OK, I'm just gonna come out and say... I'm considering watching this at a cinema. That's right. You know why? Putting aside the fact that I felt VALENTINE'S DAY was merely average, I'm looking at what's on theaters right now, and there is a lot of crap. Sure, this one is more likely to be bad than good, but there are movies that are worth it. I've seen a lot of bad movies in cinemas in my life, but almost none of them have felt like a waste of time, because I say "It was worth the risk".

VALENTINE'S DAY was an excuse to bring stars together, but at least there was a purpose: combine every romantic comedy ever*. This one doesn't even have that. I mean, it's probably another combination of rom-com clichés, but if it's not the first one, what's the point? Anyway, I want to believe that the sweetness in Garry Marshall's movies (or obligation to please) and the cast (come on, at least half the actors have to be at least decent) will help.

*LOVE ACTUALLY didn't do that, it wanted to combine all the types of love. That's different.

Let's break this down:

Like in VALENTINE'S DAY, the actors with the most possibilities to be nominated are the ones that were in other movies this year: Chris LUDACRIS Bridges (FAST FIVE and NO STRINGS ATTACHED); Josh Duhamel (TRANSFORMERS 3); Cary Elwes (NO STRINGS ATTACHED and TINTIN); Common (HAPPY FEET 2); Robert De Niro (KILLER ELITE and LIMITLESS); Carla Gugino (MR. POPPER'S PENGUINS and SUCKER PUNCH); Ashton Kutcher (NO STRINGS ATTACHED); Seth Meyers and Sarah Jessica Parker (I DON'T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT); Lea Michele (GLEE: THE 3D CONCERT MOVIE); Til Schweiger (THE 3 MUSKETEERS); Sofia Vergara (HAPPY FEET 2 and THE SMURFS).

As HeadRAZZ has stated in the past, he also considers Razzie nominees and/or winners, or repeat offenders: Halle Berry; Jessica Biel; Zac Efron; Katherine Heigl.

I don't know if Jim Belushi, Jon Bon Jovi, Alyssa Milano and Michelle Pfeiffer are repeat offenders or not. I know that Abigail Breslin and Hector Elizondo aren't. Will they be in consideration too?

Was this movie made to piss me off? It's filled with people that I hate. Assface, Katherine Heigl, Horseface, Bon Jovi. Especially Bon Jovi, because he always shows up on the rock stations I listen to, usually between good bands like AC/DC, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones.

After an entire year of Hollywood seemingly making movies just to make money, this looks like the most blatant example of that trend. And the saddest part: This star-studded P.O.S. will probably...make lotsa money.

I was thinking... you know what would be cool? And actually an improvement on VALENTINE'S DAY? There should be a scene where all the actors are together. A lot of "reunions" do that: the OCEAN trilogy, FAST FIVE, THE AVENGERS, even when all the RED POWER RANGERS got together. What's the point of these movies if we only see all the stars together in the poster?

That made me laugh. That has happened to me before too, enjoying a classic "Bad Company" song, followed by this wannabe rocker. Plus, I can't recall which crappy movie it was but all of a sudden Bon Jovi showed up as a teacher. Didn't see that one coming!

ETA: The movie was "Cry Wolf" with Jared Padalecki from the "Friday 13th" remake, as one of the lead actors. Padalecki is also One BAD Actor.

You're not gonna like this mbh. http://www.futurerocklegends.com/The_Snub_List.php - http://www.futurerocklegends.com/The_Snub_List.php  Bon Jovi's been eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for three years and they've been nominated once. Bad Company's been eligible for 12 years and they've NEVER been nominated!*

There's a Bon Jovi movie where he's looking through his girlfriend's stuff and finds a sex toy. I can't remember the name, but that scene was just hilarious. (Edit: it's called The Leading Man. It co-stars past Razzie targets Thandie Newton, Lambert Wilson, and Nicole Kidman)

*Bon Jovi's, also, been nominated more times than Barry White, The Cars, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, Def Leopard, Dick Dale, Dire Straits, ELO, Iron Maiden, Journey, Judad Priest, The Moody Blues, Roxy Music, Rush, Steppenwolf, Steve Miller, Thin Lizzy, Warren Zevon, Weird Al, Willie Nelson, Yes, The Zombies, and many other better artists who've been eligible longer. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame makes the Golden Globes looks like us!

New Year's Eve now has an appalling approval rating of 6% at Rotten T and terrible reviews at Metacritic (24%), so this should definitely be nominated for Worst Ensemble Cast. The only one who should be nominated in the acting categories is Sarah Jessica Parker because she also starred in I Don't Know How She Does It.

If we need a Bonus Worst New Movie this week, I'd recommend The Sitter, assuming the review scores will continue to plunge (as of Dcb.  8 at 16:11, 25% at RT and 44% at MC).

I'm aware of that list. My heart is bleeding for "Journey", but at least "Lynyrd Skynyrd" made it.
I mean, just listen to "Wheel in the Sky" and "Simple Man", and THEN listen to Bon Jovi's "It's My life".

Bon Jovi as a music act is as overhyped and undeservingly successful as Twilight. It's women who think his music is great (and that he's good looking). And those same ones probably will think "New Year's Eve" is a great movie.

I don't care if people like his music, but I do care if they think he would be more deserving than "Journey". And his repeated attempts to be an actor are annoying as well.

