I don't know if I mentioned this or not,but this looks a lot like WHITEOUT.

The cast includes:
-Mary Elizabeth Winsted: Like a lot of actors, she became recognizable in bad movies, but as she's been getting famous, she's been seen in good movies. But is she a good actress?

-Joel Edgerton: It's been weeks since he was praised in WARRIOR, but now he's here. Where is his career going? By the way, he was also in the Razzie nominated STAR WARS II & III.

-Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje: Aside from his TV work(LOST and OZ), most of his movie decisions have been questionable, including G.I. JOE

-Ulrich Thomsen: He was also in SEASON OF THE WITCH. Could he be a contender?

-Eric Christian Olsen: The only cast member who's already been nominated for a Razzie. But it was for Worst Screen Couple. Maybe he'll be up for an acting award this year?

As for the crew, this is the director's debut. And the writer...well, on one hand, he improved the FINAL DESTINATION saga with the 5th movie. On the other hand, he insulted A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET with the remake from last year.

The 1982 version of The Thing is one of my favorite movies of all time. Also, one of the writers is Ron Moore, creater of the new Battlestar Galactica, one of the best shows of the decade.

It's a common misconception that he wrote ANOES. He merely re-wrote it, adding the "micronaps" aspect to the film, which is one of the more original updates in the ELM STREET remake. The original writer was Wesley Strick.

Oh that must mean it's okay.

James Berardinelli of Reelviews, arguably one of the best non-Ebert critics, gave this three stars out of four. Also, here's one of his Tweets from last Friday: "If the Phillies lose tonight, it will make today a really lousy day. The morning was already ruined by sitting through TRESPASS."

Been there, done that, twice. At least the first time we got to see James Arness dressed up as a giant carrot. Astonishingly enough, his career survived. We can only hope the people responsible for yet another remake of this film are less fortunate.

This movie is an abortion and needs a good kick in the crutch to kill it.

To even think of doing a sequel is retarded (which they wanted to do first)

Then to change tact and do a prequel is stupidityness in the whole history of stupidityness.

But the crowning turd in the pipe is to not even change the name, knowing that if they changed the name, no one would see it.

I think they kinda sound like Depeche Mode

R.T.(30-35%):"It serves the bare serviceable minimum for a horror flick, but it's all boo-scares and a slave to the far superior John Carpenter version".Will it be a contender?

By the way,how many prequels have been nominated for a Razzie?

Well the Star Wars prequels come to mind (except the last), even though all three of them are rated fresh on rotten tomatoes.

I'm asking because I found odd that no prequels have been nominated for Worst Prequel Or Sequel.Luckily, now I know.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and Hannibal Rising were both up for Worst Prequel Or Sequel.

As for this movie, it was... meh. It wasn't too bad, but not very good. Mary Elizabeth Winstead was kinda wooden, but the only real nomination for this I can see is Worst Supporting Actor for Ulrich Thomsen, mainly because of his terrible performance in the second worst movie of the year. I gave it a B-.*

*I should mention that I graded the movie on its own merits. If I graded it compared to the Carpenter version, that grade would be a lot lower!

I think Dumb and Dumberer was a prequel.

Elizabeth Hartman and Judith Barsi are more talented and beautiful than Scarlett Johansson and Chloe Grace Moretz. Fact.

Worst Supporting Actor: Brendan Fraser/Gimme Shelter and The Nut Job

I just checked.6 prequels have been nominated for Worst Prequel/Sequel* in the 17 years the category has existed:
-THE FLINTSTONES IN VIVA ROCK VEGAS.
-STAR WARS II.
-DUMB & DUMBERER.
-THE EXORCIST IV.
-THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE:THE BEGINNING.
-HANNIBAL RISING.

*Who knows how many have been nominated in other categories?

I saw this yesterday, and I thought it was quite clever how it fits in with the '82 version. Just rewatching the first 20 minutes of the old Thing right afterward puts a huge grin on my face.

Well, I think it's a great movie to watch. It's the definition of suspense and thriller, and it's quite interesting. :)

Skip to 04:24. After the ratings, keep going to hear my thoughts on animatronics vs CGI.
