The member-started discussions can be upgraded, right? The only reason we made them before you did was because you had other things to do, right Headrazz?

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: While I make it a policy to provide GOLD COLORED LINKS from our Eligible Releases List to any Member-Started Forum, I do not "upgrade" any of them to "Official Forum" status -- largely because that implies that a Forum was started by someone officially representing our Foundation. Despite my appreciation of all our Forum Members' efforts and contributions, that would not be true of any Member-Started discussion...

Well, all I can say is, "WAH!" . . . Wink

Okay, I can say a little more than that.  It's not surprising that HeadRAZZ would want to set up the forum for an Arnold Schwarzeneggar movie.  He'll probably also set up the forum for the Sly Stallone movie that comes out the week after.

Don't everybody get so obsessed with "up-grades."  If I recall correctly, movies discussed only in "Member-Started" forums were all over this year's nominating ballot.  I mean, why should HeadRAZZ start another forum page if we've already got one going?  The real goal here is to peg movies that are so bad they deserve our attention.

And we'll have plenty of other movies for us members to create discussion forums alongside HeadRAZZ's picks.  And, remember, sometimes one of them may be moved into a regular discussion thread.

Okay, looking over the 2013 releases, including some that do not have release dates yet, here are the films to look out for, starting this week. First, films that have limited or no set release date:
The Canyons, InAPPropriate Comedy, Plan 9, Man of Tai Chi, Latino Paranormal Activity, Machete Kills, and Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie.

Now on to set releases: The Last Stand comes first, though Broken City and Mama could have Razzie potential.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. No doubt that's one, but maybe Movie 43 and/or Parker can push it off.

Bullet to the Head is one, but there's the possibility of Stand Up Guys, or maybe, dare I say it, Warm Bodies.

Identity Thief doesn't seem like the funniest movie, and then there's Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan III.

A Good Day to Die Hard is my personal pick, Beautiful Creatures is also possible, and Safe Haven is definitely up there on the Razzie scale.

Dark Skies is from the man that made Legion and Priest, and Snitch is the first of a number of The Rock action movies coming this year. Snitch also has Susan Sarandon.

Jack the Giant Slayer seems just "meh", so Last Exorcism Part II might be the better choice. Stoker is also a possibility.

Oz the Great and Powerful has potential to go either way. Admission and/or Dead Man Down seem like safer bets.

The Cal looks pretty horrible, but maybe we want to go with Burt Wonderstone?

Yeah, Olympus Has Fallen is ours.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation is probably the most likely, but then there is The Host, from the author of Twilight, and Marriage Counselor, another Tyler Perry film, but this one features KIM KARDASHIAN. I gotta say that even though she doesn't seem like she'll be in the film too much, she still looks like a Barbie doll on camera (That's a bad thing, if you cannot guess.)

The Heat doesn't look all too impressive.

42... Only things I could see it nominated for are Worst Supporting Actor for Ford and Worst Remake. Evil Dead is strong possibility, and Scary Movie 5 is undeniable. Oblivion is a little less likely.

Pain & Gain and The Big Wedding are on the s*** list.

Great Gatsby is possible.

Fast and Furious 6 and Hangover Part III seem especially likely.

After Earth is almost a no brainer, though there is also The Internship and Now You See Me.

Man of Steel has stronger possibilities, but Seth Rogen is not having the greatest tract record at the moment, so maybe This is the End?

World War Z looks generic.

White House Down vs. Olympus Has Fallen... both lose.

The Lone Ranger looks like a potential train wreck that has an actual train wreck.

Grown Ups 2... Just, Grown Ups 2. Do I need to explain? Though, Pacific Rim could be a disappointment.

The Conjuring is likely. R.I.P.D., interesting but possibly not good.

The Wolverine might be a let down like the last Wolverine movie.

The Smurfs 2, of course.

300: Rise of an Empire and RED 2, both sequels that may, or may not, be necessary.

We're the Millers could be "ugh", but Elysium could disappoint.

2 Guns and The To Do List are maybes, but is anyone asking for Percy Jackson 2?

Mortal Instruments is another maybe.

Getaway has Selena Gomez, 'nuff said, but then there is Insidious Chapter 2.

Riddick, possibly.

Battle of the Year just for Chris Brown ALONE. I' Frankenstein... I don't know.

Runner Runner is possible, but then The Tomb is has more going for, or should I say against, it.

The Delivery Man, yawn. Paranoia, maybe.

Haunts could have Razzie potential, and so does the Oldboy remake.

Carrie, maybe. Malavita and The Seventh Son, also maybe.

Paranormal Activity 5, YES!

Ender's Game, it's possible.

One Direction Concert Movie 3D. Why not?