I actually think that Bon Jovi's worse than Twatlight! It's easy to avoid watching or reading it. With Bon Jovi, specifically if you're in a car, he's harder to ignore as he can pop up any time.

To get back to the topic of New Year's Eve, this is the fifth movie this year that Peter Travers has given zero stars to!

Just like "Valentine's Day", this film takes a number of big names and squanders any potential they have.  If this succeeds at the box office, then we might end up having to deal with another one of these movies later.  "New Year's Eve" looks like a huge Worst Picture contender with a Tomatometer rating of 6% and a Metascore of 21, but it's up against "The Undefeated", "The Roommate", "Breaking Dawn Part 1", "Big Momma's House 3", "Abduction", and four Adam Sandler products.

*As I said on the main forum concerning all releases, this is pretty much the opposite of a certain other movie with an all-star cast that comes out the same week as 'New Year's Eve'

I looked up your comment on the main forum, and I can't figure out about what "wasted potential" you are talking about? I've hardly ever seen a movie where more talentless hacks come together and try to make another buck from their falling stars -- or desperately try to be exposed to any audience. Half of the people don't have any talent. Hopefully, this movie flops.

There are ensemble movies that work, such as It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

There are others that misfire such as 1941

And then there are some so awful such as The Story of Mankind

I got a strong hunch that Screw Years Evil falls in the last category!

New Year's Eve is flopping. Estimates for the weekend's opening keep dropping, now it's as low as $13.7 million after they were predicting an opening in the $25-30 million range and Valentine's Day had opened at $56.3 million.

I am not surprised. This movie looks like a bad TV show. In fact, it looks like The Love Boat.

I always thought that they could have saved some time and script-writing effort if the Love Boat  had sailed to Fantasy Island. The washed up guest stars on The Love Boat  always appeared on Fantasy Island the following week. LOL  Usually actors made an appearance on those shows when their careers were sufficiently washed up that they couldn't get a gig on Hollywood Squares or The Match Game.

I just watched this recently. Argh!

This movie is definitely in my list for nominations. Here's why:

The screenplay is boring and that's putting it nicely. For a movie to have more than one story each story has to be easily followed. This doesn't happen because there are too many stories. To say that the stories are half-baked is an insult to anything half-baked. These stories haven't even been put into the oven yet.

The acting is sub-standard. Then again it's hard for any decent actor to give a convincing performance when the screenplay's stories are so small. There's little material for each actor to work on.

Gary Marshall, the director, also directed the dreadful Valentine's Day. So it's no surprise that he also directed this trash. He made little, if any, effort to get the cast to have actual chemistry with each other.

Grrrrr.......

SchumacherH8ter, I also tried looking for good things in this movie, but it was hard. Even the original songs suck. No, not because Jon Bon Jovi sings them, they would've sucked anyway. The only good thing I could find was that Sarah Jessica Parker didn't play CARRIE BRADSHAW again.

Time to rip into this over-stuffed pile of crap. Much like Bucky Larson, this will be a 9 worst things review. Here's the two things about the movie that didn't totally suck like a blackhole: the Zac Efron/Michelle Pfeiffer subplot (they were the two characters that I wanted to brutally murder the least) and the Seth Myers/Jessica Biel subplot (the only funny line in the movie happened during their subplot: "We have to go downstairs where cars live.")

9.) Sofia Vergara: Vergara plays Heigl's best friend and an admirer of Jon Bon Jovi's character. She's annoying in this as well as in The Smurfs. She was on the nominating ballot, but I didn't vote for her.

8.) The blooper reel: After the movie ends, we're "treated" to some "bloopers". They're less bloopers and more pranks. Like the part where Jessica Biel gives birth to... a Blu-Ray of Valentine's Day? Reminding us of better movies won't make us think your movie is better.*

7.) Sarah Jessica Parker: SJP plays the mother of Abigal Breslin. She's annoying and obnoxious.

6.) Assface Kutcher: I could go into explicite detail about how terrible Assface is as a douchey New Year's Eve hating hipster, but instead I'll make a comment that will make the film as a whole seem worse: Assface Kutcher, the worst actor working today, isn't among the five worst things about this movie!

5.) Katherine Heigl: Heigl plays a party planner with a past with Bon Jovi. Heigl's performance is on par with all her other non-Knocked Up performances: absolutely terrible!

4.) The concept: The concept of the movie ("let's stuff as many movie 'stars' as possible into one movie!") is a highly flawed one that made the makers a sh*t loud of money last Winter with Valentine's Day. Fortunately, this bombed and we're now free from these type of movies! Hopefully.

3.) Jon Bon Jovi: God, I hate Jon Bon Jovi.

2.) The script: While it's not as abombinable as Bucky Larson's, it's still horribly thin and underwritten.

1.) Garry Marshall: Marshall is a terrible director who's made terrible, terrible movies in the past. I can't say this is his worst because it doesn't have Rosie O'Donnell wearing S&M gear or Lindsay Lohan, so I'll say it's his third worst.

I do have a funny story about this movie. When I was driving home from this, New Year's Day by U2 started playing. This has happened before, like when I heard Werewolves Of London when I was driving home from Breaking Wind and Stillborn from Black Label Society when I was driving home from Jack & Jill. Grade: F

Next-up: Extremely Terrible & Incredibly Tasteless... and my NEW 10 worst movies of the year list!!!!!!!

*And yes, Valentine's Day is a better movie.
