Would love it if either this movie, Scream 4, Hoodwinked 2, Apollo 18, I Don't Know How She Does It, Piranha 3DD, So Undercover or Madonna's W.E. somehow got nominated for Worst Picture...

Just because the idea of Harvey Weinstein becoming a Razzie-nominee puts a smile on my face!

So to you, Vheid, it's all about the Weinstein company this year? Out of those, you should focus your efforts on Hood vs. Evil. Everybody spat on that one.

Scream 4 got average reviews (rather than negative), and the other 6 haven't been released yet, so I don't know how the reviews will be anymore after what happened with Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Final Dest. 5. If All the Time in the World 4-D gets negative reviews as well, then you'll get to decide between it and Hood vs. Evil.

The first review on Rotten T is negative, which is a good sign for us. I hope more reviews come in as negative because the stars of the original Spy Kids trilogy are too old to reprise their roles. Add in the "Aroma-Scope," the 4th installment factor, and Robert Rodriguez's record with films for children under 15, and maybe we finally have another contender!!

I won't vote for them if I don't think them truly Razzie-worthy...

But would like to see the Weinstein Company get a Razzie-nod one of these days (doesn't have to be this year).... Mainly because they managed to avoid this for all of these years... and because their company is run by the producer with the most undeserved Oscars to his name...

You might've wondered why I was so happy to see Vampires Suck get nominated for Worst Picture in 2010, without winning. Before I forget to tell anyone again, I treat the runners-up as equally important to the winners. If I think a nominee didn't deserve it, I object. (Half of the 2010 RAZZIE finalists!) If I think there was something worse that should've been nominated in its stead, I object. (2009 is the most egregious one.) If they get most of the nominees right, but pick the wrong winner, I object (2008's Worst PSRR should've been The Day the Earth Stood Still [remake]... you know, "The day the Earth blowed up real good"?!)

Also, there are some typos. Somewhere it says "2001's most unwelcome sequel" instead of "2011's..."

Also, what does the double bond mean in CHAM=PEEN?

Disney isn't reviving this franchise... The Weinstein Company is... It seem that Harvey and Bob Weinstein took the rights of the several franchises they owned (Scream, Scary Movie, Spy Kids) with them, when they left Miramax and started TWC.... However their company was doing badly in recent years and was nearly bankrupt... As I understood a bank (or something) bought (or hired, or loaned, or something) the company and lended it money if they promised that their films made a surden amount of cash and that a surden number of their films won the Best Picture-oscar (The latter mainly thanks to Harvey's reputation) within a surden time period... So, desperate for money... The brothers are now reviving all their old (long dead) franchises.... So... Don't be suprised if From Dusk Till Dawn 4 is anounced one of these days...

I read an article about this a while back (could be last year)... explaining it very clearly... But I can't seem to find it now...

Edit: HeadRAZZ... I see you made some changes in your Official Razzie Take to reflect what I said above...

Thank you for listening...

Old Robbie-Rod likes to lecture about using cheap filmmaking tricks to keep his movies under budget. When it comes to "Spy Kids", he really shouldn't use those little tricks, because it really makes the movie look like cheap ... in a less than $1 million budget way.

Although what Michaels says is true, it doesn't distract from the other films he's made, and I'm not just saying that because I attend the same university where "Old Robbie-Rod" went to college.

I love the fact that he does a lot with little money. It shows up-and-coming filmmakers that you don't need a $100 million budget to do the things big budget Hollywood films do.

So Fright Night was passed up because it was reportedly good?

I'm thinking of doing a member-started forum for Conan, because it reads 38% on Metacritic and Rotten on R.T.

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: If the RT numbers on CONAN continue to plummet ( http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/conan_the_barbarian_2011/ - before the weekend's over. In other words, posting a Member Started Forum on it at this time would likely be be redundant rather than helpful...

a) It already has a Member Started forum...

b) The HeadRAZZ already sort of anounced that he was making it a bonus worst movie of the week... So he might make a forum of his own...

Although it may sound like I'm saying something positive about this film, putting down the first two Spy Kids movies is kinda ridicolous, because they were critically acclaimed.

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: I am unaware of anyone "putting down" the first two SPY KIDS movies -- In fact, my "Official RAZZIE® Take" on this film ( http://www.razzies.com/forum/ye-olde-head-razzberrys-take_topic5291.html - ) opens with an acknowledgement that the first two SPY KIDS movies were actually quite good...

It just seems people put down the franchise as a whole. Don't these people realize that these movies made more money than Sin City?

As for this one's box office, it could be bad or good. I think it'll do fine (anyone remember the Smurfs?). I doubt it's budget  is all that high (The first 3 Spy Kids had budgets of 38 million). So I could see it being profitable in the long run. Enough for the studio to convince themselves to do another one. Not that I care!

I'm sure there are people who put down the entire  saga like Whatsthepoint says. There are some sequels so bad they make you forget why you liked the previous one in the first place, and that's what happened to a lot of people who hated the 3rd one of these.

Spy Kids 1 received an Honorable Mention on my Best Films of 2001. The production quality was good, but it wasn't even among the 40 best films of the year. No-one I knew in person ever spoke of it. When Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams got released, I forgot the trailer in less than a month; I never was interested in seeing any of them. On the complete list of eligible 2003 titles (Google search parameters: 2003 RAZZIE eligible titles), I saw about 40 titles written in CAPS LOCK. I believe Spy Kids 3D: Game Over (I've grown to expect that with Sylvester Stallone films) was among them. The current Rotten T rating is 44%, which is poor, but I'd expect it would be lower, because I doubt I've ever heard anyone praise it.