A Madea Christmas, 'nuff said.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues. Let me ask you this: How many sequels to successful comedies have actually been good? Then there is Last Vegas, a maybe.

47 Ronin, most likely. Jack Ryan and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, maybe.

That's it, do you guys agree?

This winter is so hard to predict. I can't wait until Tyler Perry's The Marriage Counselor, 'cause I have to know if the reviews underpass Diary of a Mad Black Woman.

For Jnr. 25, I'm predicting that Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters will be the 2nd worst new film of the week, behind Movie 43.

I'm not sure about A Good Day to Die Hard. Back in July of 2007, Live Free or Die Hard got somewhere around 70% positive reviews from all the aggregate review sites, so I don't see what could doom A Good Day to Die Hard except for its winter release.

P.S.: Kim Dash looks like a Barbie? That reminds me of this short excerpt from Episode 417, A Very Crappy Christmas:
Barbie Doll: Oh, uh, hello good lookin'! What's your name?
Butters Cutout: H'uh, Butters, ma'am!
Barbie Doll: Well, Butters, would you like to slap my ******* around?
Butters Cutout: Uh, no thanks, ma'am, uh I'll get in trouble again!

It just makes me want to slap a Kim Dash doll's ******* around!

Last night, the Golden Globes turned out to be one of the best award ceremonies I've watched in years -- I'm not kidding! I'm saying that because, until the very last minute, we didn't know what was going to win Best Picture/Drama. Like I said days ago, the fact that ZERO DARK THIRTY isn't up for the Best Director Oscar lowered its chances. So I thought that another movie would win at the Golden Globes, revealing the new Oscar front-runner. Throughout last night, each of the Best Motion Picture Drama nominees won some awards, so they all had equal odds. ARGO won Best Picture and also Best Director -- even though it's not even nominated for that category in the Oscars. So there's still no clear Oscar front-runner! The only other televised ceremonies here in Chile are the SAG Awards, but since they only award acting, they can't answer my question. Therefore, for the first time in years, the Oscars are truly going to be "unpredictable."

By the way, if we go by history, BRAVE's win for Best Animated Feature may mirror what happened in 2007: CARS won for having the prettier animation, but HAPPY FEET won the Oscar.

A couple of questions: Why was Jodie Foster awarded with a lifetime achievement award if she's only 50? Why did Anne Hathaway looked like she was about to cry every minute of the night? And why did Bill Clinton get a standing ovation, if Americans hate him? LOL

Seriously, though, here in Chile we don't address our former presidents as "Mr. President."

In another twist, The Last Stand is now on a 5-0 slide on Rotten T. Breaking Dawn Part 2 got 8 positive reviews before it got 1 negative, and ended in the high 40s in approval rating, so I'm predicting this'll end up in the low 40s. If it keeps the good reviews up, THEN I'll say give it a pass, but definitely don't consider making the forum until it's released! Instead, we should keep the rest of our attention focused on Mama and Broken City for the week. And if they both get good or mixed reviews, I think we should upgrade Texas Chainsaw 3D and A Haunted House to official forums as "Leftover Worst New Movies of the Last 2 Weaks."

Vits: Jodie Foster is one of the most respected actresses in the world and I don't have a problem with her getting a career award. Anne Hathaway strikes me as someone who cries easily. And Americans hating Bill Clinton? He's generally loved here. Just look at the reaction to his speech at DNC. Hell, a few of my Republican friends even like him!

Oh, I'm not saying Jodie doesn't deserve the career award -- I'm just curious because they usually don't give it to people that young.

By the way, I read a rant about how she adressed her being gay ( http://www.tv.com/news/the-70th-annual-golden-globes-were-an-embarrassing-joke-obviously-but-also-sort-of-fun-photo-recap-30397/ - *. What do you all think about it?

Maybe "hate" isn't the right word. It's just that, after Bush, he's the most parodied president (no, I haven't done the math). Also, he's been the punchline of so many jokes, and not just about infidelity or having a fat woman fetish (which I don't think he even has).

So, is Last Stand is getting an Official Forum anyways?

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: Based on the early reviews at Rotten Tomatoes giving it a surprising 100% Positive rating, I have decided to heed our Forum members' advice and hold off on putting together a formal discussion of LAST STAND at least until more reviews are in. Since there will apparently be no pre-release reviews on MAMA, it's now looking like we won't have a Worst of the Weak pick 'till perhaps next week...or maybe even later this month.

Sounds like Grounder the Critic feared that they'd try to water down A Good Day to Die Hard for a PG-13 rating. Now that we know it's an R, it's most likely uncut.

