THE UMP-TEENTH REMAKE of http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Invasion+of+the+Body+Snatchers - INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS , 2007's INVASION TURNED OUT SO WELL THAT ITS STUDIO BROUGHT in THE WARCHOWSKI BROTHERS to DO a MAJOR RE-WRITE and RE-SHOOTS. AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS...

TOO BAD, THOUGH, 'CAUSE WITH NICOLE KIDMAN, DANIEL CRAIG and a BIG BUDGET, THIS COULDA BEEN a FUN RE-WORKING of an OLD HOLLYWOOD WARHORSE.

AND SPEAKING of POD PEOPLE, ANYONE ELSE THINK THE EXECUTIVE OFFICES of EVERY STUDIO in HOLLYWOOD RIGHT NOW MUST HAVE ROTTING PODS in the CLOSET? THAT WOULD GO a LONG WAY TOWARD EXPLAINING the EMOTION-LESS, SOUL-LESS CRAP THAT's BEEN HITTING SCREENS on a WEEKLY BASIS THIS ENTIRE YEAR...

Kidman: "My God...those pod people must eat an awful lot of fiber!"

Could this be Daniel Craig's first Razzie nod, Nicole Kidman's first Razzie nom as Worst Actress...and her second Worst Screen Couple nom??

Response from Head RAZZBerry: Paired with Will Ferrell in the lamentably lame recent remake of BEWITCHED, Kidman is already a Worst Screen Couple RAZZIE "winner"...

The film took too long to start promotions - the ads began like 2-3 weeks ago. Much like Lindsay Lohan's film I Know Who Killed Me. So there may be some bad reviews, and a possible chance for a Razzie nod. Who knows? Unless the Wachowski brothers can prove us wrong (they did The Matrix after all!).

Daniel Craig...why have I heard that...BOND!  Why would the newest James Bond be in this?

Also, the Wachowski's weren't the original directors, and this film has been through major rewrites and reshoots...with an original release date of June 2006?!

Must I also begin to worry about the live action remake of Speed Racer (also a Wachowski Bros. film)??

For some reason, this movie looks a little bit like that awful Nicole Kidman movie, "Dogsville".

Can anyone  name five non-independent films this year that weren't  sequels, remakes, based on comic books or cartoons...well pretty much films with original characters??

I think that this was a once good idea gone completely wrong. By the time they brought in "damage control," it was to late!

I think I'm going to see this movie this week. Looks great, and I liked The Faculty, which was also inspired by Invasion/Snatchers...

One thing for sure...it already has one strike against it: It's not being released for pre-review to the critics. And we all know that is not good!

I should have elaborated that was the only exception to the rule...but other than that, please name another movie without press screenings that has not out right disappointed...

Craig actually made this first, before he got the job as the new James bond -- he found out he had gotten the Bond gig right in the middle of filming this movie. They had to hold filming a couple of days so Daniel Craig could attend the press conference announcing him as the new Bond.

This also tells you how long this film has been in the can -- well before they brought in Neo and his gang to do damage control on this sen-less remake.

Actually, it is being screened. It's sitting at 16% at Rotten Tomatoes.

It looks like it's going to be another RAZZIE nod for Nicole Kidman, and this time, it's going to be a Worst Actress RAZZIE nod, and perhaps another Worst Screep Couple as well.

I can just see the worst director nomination for Hershbiegel "with unasked for assistance from the Wachowski's."

Ok, it has been shown to the critics...which makes you wrong. And I think you might need to reconsider not to nominate this as a Razzie contender because all I've heard about this film was okay and decent, not any worse.

True, it looks like they previewed it at the last minute (to avoid bad publicity?). But going by http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/invasion/ - RT's  Tomato meter, it is only rating 20% approval at this point. They'd probably have been better off without the critic's screenings!

At least Daniel Craig can excuse himself for this by saying finished this before getting the job as Bond in Casino Royale.

I doubt this will pick-up any Razzie Nods next year. The worst that may happen is, it will get put on our preliminary Nominee Ballots for Worst Remake. There is just so much worse garbage out there for this year than this! From what I understand, is the worst thing this movie will do is put you to sleep!

