here yet. I think I'll catch that picture and post how I feel about it.
I have seen http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0462396/ - The Last Legion . Every scene in that movie could be found in some other movie, and it shows. Colin Firth just doesn't come through. Aishwarya Rai is far more believable when fighting than Keira Knightley was in Pirates 3. I hope Rai continues to grow outside of Bollywood. Ben Kingsley again demonstrates his great talents in a movie that is far beneath him. Most of the Roman soldiers aren't credible, although I liked http://us.imdb.com/name/nm1996829/bio - Nonso Anozie . There are a few groans, especially when Firth's and Rai's characters start hitting on each other and what happens with the sword at the end of the movie. If I had to compare it to anything, I'd say it was a better Eragon, except it had a few groans thrown in. Too much of what we've seen before not done anywhere near as well. I suggest Razzie noms to the Butterworths for their screenpaly, to Firth and Kingsley for sure, and if I can figure out who the skinny Roman soldier was, give him one, too.

You know, with three movies with very good reviews (So far) coming out tomorrow, I was afraid that there'd be no "Worst movie of the week" ,What with 3:10 to Yuma getting Oscar buzz, Shoot em' up being called a great homage to the films of Sergio Leone, and Hatchet (Starring Horror Icons Robert Englund, Tony Todd, and Kane Hodder) getting surprisingly good reviews. (Although it's still very early for the latter) However thanks to the bad movie gods ( Most likely a board that includes John Derek, Edward D. Wood Jr., and Cecil B. Demille) we are "blessed" with a movie so bad it now sits at 0% on rotten tomatoes: Ladies and Gentleman: I now present to you the Worst movie of the week: The Brothers Solomon! Actually I just realized in my eagerness that's HeadRazzBerry's job, sorry about that.

Ladies and Gentleman: I now present to you the Worst movie of the week: The Brothers Solomon! |
It has to be The Brothers Solomon. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/brothers_solomon/ - RT has it at 6% , and 0% for the handful of cream of the crop critics that have reviewed it. Based on the reviews, Solomon must have disowned these boys.
With the releases during some weeks, it's a clear choice.

Speaking of 3:10 to Yuma, I just saw it. It was the best movie I've seen all year. Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, and Ben Foster all gave great performances. Peter Fonda's having a good year with good performances in this and Ghost Rider. Even Luke Wilson was ok in his extended cameo. If there was ever a movie that shouldn't be anywhere near the razzie nominating ballot, this is it. Hopefully I'll get Netflix soon, so I can point out movies that actually do belong on the ballot without having to pay eight bucks to get in, and $30 bucks for a bloody Icee coke that doesn't even stay frozen. Pretty soon first borns will be traded for admission to see a movie that has less than 20% on rotten tomatoes............Not that I'm bitter.

I saw "Mr. Bean's Holiday" tonight, and I would have to agree that it should get some Razzie consideration for both Worst Picture and Worst Actor for Atkinson. What a steaming pile! While acknowledging that the critics haven't been that cruel to it at R.T., I can't figure out why.
Admittedly, I was a pretty big fan of Mr. Bean's BBC TV show, but more than 20 minutes of this character gets terribly old, terribly quick. I can demonstrate just how awful this movie really was by noting that there were about 20 eight year-olds in the audience, and I didn't hear any of them laugh even once. There wasn't more than a pained chuckle or two from anyone one else in the audience. It was just a terrible movie.

2007 is by far the worst year for films. Even worse than 2005.

I think for next week (September 21) we might have 2 choices as Worst New Movie of the Weak: Good Luck Chuck, Jessica Alba's next film, and Resident Evil: Extinction. I think those two films should be considered because the trailers and TV ads for Good Luck Chuck were really bad, so it looks like the film will be bad. Same thing for Resident Evil: Extinction. In fact, I never really liked any of the Resident Evil movies at all!

Everyone that I know who's seen it, has told me that the only thing saving Balls of Fury from being unwatchable was that Christopher Walken once again brings the awesomness. Shoot Em' Up which I did see, was a pretty funny parody of films like Crank and The Transporter. Clive Owen was much better in this than the last time he attempted to be an action hero ( King Arthur), and Paul Giamatti was a surprisingly good villain. (Actually that didn't surprise me, as I've thought that he's been one of the best character actors in the business since Sideways).