Meanwhile, The Last Stand continues its scoring streak with a 9 to 0 rating at Rotten T. Although its first 3 reviews at Metacritic average out in the high 50's and lower 60's. I can't decide if the reviews will be good or mixed.

Despite Guillermo Del Toro's involvement in Mama, it's now tied at 2 to 2 on Rotten T. Until we see reviews on Broken City, I preliminarily conclude that there won't be another Worst New Movie until next week, with Movie 43 and probably Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.

S-o-o-o... Is there going to be a Forum on Last Stand, or not? If not for Last Stand, then how about Broken City?

UP-DATE from Head RAZZberry: Although reviews suggest Ah-Nuld's big screen return in THE LAST STAND is actually pretty good for a Schwarzenegger flick ( http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/last_stand_2013/ - ® contender, box office numbers on opening night indicate that (at least here in the U.S.) it's gonna be a HUGE FLOP: According to B.O. MoJo, STAND's per-screen average on Friday, Jan. 18 was a teeny $687 per theatre (meaning each venue sold less than 100 tickets for the entire day). Here'a a  http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=laststand.htm -
I added an Official Forum for BROKEN CITY over the weekend -- Here's the  http://www.razzies.com/forum/broken-city_forum662.html - ® contender. If you strongly disagree, feel free to add a Member-Started Forum on it. Here's the  http://www.razzies.com/forum/memberstarted-forums-on-2013-titles_forum663.html -  to do so...

I think that next week, HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS should be the one to get a forum -- I don't remember a single good movie version of a dark fairy tale...at least not this century. And, as I said days ago, it's an MTV Films production, which means it's likely to have an excess of "music video style" editing.

There are other movies, but they have potential. PARKER may star Jennifer Lopez, but it's directed by Taylor Hackford. And Jason Statham's movies usually do better with critics than we'd think (maybe because critics have low expectations). Also, MOVIE 43 is an "anthology" film, which gives it more chances for having directors of different levels. Like last year's V/H/S, it could have some good stories and some bad ones. But I won't rule out a Worst Ensemble nomination, because the category was arguably created for star studded movies like this.

While I don't object to looking to Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters for some RAZZberries to harvest, knowing how Red Riding Hood starring Amanda Seyfried turned out (Bottom 40 Films of 2011, #25), I do object to the idea of Movie 43 NOT getting a forum if the reviews show that it deserves one. You say it's only a remote possibility, but I say it's the most likely scenario. You have to understand that unless I was hallucinating, one of the trailers said "Will you poop on me?" I smell trouble. Subsequent trailers further demonstrated that Movie 43 has everything wrong with "comedy" in the New Millennium. I'll do a double take if it gets good reviews!

I didn't mean it like that. You see, there are 3 new releases with Razzie potential. Not that long ago, there would be 1 or even 2 bonus picks in one week. But there were none in 2012 (leftovers from the previous week don't count). Usually I'd say that HeadRAZZ should create a forum on Monday and wait until Friday for the reviews to create a 2nd forum. But since he just created the forum for BROKEN CITY, I'm guessing he'll only have time for one forum.

Why the sudden slowdown? Unless this is THE week the final ballots go out, why would HeadRAZZ be so strapped for time that a scatological comedy anthology and a modernized fairy tale adaptation couldn't be the #1 and #2 Worst New Movies of the Weak on January 25? There were two weekends in 2012 with two worst new movies, listed as "#2 Worst" and "#1 Worst", not "Leftover" or "Bonus". On January 27, 2012, two films were listed as Official RAZZIE Contenders: Man on a Ledge (#2 Worst New Movie of the Weak) and One For the Money (#1 Worst New Movie). It happened again on 5-18-012, with What to Expect When You're Expecting (#2 Worst New Movie) and Battleship (#1 Worst New Movie).

If I can't win my case, then I leave you with one warning: We're going to have more unofficial RAZZIE contenders than official ones by the time the winter's through at this rate...

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: There seems to be a serious misunderstanding as to the relationship between a film having an "Official From" and a "Member-Started" one -- It is, after all, the votes of our Members that eventually decide what gets nominated. And if you'll look at this year's Nominating Ballot, you'll see that many a movie discussed in a "Member-Started" Forum (as opposed to an "Official" one) got mentioned on that ballot, while several titles with "Official" Forums didn't end up making the Nominating Ballot at all. This whole thing is a process, and thinking ahead to a year from now really doesn't serve any purpose at this time.

Basically, I think you're making a bigger deal out of this "minor distinction" than needs to be made of it...

The only reason that happened was because Battleship forums were set up A WEEK EARLY .

I have a feeling that old age is catching up to HeadRAZZ, which would partially explain why he's slowed down his forum-making...