Response from Head RAZZberry: Actually, in addition to a possible slot on our Nominating Ballot as Worst Remake or Rip-Off, INVASION also looks likely to make the preliminary lists for Worst Director (Oliver Hirschbiegel, with an Un-Asked-for Assist from The Warchowski Brothers) and possibly former Oscar winner (and former Scientologist?) Nicole Kidman as Worst Actress...

I have a feeling Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig will be nominated for WORST ON-SCREEN COUPLE for "The Invasion" and "The Golden Compass". I saw "The Invasion" the day it came out and there was nobody in the theater. The people who were there walked out during the film. It was boring and forgettable.

It was boring and forgettable but is it actually worth calling a boring film the worst film ever?

With all due respect, after reading through every post on this thread, not one person has suggested that this is "the worst film ever." At worst, there have been some suggestions for possible Razzie nominations this year. The two suggestions are very different.

Agreed, as usual I think moviewizguy takes what we said to much to heart, I would suggest that moviewizguy re-read my last post concerning this thread. Like I said the worst thing this movie along with Evening will most likely due is make me slobber all over myself from putting me to sleep (Not a pretty picture by the way). This movie just barely skims the top of the most prestiges honor of worst movie ever, Like I said before there is so much worse out there (Daddy Day Camp, Bratz anyone?). But I am sure our esteemed Razzie colleague will find saving graces with those 2 as well.

Note to HeadRAZZBerry: Suggestion for a new Razzie category, "Worst Picture that will most likely put you to Sleep"

Yeah, Larry did some of his own "Matrix Re-loaded" and is is now Lana Wachowski. I guess now will call them the Wachowski siblings (I guess?).

It was actually a story by Robert.A Heinlein that put pods on the backs of people which gave rise to the term "Pod People".  In Heinlein's book,  the invasion resulted in civil war, pitting the hero as the good guy and the aliens as the bad guys.  The book was a metaphor for the  conservative John Birch Society's fifth column scenario: infiltration by communists resisted by American patriots.
Robert Heinlein was a well know conservative, libertarian and friend to Barry Goldwater and a staunch anti-communist.

The aliens attached themselves to humans and were thus easily spotted,  and the victims soon wore out and died of starvation or thirst.  Later, the aliens began to take better care of their victims, but the patriots soon had the upper hand.
This would have made a pretty good movie.

The Body Snatchers, on the other hand,  was a horror story, with zombies and gremlins everywhere.  It was supposed to be scarier because you couldn't tell who was infected.

Over the years, the plot lines of the two original stories has become tangled and the movies took on political overtones.
That it is being remade again says less about the novelty of the original and more about the lack of creativity in Hollywood.

R.Heinlein would have scoffed at the pseudo realism of Sci-Fi movies being made today.   He would have laughed at the idiots who think computer graphics and explosions make up for bad character development and lousy plot devices.

Hollywood is headed for a record year in ticket sales, but not in attendance.  Most experts agree that once again,  it has been the sequels that have distorted the figures.  Whether the Indies make a big difference this year or not is still in doubt.

So I finally watched it. Like the remake (2007) better than the 1978 version. I guess you could've seen this coming miles away. I liked it because it was faster paced....and it wasn't slow and quiet like the 1978 version. WATCH IT YOU GUYS! AWESOME MOVIE!

This better get a RAZZing. The 78' one was WAY better than this one. But, neither can compare to the original 50s' version. Well, the 78' version could.

Well, I like the 2007 remake better, because it doesn't waste its time trying to explain the infection and where it came from and blah blah blah (which filled about an hour of the 1978 version). The 2007 remake actually assumes we've already seen at least one version of the movie, and know what we're getting ourselves into. I like that...

OK. 2 years later. I've been hearing about Oliver Hirschbiegel's version being torn to pieces by Joel Silver disliking his cut and got like 3 new directors and a new writer to re-write 60% of the script which was why the movie was so inconsistent with fast-cut editing (although I still liked the movie) along with replacing the before ambiguous ending (which I didn't like from the detailed description on IMDb). I really want to see Oliver's cut, which I heard runs about 2 hours long. I'm trying to look for it everywhere but I can't find it. I honestly want to see it.