What about 2006? You say Epic Movie, I say Date Movie, and then I'll throw in Van Wilder 2: the Rise of Taj, Doogal, Crossover, Phat Girlz, Let's Go to Prison, Zoom, Grandma's Boy, Turistas, Material Girls, Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties and Ultraviolet to make it an even dozen. The competition for worst was so bad last year, only four out of those twelve managed to get nominations. Snakes on a Plane wasn't even nominated! That doesn't even begin to touch BloodRayne, Little Man or worst picture winner Basic Instinct 2, a movie for which the Razzies were surely brought into existence.
I feel 2006 was a watershed of the worst. I look at 2007 so far, and none of the movies seem to reek as badly as the movies from 2006.

I look at 2007 so far, and none of the movies seem to reek as badly as the movies from 2006. | In my bottom 100 list there's 7 2007 films ("Slow Burn", "The Number 23", "Premonition", "Blood & Chocolate", "Primeval", "Epic Movie", and "Norbit"). But, there's 10 2006 films on the list ("Eragon", "Ultraviolet", "Pulse", "Little Man", "Date Movie", "BloodRayne", "Marie Antoinette", "Zoom", "Inland Empire", and "The Da Vinci Code"). 2006 is the worse year.

If you had to pick five movies that should be nominated for Worst Picture of 2007, what five would you pick? My five picks are:
1) Wild Hogs
2) Code Name: The Cleaner
3) Hitcher
4) Number 23
5) Dead Silence

Right now, I'd pick Epic Movie, Funny Money (you haven't seen the worst until you've seen that one--Chevy Chase, what were you thinking?!), I Know Who Killed Me, Blood & Chocolate and, in a couple of weeks, The Game Plan. If I had to drop out Funny Money, I'd choose Daddy Day Camp.

Resi-Evil 3 is already on the list, but Good Luck upChuck is not there. RT has only 6% positive reviews out of 18 critics so far. This may be another movie supporting a Worst Actress nod for Jessica Alba.

I also thought Sydney White would also be a Worst Movie of The Weak.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sydney_white/ - Rotten Tomatoes has Sydney White at a surprising 48% currently . I would have expected the idea of sticking Snow White into modern times to suck. Perhaps it will go down as more critiques are printed?
However, like Premonition before it, I don't think there's much chance of Good Luck Chuck recovering too much from http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/good_luck_chuck/ - its current 9% rating on Rotten Tomatoes . This week is definitely a two-fer, and I would like to see Good Luck Chuck be considered for its Razzie-ness, too.
And that's too bad. The premise of Good Luck Chuck seems pretty good. I would love to see a good, funny movie about a dude who becomes a good luck charm to the women who have slept with him. It's sad when filmmakers botch a good idea. That said, I wish they wouldn't have pointed to a Goth as the source of the hex. I've personally known and have read about Goths, and they're different, misunderstood, definitely rub people the wrong way, but not necessarily evil, and they don't have supernatural powers.

Update -- RT has Good Luck Chuck at 3% now, and the Cream of the Crop critics have it at 0%. With Jessica Alba sucking in both this and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Good Luck Chuck should be considered for a Razzie...or two...or three. . . .

Since several of us throughout this forum are advocating Good Luck Chuck for Razzie consideration, I thought I would link http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iKyG5GWXMCSLw9EBEG9qTd59SfiA - this Associated Press Article where Dane Cook and Jessica Alba raised $260,000 for charity at a screening of the movie in Knoxville, TN. That's actually a good thing. The mayor declared a "Dane Cook and Jessica Alba Day". No word on whether he took it back after viewing the movie. . . .
And get a load of the synposis--"about a clumsy penguin-keeper who captures Cook's heart." Uh, hello? That's not what this movie is about.

Can we, at least, nominate Roman Polanski for Worst Supporting Actor? He anally raped Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. Seriously, he raped them!
What's wrong with this movie?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Looking at the list, I am aware of The Seeker as the WOTW. However, another movie to look at is Feel the Noise. This film was kept almost airtight from critics, has Jenniper Lopez as one of the producers, and stars Omarion, who also had a major role in You Got Served.