Old age catching up to him? I've been dreading that day for years ever since I found out HeadRAZZ was more than 2 months older than my dad. Then suddenly I don't know what to believe: Does old age really impact computer and internet functioning like it does athletic functioning and physical activity? If not, then I doubt if HeadRAZZ disclosing any medical problems would be worth knowing they were hindering his management of the RAZZIE awards. But if HeadRAZZ were THAT concerned with medical problems, wouldn't he be planning on passing down the GRAF some time soon? Or at least wouldn't someone else be co-heading the Foundation? He's not even 60 yet, after all!

Worst comes to worst, all this rambling about HeadRAZZ's health not being that bad is all just me in denial. 2013 has the smell of RAZZBerries hanging heavy over it. There'll probably be more high contenders than 2012, 2011, and even 2010, and could potentially match 2009, but this time it'll be a 50/50 split of official and unofficial contenders.

I totally forgot about those! But that doesn't change the fact that, throughout 2012, there were many requests to create bonus forums for movies that did end up with bad reviews. There also were a couple of movies that were suggested, ignored...and still made it to the ballots without forums. I'm not saying that there can't be more than 1 pick; I'm saying that it used to happen a lot from 2005 to 2010, but it has decreased a lot since 2011. And I'm sure it doesn't have to do with HeadRAZZ's health. Maybe he just wants less forums because he knows the number of them that actually end up nominated. Or maybe he didn't even realize?

Anyway, there are no early reviews on any of the 3 movies (only the one with a weird title, JOHN DIES AT THE END, has positive early reviews)so maybe we should just flip a coin?

I have to say that this always kind of bothered me about this Forum: Why is it that every time when HeadRAZZ doesn't make a forum about a certain movie, people get so worked up about it? Come on, is it REALLY that important?? I also think that indirectly insulting HeadRAZZ by saying that "he's losing it to old age" is a bit tasteless (I know that you probably didn't mean it as an insult Oiram, but to me it came across as rude -- I mean, he does allow us to have a much bigger role in the discussions about what's on the Razzie-radar through this site, at least in compared to other award -shows. And I kind of think that this at least deserves some respect...

Sorry for the bad grammar, I am typing this on my SmartPhone and find it impossible to correct sentences after I've typed them...

Many of us are just bitter because the GRAF picked Broken City when we had a weekend packed full of much worse looking films ahead of us, and the prospect of one of them NOT being an official contender, even in the case they get worse review averages. We know it was all about the lost money, but that's not good enough for most of us because nearly all the critics were neutral towards Broken City, thus strongly suggesting it's not going to be near one of the worst films of the year (or the winter, or even the month!)

I never said HeadRAZZ was losing it, getting too old, or anything of the sort. In fact, I was advising him NOT to disclose any medical problems he might have (I'm such an open book that I don't emphasize privacy very often)! For all I know, he could be in perfectly good health and I wouldn't think it would be worth cutting his family's privacy to know. I just think it's a little strange that the additions of new forums has slowed in the past 2-3 years when there are about as many bad films every year as ever...

...and I still don't have a full explanation for it. My only idea was that he wanted to emphasize the ones that lost the most money, starred the RAZZIE repeat offenders, and came as remakes and sequels to past films, and leave the rest for our Unofficial Contenders, which have perfectly good odds of making the final ballots anyway. (Only difference is that, to my memory, they've never made the final cut).

Here's my question for Vheid: You're a LOT more conservative with the new subforums than most of us here. If you were in charge of adding new subforums, what would your policy be? (Can you describe in detail?) I ask because 2013 has a big spike in RAZZIE prospects compared to 2011 and 2012, though I can't make a case for more forums until after you make your case for fewer forums.

I've been invited to an avant premiere. It's for a comedy called EL BABYSITTER (really). My grandma knows the director. Just to clarify, here, there aren't red carpets or paparazzi. Even when it's a movie from a director with prestige, it inclued a cocktail and that's it. Anyway, I'm excited!

We know it was all about the lost money, but that's not good enough for most of us because nearly all the critics were neutral towards Broken City, thus strongly suggesting it's not going to be near one of the worst films of the year (or the winter, or even the month!)

Hang on a minute. I never said anything like that. Actually, I think BROKEN CITY was a good pick, based on its reviews. Despite the silly premise, THE LAST STAND turned out to be merely decent. The same with MAMA, despite the stupid title.

