AS WITH  http://www.razzies.com/forum/piranha-3dd_forum630.html - , the MAKERS of  http://www.razzies.com/forum/abraham-lincoln-vampire-hunter_forum633.html - ARGUABLY SET OUT to MAKE a MOVIE THAT WOULD BE "SO-STUPID-IT's-FUNNY." BUT THERE's a BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SETTING OUT to BE STUPID/FUNNY with a BREAST-OBSESSED KILLER FISH MOVIE and TAKING a NEAR SACRED HISTORICAL FIGURE and TURNING HIM INTO a CARTOONISH CHARACTER.

IF FOX's FAILURE to PRE-SCREEN THIS FILM (and THEIR LACK of PROMINENT PAID PROMOTION ANYWHERE ONLINE or IN PRINT) ARE ANY INDICATION, IT LOOKS LIKE the STUDIO IS NOT PLEASED with HOW THIS ONE HAS TURNED OUT.

IF YOU'D LIKE to CHECK OUT Ye Olde Head RAZZberry's FOTO FUNNY on THIS FILM, HERE's the http://www.razzies.com/forum/head-razzberrys-foto-funny-for-abe-vampire-hunter_topic5897.html - to DO SO...

AND IF YOU'D LIKE to OFFER YOUR FEEDBACK, FEEL FREE to DO SO BELOW...

For what it's worth, the cast includes Vits Award nominee for Best Movie Performance Anthony Mackie. Although, it also includes Worst Movie Chemistry nominee Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

The director also made WANTED (6/10), which was so over-the-top that it was good. And the script writer also co-wrote the movie DARK SHADOWS and created THE HARD TIMES OF R.J. BERGER, an MTV show about a nerd with the biggest c*ck in school.

Yeah, they probably should've chosen a historic figure that was already a type of warrior. I guess they're going for the ultimate irony?

My intuition, 2 1/2 days before release, that this probably won't be as bad as That's My Boy. There seems to be less RAZZIE pedigree, and the director hasn't made any films that ever made my Bottom 40 lists. I'm predicting between 33 and 37% approval rating at Rotten T.

Also, what effect does this being a novel-to-film adaptation have? And does it mean much that Tim Burton was among the 3+ producers?

To me, there's so much uncertainty about whether this'll be one of ours, that I'm reserving most of my judgments.

Heck, all I can do is imagine how Konami, the creator of the Castlevania series, reacted to news of this film, let alone the source material.

We had a movie where Edgar Allen Poe became an ersatz private detective hunting down a guy committing murders based on his stories. So why not have honest Abe hunt down a few vampires? (Apart from the fact that it is appallingly retarded)

Edgar Allan Poe wrote Horror stories, so that idea makes more sense. With Lincoln, they should've made him the main character in LIAR LIAR.
LOL

No Vits, George Washington should be in Liar Liar. Of course, all that stuff about the cherry tree was a load of B.S. http://www.cracked.com/article_16101_the-5-most-ridiculous-lies-you-were-taught-in-history-class.html - LINK ...

1)I said that because that movie teaches the main character not to lie, and Lincoln is known for his honesty.

2)That's the spirit!

UP-DATE from Ye Olde Head RAZZberry: It's opening day for this movie, and my comment above about Fox's lack of print advertising for ABE: VAMP BABE KILLER seems prescient: Neither today's L.A. Times nor the Orange County Register (the two main papers in the "Greater L.A. Area") have even a tiny print ad for this. They both do, however, have reviews slamming the film. The review in The Register gave it a grade of "D" and opened with the line: "Enormous in its scope and colossal in its stupidity!"...

R.T. (35-45%): "It has visual style to spare, but its overly serious tone doesn't jibe with its decidedly silly central premise, leaving filmgoers with an unfulfilling blend of clashing ingredients".

http://rogerebert.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20120620/REVIEWS/120629989 - Roger Ebert gave it 3 stars out of 4.

Due to the numerous times I've seen this movie's trailer, I am hardly surprised by its presence on the forum.

Oh and it's ironic that 20th Century Fox are distributing it since they are also acting as the international distributors for the OTHER film concerning Abe Lincoln (Steven Spielberg's upcoming biopic of the man himself).

This made about $16 mil for the weekend. That's more than Jonah Hex made in its entire run, and this got better reviews. I say this because AL:VH and Jonah Hex have a lot in common. They're both fantasy-action movies set in the Civil War era, and both opened against Pixar movies.

Since my dad wants to see this, I won't be in too much pain...

I've finally seen it, and it was... actually decent! For a movie about Abraham Lincoln killing vampires, the acting is good. The action scenes are good, mainly because of Timur Bekmambetov's direction. The script is a mess, but not bad enought to ruin the experience.

My Grade: B-

I'd say no -- There's way worse things out there. When you put it next to The Devil Inside, Battleship, One For The Money, A Thousand Words, and/or This Means War, it looks out of place.

As I've just discovered today, the premise of this movie is about to be repeated in real (or should I say 'reel') life since potential Razzie contender 'Twilight Breaking Wind Fart 2' is going head to head in the cinemas with http://insidemovies.ew.com/2012/07/18/steven-spielbergs-lincoln-release-007-twilight/ - a certain other movie  (for a limited time only).

The ending scene of this movie (which was pretty much the only few minutes I liked about Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter) has gotten me so excited about Spielberg's Lincoln. I love period pieces, and I've been to Vicksburg.

I'm wondering if it will play a role in the subject of the up-coming movie. Man, I cannot wait!

I just saw it. For your consideration:
-Worst Actor for Benjamin Walker.
-Worst Supp. Actor for Anthony Mackie (also for MAN ON A LEDGE).
-Worst New Star for Benjamin Walker.
-Worst Remake/Sequel.
-Worst Excuse for a Horror Movie.
-Worst Picture.

I won't say if it deserves Worst Screenplay until I do some research about the novel it's based on.

It should be nominated for that. Most of the changes were for the worse.

It should be noted that the book from which this movie was adapted received favorable reviews, such as http://herocomplex.latimes.com/2010/03/05/abraham-lincoln-vampire-hunter/ - this one from The L.A. Times ...

Exactly! But the movie is completely different from the book... despite being adapted by the same writer!

I'm dumbfounded.  I mean, it's an old saw to say that the book was better than the movie.  But to say that the book was better than the movie even though the one who adapted the book for the movie was the author himself?  I think I'm gonna need a little help getting my jaw off the floor. . . .
