EITHER HOLLYWOOD IS GETTING BETTER at DISGUISING the LACKLUSTER QUALITY of ITS PRODUCT, OR WE'RE GETTING LESS SAVVY at SPOTTING TURKEYS BEFORE THEY ACTUALLY TROT ACROSS the SCREEN. EITHER WAY, the ADS for http://www.razzies.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=386&PN=1 - LOVE HAPPENS CONVINCED US IT WAS JUST a STANDARD ISSUE, RUN-of-the-MILL ROMANTIC COMEDY with TWO REASONABLY ATTRACTIVE CO-STARS -- THE CINEMATIC EQUIVALENT of a GUTTER BALL, NEITHER a CONTENDER for THOSE OTHER AWARDS NOR for OURS...

BUT THEN CAME the SURPRISE TRIPPLE WHAMMY -- BY ITS OPENING DAY, HAPPENS HAD an http://www.razzies.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3870&PN=1 - R.T. RATING WELL WITHIN RAZZ-ABLE RANGE, and by the END of ITS OPENING WEEKEND, BOTH ITS http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0899106/usercomments - WORD-of-MOUTH and http://www.razzies.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3871&PN=1 - BOX OFFICE NUMBERS MADE IT LOOK LIKE ONE of OURS AFTER ALL.

HERE'S YOUR CHANCE to PILE ON to WHAT LOOKS LIKE 2009's 57th DISAPPOINTING "ROM-COM BOMB."  AND WE CAN ALMOST GUARANTEE YOU EVERYONE (EXCEPT MAYBE MOVIEWIZEGUY) IS LIKELY to LOVE ANYTHING NASTY YOU WISH to ADD to the DISCUSSION...

ANISTON: "I sure hope the RAZZberry-colored lighting and the gold beads in the background aren't some kind of omen..."

Why force the trappings? Let's just make a movie BASED on cliches, not just FEATURING them.

This probably should've gotten Worst of the Week. But I guess a Megan Fox film bombing probably made more news.

The problem here is that this film has already been made about 800 times and what does it really matter if this is the worst of them? It's not like the best one was particularly good. Sure, we may have missed it, but by the end of the year, even the couple of dozen people who actually saw it probably won't be able to distinguish it from any of the other 799 incarnations, so we aren't to be faulted for treating it with selective indifference.

Yea, this movie does nothing to even draw attention to itself. I have a hard time believing that any woman will even be able to drag her man to it.

Lotta single, lonely women...that's its only audience.

One of the biggest problems with this film is the complete lack of chemistry between the leads: Aniston and Eckhart together in a romantic comedy/drama?

Aniston doesn't seem to do much BUT rom-com-dram, but Eckhart can do much, much more. Though I don't really see him as a romantic leader, either.

Eckhart is just not the rom-com type. Yes, he's got charm and he's a good actor, but put him in a rom-com and whatever chemistry he should have with the female lead is just not there.

They should just do a Rom-Com with Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts, and maybe make it a love triangle with Sandra Bullock. Then they don't have to worry about destroying any male actor's street cred.

Unfortunately, even that point doesn't distinguish this film from several dozen of the others. It's almost as if there is some sort of fool's lottery in Hollywood as to which two semi-recognizable faces have to appear in this month's edition...or, which semi-recognizable male face has to appear across from Aniston this month.

Maybe in a couple of month's they'll do something slightly original and cast Lindsey Lohan across from Aniston. At least the men would go see it.

It's not like it would damage either of their careers either.

Sorry...but I guess the ultimate expression here is that what we all REALLY want to see is some Aniston-Lohan girl on girl action.

Probably the film would have been much better, or actually not so bad, if Eckhart had been cast opposite Anne Hathaway, Maggie Gyllenhaal, or Michelle Monaghan.

...and it might as well be IMAX 3-D

... with Aniston playing a deranged serial killer.

Or instead of a different pair of leads, how about a different plot other than the being beaten with a stick after its dead horse of a plot that is "boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy wins girl back"?

Nah...I just want to see the Lohan-Aniston girl on girl action.