Okay then. How do you explain the 48% "mean average" at Metacritic? How about the fact that, out of the 32 reviews, there are twice as many green as red, 20 of them are in the yellow, and 15 of them gave Broken City exactly 50%? And most of all, someone tell me why Broken City deserved the forum instead of Movie 43 (in the instance that Movie 43 will get the kind of reviews I think it will, based on the staggering level of scatology, and stars a LOT more actors and actresses with past history with the RAZZIES)? But if it has to be only Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, the fact that I put up the forum for Movie 43 instead of HeadRAZZ will kill ALL odds of Movie 43 making the finals for the Worst of 2013 RAZZIES. It's exactly what happened to Beastly, I Am Number Four, Passion Play, and A Little Bit of Heaven. They got recommended, but they didn't get nominated like they might have had they been official instead of unofficial contenders.

This week is a pretty big week for awards.

Thursday: Nominees for the Methane Movie Awards are announced
Saturday: Winners of the Producers Guild of America Awards are announced
Sunday: Winners of the Screen Actors Guild Awards are announced

The last two might give us an idea of what the Academy might choose.

When I left the theater after EL BABYSITTER, there were TV news teams ready to interview the audience. I did my best to avoid them, because I was too embarrassed to say how much I hated it.

To give you some idea, here's the poster for the movie:

The tagline reads "Which of these 2 would you babysit?". Me? Neither. They're not my type. And you guys?

BROKEN CITY got a forum instead of THE LAST STAND, not instead of MOVIE 43. And I personally don't trust Metacritic. I prefer Rotten Tomatoes.

Vits: Not really, but there may be a few surprises among them.

The year 2013 will see several films that were initially going to be released earlier than when they are now coming out.  Here's an article that focuses on those films:

I still don't know which movie deserves a forum, but maybe this will help:

1) PARKER's R.T. rating has started off with 0%.

2) I just found out that H&G:WH was shot in 2011 and it's only being released now because of Jeremy Renner's blockbuster* success. The same thing happened last year with 2 movies that ended up in the Razzie ballots: HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET with Jennifer Lawrence, and, RED DAWN with Renner's AVENGERS co-star Chris Hemsworth.

3) Guess where MOVIE 43 is placed on http://www.film.com/movies/largest-movie-ensembles -
*He became a star with THE HURT LOCKER and THE TOWN, but now he prooved that he can attract many audiences.

I just found out that MOVIE 43 has also been on the shelf. And longer than H&G:WH! Anyway, since neither will have reviews for days (Statham and J-Lo's PARKER has reviews, and it'll probably stay around 15%), maybe one of them or both are destined to be next week's Worst Leftover Movie. The problem is that next week we also have more than one obvious contender (a sequel nobody wanted, and a movie with Stallone)! Maybe http://cinematicmethod.com/there-are-no-horned-witches-in-the-cia/ -
Meanwhile, http://www.rottentomatoes.com/guides/golden-tomato-awards-2012/wide/ - (what's odd is that it doesn't feature the worst movies as usual). GTA, these should be the Best Picture nominees according to you, right?

Oh, and.... Breaking news!
[TUBE]oO_Po2ALczk[/TUBE]
At this point, I don't even care who makes it. I'm more interested in the content of the story and relevance of making another one.

When I get a chance, I'll be voting for The Devil Inside for Worst Picture at the Methane Movie Awards.

Apart from my limited familiarity with The Secret World of Arriety, the other 9 films deserved their high honors at the Golden Tomato Awards.

I don't notice anything strange about JJ Abrams directing Star Wars Episode VII. Star Trek 2009 and Super 8 were on the Top 40 lists for their respective years. The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones were nowhere near as bad as we've made them out to be. They were just RAZZed on principle for being in the shadow of the original trilogy. But any director whose made mostly good films and has enough experience directing spacefarers would be a good fit for Star Wars Episode VII. At least it isn't M Night or the one who made Battlefield Earth.

After reading that article gain, I realized that they're trying to make MOVIE 43 seem like another one of those Rom-Com/Multi-Star/Multiple-Story-line movies. But it's an Anthology Movie, so it's not just an excuse to bring a bunch of stars together at once.

Was going to post this on the Movie 43 Forum, but decided to post it here instead, because we might have a lengthy discussion about this, and I would like Headrazz to put his two cents in as well.

Do you guys think that the person that most deserves a Razzie for her own individual performance in Movie 43 is Kate Winslet? The reason I believe so is because this is like the equivalent of Susan Sarandon doing Mr. Wooodcock (and later That's My Boy) trying to appeal to the "gross-out/shock/stupid comedy" crowd.

Now I wouldn't say I'm a fan of Kate's, but I do respect most of her work, and I know she can act. But her being in this, especially after winning the Oscar, makes me what to scream:  "WHAT KIND OF MEDS WERE YOU TAKING, WOMAN?!?!?!"

I understand that she's probably trying to "branch out," but, Kate: At least visualize in your mind "Is this really going to work" before you say yes!