Despite not having any reviews on Metacritic, the calendar's down to 1 day before release, and All the Time in the World is losing 0 to 3 at Rotten T.

I remember watching Spy Kids 2 a hundred times when I was a kid. I loved that movie!

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: As has (hopefully) been clarified here by now, no one here is arguing that the first 2 SPY KIDS films were RAZZIE®-worthy. Clearly, the series went "off the rails" with the 3rd/3-D installment, in which Stallone played five characters (and maybe should've "won" 5 RAZZIES®?).

The idea of taking this franchise yet a 4th step after that fiasco seems to many of us to be begging for a RAZZing..

I remember seeing the trailer for this when I went to see 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2' with my family and even then I knew it was gonna suck. And when the trailer announced the movie would be in "4-D" with "Aroma-Scope" (Smell-o-Vision to some) I remember thinking to myself, "This is just getting ridiculous..."

I suspect a lot of the new films are bombing because of the 3-D. It's been an ongoing trend this year, while all the 2-D flicks are doing fantastically well, like The Help and Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which is unfortunate because some of these 3=D films are quite good, like the Fright Night remake.

Spy Kids production budget was only 27 million. Making almost half of it in it's first weekend is not a bomb. Also these movies really don't cost anything to make.

There should be a law banning Robert Rodriguez from making anymore kids movies. Especially since he makes some of the most entertaining, gory, and funnest r-rated action movies out there. it's such a shame to see him do something as low brow as this. It pains me to say this but i think he probably needs another razzie nod, if nothing else maybe it will help him wake up and realize that he needs to stop this crap and start making Sin City 2.

I really wish Robert Rodriquez wouldn't keep going back to kiddie movies just so he can make a few extra dollars, because he sucks at it! The CGI in his kiddie movies looks like bad Photoshop that was thrown together over the weekend. He should stick with what he does best: Hard R-rated, action flicks!

Oops, you beat me to what I was going to post. I just watched "Machete", and while it's far from being a perfect movie, it is tons of fun! That is what Rodriguez should be doing more of, not this kiddie ca-ca. I know Vits hates the sfx from "Ghostbusters", but those sfx look like stuff out of "Avatar" compared to what Robert put in this franchise and his other kid-friendly movies like "Shark Boy and Lava Girl" and "Short". *Cringes*

So Mayhem5185 doesn't want Robert Rodriguez to make anymore kids-under-13 movies? I daresay you speak for everyone here. You know what we should do? We should sanction him! The sanction would decree that all the rest of his films be aimed at age 13+ audiences. Sin City is his best example; it was the 39th of my 40 Best Films of 2005. That very spring, unfortunately, he released The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3D

Also, I must ask, HeadRAZZBerry: Why didn't Shark & Lava get a forum here?

In honor of "Spy Kids 4" (*cringes*), here's an article about bad CGI in mainstream movies that you would expect from much lower budgeted movies. Proving once and for all, sometimes you're better off with a costumed stuntman, a remote controlled puppet, a small scale model, or a mat painting, because they are often cheaper anyway, and look more convincing than rushed CG.

Shark & Lava wasn't THAT long ago. I compared the 2005 release schedule with your estimated 40 forums for that year, and I'm certain you should've added a forum for it at the same time you added The Honeymooners [remake]. The only reason you picked Honeymooners was because it starred Cedric the Entertainer and it was a direct remake, right? If we went back to the Complete List of Eligible 2005 Releases forum, do you think we could add member-started forums for them, even if it were only for old time's sake? And that was Lautner? Anything else I have to say about him, you won't know until November.

I tried to enjoy this movie. I really did. Unfortunately it's just a mash-up of trash. What's with the claims of "4D"? The fourth dimension is apparently the aroma the audience is supposed to smell?

This movie is an insult to anyone using even part of their intelligence. At this moment anyone also includes children, the movie's target audience. The alleged fourth dimension was obviously Robert Rodriguez's attempts to distract the audience from realizing how bad this movie really is. Even a moron can figure out this movie sucks!

Why does this movie exist?

The good:

Joel McHale is sorta funny in a couple scenes: I try to have at least one good thing about a movie when the movie isn't an F.

The bad:

Alexa Vega: Vega's pretty bland here and it's obvious that she doesn't give two sh*ts about the movie and she's just here to collect a paycheck.

Daryl Sabara: Read what I said about Vega and replace "Vega" with "Sabara" and reverse all of the gender-specific words.

Robert Rodriguez: OK, seriously Rob? It's obvious you cared as much about this as Sabara and Vega did.

The ugly:

Ricky Gervais: Gervais voices the robot dog. This dog makes the dog from Mars Needs Moms look the like the dog from Beginners! Gervais is very annoying and it's obvious that he's here only for the paycheck. (Noticing a pattern?)

Jessica Alba: Alba's pretty (and) bad here. She's plays the wife of Joel McHale's character and the step-mom of the new spy kids. She's only here for the paycheck.

Jeremy Piven: Piven plays Alba's annoying boss who turns out to be the main villain. He, also, plays a lame villain called Tik Tok. And all of their henchmen. So, it's like Stallone from the last one times two! You can pretty much guess what his motivation for being in this was.

There's an important lesson here. When everyone involved with the movie only cares about getting paid, the movie will suck big time. Grade: D+

Next-up: Atlas Shrugged Part 1!