Does anyone agree?

Oh, and since this is an ensemble piece, she'll probably end up in the Worst Supporting Actress category?

Oiram, we should all see MOVIE 43 to see who stands out as the worst of the cast (someone must be, right?).

Next week, I think THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT PART 2 should get the forum. It's an unwanted sequel to a Horror Movie that was already forgotten. And it stars Chad Michael Murray, who's been in Razzie nominated movies, but hasn't been nominated for a Razzie... yet. I know that the more obvious choice was BULLET TO THE HEAD starring Stallone, but early reviews have been as positive as THE LAST STAND and THE EXPENDABLES PART 2. I'm not saying that we should rule it out. It's based on a graphic novel, just like JUDGE DREDD. I'm just saying we should wait until Thursday or Friday, and we should give THIC2 a forum ASAP. Some users have also suggested Golden Globe nominee (Best Song) STAND UP GUYS, which has early weak reviews but doesn't seem like an obvious contender (not to mention that it'll get a limited release), and, WARM BODIES, which does look like it could fall apart because if its crazy concept isn't well-handed, but I'll trust director Jonathan Levine ("50/50").

ARGO won the Producers Guild Award (and so did WRECK-IT RALPH). Could it make history by becoming the first Best Picture winner at the Oscar that wasn't nominated for Best Director? I don't know. What I do know is that if it wins the SAG Award for Best Ensemble tonight, which I don't think it will*, it won't give it more chances because that award isn't related to Best Picture, no matter how many movies have won both.

*That award usually go to ensemble pieces. Experts were even surprised at its nomination.

Oh, that Haunting movie is coming out in February? Thanks for the heads up!

Okay, I've been thinking... Do you think we should have a special category this year for Worst Raunchy Comedy? We've already had A Haunted House and now Movie 43, and looking at some of the releases down the line, it's not stopping there.

ARGO won the SAG for Best Ensemble. http://www.sagawards.org/awards/nominees-and-recipients/19th-annual-screen-actors-guild-awards - *. I still don't think it makes ARGO the Oscar front-runner. Anyway, http://www.rottentomatoes.com/ballots/oscars-challenge-2013/ -
The biggest surprises were Jennifer Lawrence winning over Jessica Chastain (this means that now they're both equally front-runners), and, Tommy Lee Jones winning over Philip Seymour Hoffman (and Christoph Waltz wasn't even nominated).

What they didn't show last night is that 007: SKYFALL defeated THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, THE BOURNE LEGACY, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and LES MIS for Best Stunt Ensemble. Does anyone agree or disagree with this?

*That award is usally given to ensemble pieces, specially movies with multiple storylines.

I think that when they do create categories like that, it's for noticeable trends. But separating by genre is tricky. I mean, how do we know that this will be the year of the worst comedies in recent years?

Looks like Headrazz decided to do Bullet to the Head anyways, according to the List of 2013 films.

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: Actually, early reviews on BULLET TO THE HEAD (much like those for Ah-Nuld's recent B.O. bomb http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/last_stand_2013/ - Member Started Forum on it. While the concept and title of HAUNTING 2 certainly seem lame, I would strongly suggest waiting 'till at least a handful of reviews are in before setting up any future Member-Started Forum discussions...

The month of January gave us 8 Razzie prospects.  Let's see what February has to offer:

Warm Bodies - If this film stays on the Fresh side of the Tomatometer, then it won't be a Razzie prospect.  It might not be one anyway since the only familiar names in it are Rob Corddry and John Malkovich.

Bullet to the Head - Sylvester Stallone's last Razzie win came in 2004 for his role in "Spy Kids 3D: Game Over."  His last nomination was in 2011 for his direction of "The Expendables."  Will he be nominated for this or will he escape Razzie-free?

Identity Thief - This comedy stars Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy and is directed by Seth Gordon.  Multiple Razzie nominee Jon Favreau is also in it.

Side Effects - This film stars Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones, Oscar nominees Rooney Mara and Jude Law, and Channing Tatum (he could be a Razzie prospect for a later film).  It's directed by Oscar winning director Steven Soderbergh.  If it stays on the Fresh side of the Tomatometer, then it won't be a Razzie prospect.

A Good Day to Die Hard - The films in this series haven't disappointed...yet.  But typing that sentence might have just jinxed this 5th film.

Beautiful Creatures - This fantasy film looks like something the CW would air.  It stars two leads I don't recognize and could receive supporting role Razzie nods for Emma Thompson, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum, and Jeremy Irons.

Safe Haven - Still blind to the fact that Nicholas Sparks novel adaptations don't bring quality entertainment to the big screen, Relativity Media is releasing another one.  Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel play the leads and Lasse Hallstrom, who directed another Sparks novel adaptation, is directing.

Escape from Planet Earth - Animated films usually do real good, but this one doesn't look good at all.  Razzie winners Jessica Alba and Sarah Jessica Parker are among the voice actors.

Snitch - Like Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson also has a Razzie campaign in multiple parts this year.  Razzie winner Barry Pepper and Razzie nominee Susan Sarandon also appear in this movie.

Dark Skies - I don't recognize any of the names in the cast, but I do recognize director/writer Scott Stewart, who was also responsible for "Legion" and "Priest."  Keep an eye on this one.

There's going to be a movie adaptation of ENTOURAGE. I haven't seen the final season yet, but I have the feeling that there's no need for a movie. And because it was an HBO show, I've read several comments about it following the steps of SEX AND THE CITY.

Also, the new releases here are FLIGHT and PARENTAL GUIDANCE. What should I do?

Okay, so I think it's pretty obvious that our next Worst of the Weak  title should be: Identity Thief -- and before anyone says anything otherwise, I have two words for you: Craig Mazin

He's the main writer of the film. What has he written before, you may ask? Scary Movie's 3 and 4, Superhero Movie, and The Hangover Part II. Oh, and did I mention he's writing The Hangover Part III as well?

If that doesn't make it obvious, I don't know what does!

Turns out that BULLET TO THE HEAD is weaker than early reviews suggested, but it's still out of "Razzies range." Meanwhile, STAND UP GUYS is bad, and WARM BODIES may be 2013's equivalent of 21 JUMP STREET.

I was actually thinking about it, and I think we should go by date releases. You see, the director is Seth Gordon. 4 CHRISTMASES was released in December, a time of year when most Comedies suck. HORRIBLE BOSSES was released in the Summer, where Comedies have a better chance than in other seasons. His new movie is a Comedy released in February. I'd say it has 1/10 of a chance to be good.

Again, I'm going by dates. Despite being talented, Jason Bateman is a hit-or-miss when it comes to picking projects. As for Melissa McCarthy, there's a rumored curse on the cast of BRIDESMAIDS: most of them have followed up with bad movies.

Final Razzie ballots have been released, so get ready to vote.

EDIT: Small note to HeadRazz, you forgot to point out the a number of people, Sandler included, did uncredited rewrites of That's My Boy. It says so on the IMDb trivia for the movie.

So, this is pretty much a three way race between Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, That's My Boy, and Battleship. Do you guys agree?

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: Sorry, Oiram, but I thought everyone knew that the "trivia notes" at IMDb are hardly an acceptable source of accurate information. If Sandler had contributed substantially to re-writes of THAT'S MY BOY, you can bet he would've had his agent/manager insist on a screenplay credit. As with all awards, we go with the credits that actually appear on-screen...

We should still keep an eye on the other releases, aside from IDENTITY THIEF. There's SIDE EFFECTS, starring BROKEN CITY's Catherine Zeta-Jones and Razzie Repeat Offender Channing Tatum (who's usually bad in serious roles), and, THE SORCERER AND THE WHITE SNAKE, starring Razzie Repeat Offender Jet Li.

By the way, this week TOP GUN is being re-released in 3-D and IMAX. In case you've never seen it and want to use this opportunity to...I say don't! TOP GUN currently ranks #57 (out of 68) on my All-Time Worst list -- right between QUEEN OF THE DAMNED (which I saw yesterday) and HOUSE OF THE DEAD.

Finally, Ben Affleck won the DGA Award. Seriously, this is going to be the best Oscar ceremony ever!

No. The thing is that, since late 2011, the activity on the forums has decreased a lot. The users are still a part of this, and I think they still constantly read the posts. I'm sure of this because they do write at least once a week.

Why has this happened? I don't know. Going back to old threads, I noticed that the regulars always posted at least once on the Worst New Movie. Maybe 2011 was the year with the most fights and users leaving?

Steven Soderbergh didn't turned out any bad movies last year, so Side Effects might just dodge Razzie consideration. We also haven't really had any foreign films recently in contention for Razzies, so I don't think The Sorcerer and the White Snake will get a forum, even though Jet Li is a Razzie Repeat Offender.

Also, please check the bottom of my signature for when final voting for my awards start.

I'm positive that HeadRAZZ will choose current nominee ALEX CROSS as the Worst New Movie On DVD. I'd like to mention that SO UNDERCOVER starring Miley Cyrus (as well as Jeremy Piven) is also available, and its reviews are even worse than L.O.L.'s. That makes sense, because at least with that one, it was clear who the target audience was meant to be.

You know, you're very lucky. The Super Bowl does air here (a country who's against American Football because we consider Soccer to be the real one), but not the famous commercials. So nobody watches the live broadcast. Sure, http://www.tv.com/news/the-best-and-worst-commercials-of-super-bowl-xlvii-30535/ -
By the way, I have a poll for you Americans. Whether it's based on the facts you know or your own personal taste, which network do you think is the best? And which one do you think is the worst? NBC? CBS? ABC? Or perhaps FOX or The CW?

Identity Thief is now at 28%. Please tell me you are making a forum.

If he isn't, I will step in and make one.

Please wait till there is confirmation. Infact, HeadRazz, if you are reading, are you going to do an Identity Thief forum or not? The reviews for it are getting worse.

http://www.egotastic.com/2013/02/yuliya-snigir-yes-yuliya-leads-our-list-hot-girls-you-will-see-at-the-movies-this-month/ - Here's a... [ahem] more interesting way to see what's coming this month.

Oiram, why did you create forums for those movies so early? Now HeadRAZZ won't even have the chance to create one.

There's a movie with even worse reviews: A GLIMPSE INSIDE THE MIND OF CHARLES SAWN III, starring laughing-stock Charlie Sheen (who's also going to be in SCARY MOVIE PART 5), Razzie nominee Patricia Arquette, almost Razzie nominee Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and, repeat offender Bill Murray. But since it's getting a limited release, IDENTITY THIEF has more priority.

Oiram: It's not even listed in bold red for an official forum so there's probably no other choice but to give Identity Thief a member-started forum.

Jesse, I'm telling you. Wait until HeadRazz himself says something with his own keyboard. If he says no, THEN you can make a forum.

The TV movie LIZ & DICK just premiered here, and I feel like I was lied to. I was expecting Ed Wood level of quality. You know those funny recaps all over the net? They show just a few moments of the movie, and now I know why: there were only few moments like that. I'm not saying that the movie is good. Even by Lifetime standars*, it's boring and not insightful. And the sets look too fake. I'm just saying that it's not jaw-droppingly bad.

I did my best to judge Lindsay Lohan fairly. There are a couple of moments where she's actually conveying emotions. The problem is that it feels like she's playing some character, not Elizabeth Taylor. And as far as the women who look like Taylor, which barely do because no one can look like her, I think that Lohan does resemble her enough. The rest of the time, it feels like it's her first time acting. And since I know how long she's been acting... Grant Bowler is also uneven, but a little better than Lohan.

I think that the director deserves most of the blame. I know not every director can be worthy of an Oscar, specially one that (probably) has to work in TV movies. But if you're someone who's offered to work in a big project like this, you have to do your best. If your main actress throw something without any strenght, you talk to her and do another shot. If the shot still feels rehearsed, change the angle. But letting the final result contain bloopers and trying to pass them off as serious scenes is unprofessional.

I give it a 3/10.

*I gave THE CLIENT LIST a 6/10. Not sure how I feel about the TV series, though.

Maybe he'll wait to see the box office results, to see if it's a flop. According to him, that's a Razzie factor.

-A BOBA FETT spin-off...

-A VAMPIRE ACADEMY* adaptation.
..

-and NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM PART 3.

*I've never heard of it. But based on the title...

Skip to 06:57 to see my prediction on GINGER & ROSA (it comes out in March). Right after that is my review of the Chilean Oscar nominee NO (it comes out this Friday in the US).

ARGO has just won the BAFTA for Best Film (and Director as well). Meanwhile, 007: SKYFALL won Best British Film (over LES MIS, which was up for Best Film (Huh?!)) and Best Music, and, Juno Temple won the Rising Star Award (I'm guessing for KILLER JOE, and maybe even for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES). There were a couple of surprises, though: AMOUR's Emmanuelle Riva for Best Actress; SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK for Best Adapted Screenplay (it had always been ARGO or LINCOLN before); BRAVE for Best Animated Film (I know it won the Golden Globe, but I (and many others) refuse to believe it's the front-runner for the Oscar).

Aside from NO (which is getting a limited release), there are 4 main releases this week, and they all had potential to get a forum... but they won't get it. There's DIE HARD PART 5, but HeadRAZZ said he's looking forward to it. And Oiram created forums for the other 3, and HeadRAZZ said he won't upgrade member-started forums to official forums. Also, GTA created a forum for IDENTITY THIEF, which means it won't be the Worst Leftover Movie. So... what are we gonna do this week?!

When the remake of Arthur was coming out, HeadRazz was actually interested in seeing it. However, he found out about the horrible reviews it had been getting, was severely disappointed, and so a made a Forum for it.

In other words, A Good Day to Die Hard could still get a Forum, if it stinks...
